Catherine Q*bert-All

I thought you were saying that like it's a bad thing at first!

No no, hence the smiley. I love his work.

That has to be the single most useless and stupid trailer ever.

It wasn't really a trailer, it was the intro to the game.

Wow, this is a surprise. GiantBomb has a Quick Look up for Catherine.

Q Bert? Huh.

So weird. I can't decide if that is the worst thing or the best thing they could have done in terms of gameplay.

Is it a given that this is going to get localized? It's starting to seem like, just too weird.

Given Atlus's track record I would expect to see a US version.

Oh god. Seeing the trailer thingy at the end of the quick look made me want this game so hard.

I don't think I've ever had such a combination of "lol wut" and "do want!" feelings. Even the gameplay was cracking me up. (And the trailer did make it seem as though the puzzles get far more complicated, so I'm guessing they can make it work over a full game.)

This game looks messed up in the best way possible.

I love how pushing blocks in your dreams as a Goatman isn't enough: there's a copy-cat arcade machine in the bar.

So watching this QL twice now has me wanting to play P3 or P4. I figure there'll be some expert on them here to answer this and I don't feel like digging up one of the old game threads.

I try every year to play one of them it seems, but I get "game-paralysis" over a certain fear. I know the games are deep as hell and there are opportunities to eff up your playthrough. Can I just roll through these making decisions as I see fit and still get the good ending, get the girl, have good characters, etc? I hate having to refer to a guide for every decision, but my fear of ruining the experience kinda forces my hand. I think if I do play one I'll try P3 first.

Yeah, totally. With the exception of P4's "true ending" (which I defy anyone to get without a guide), the only thing you need a guide for in the games is if you're trying to max all relationships on a single run, or obtain all personas. Neither is at all necessary. The good and bad endings are pretty clearly delineated. I definitely recommend making a save and playing through P4's bad ending anyway, as it's rather poignant. Not so much P3's.

I am all over this game. I liked what I saw in the Quick Look despite the Giant Bomb crew making me want to stab my ears out.

My hope is that the block puzzles are a dream manifestation of the dude's favorite arcade game, and there is some crazy Inception/4th wall thing going on there.

I will join you, brothers.

Quick Look, genius. Catherine, genius. Gimme.

Catherine is coming to the US this Summer.

Hinting at specificity, Amazon has the release listed as July 26th.

Damn, that's really soon. 2011 just has it out for me.

I love the box art:

Yea, I get the better box art!

I'm curious to see how the game turns out. Eventually I'm gonna have to get another PS3 so I can catch up on a few games that I've missed.

LOL nice box art. PS3 definitely wins.

I agree, although the 360 box art would be fine if she had both her eyes open.

I like the 360 art more myself.

It's less titillating but shows one of my favorite female body parts, the lower back.

We should also take note this will most likely not be the North American box art for either console.

Well aren't you all Bull Durham?

Spoiler:

360 ftw

At first I wasn't even sure what that was. I thought something was growing out of her head. This is Catherine we're talking about, so I went for the weird before the normal.

Personally I like the PS3 better. What's better than getting lost in cleavage? (Though I prefer the look of the 360 Catherine ... or is it Katherine. There's two, right? Something like that ....)

I approve of the title change of this thread.

I still wonder how they're going to spin that gameplay into an entire $60 game. I suppose it will be persona-style, where there is "town" gameplay and the Q-bert stuff is a secondary dungeon gameplay. It's an interesting direction.

The one on the PS3 cover is Catherine. The one on the 360 cover is Katherine.

Although if I'm seeing the logo right, Catherine, despite being cute and blonde and happier-seeming, is the figure on the dark half of the seal. Katherine, despite being more gothy, is on the light half of the seal.
