Canadians evil?

an here's the proof:

Canada embarks on mass seal hunt

Canada's largest seal cull for more than 50 years is taking place despite protests by environmentalists and animal rights groups.

The government is allowing more than 300,000 seals to be killed, arguing that the campaign is both ecologically sound and economically justified.

I do find it funny though that the seal is the only animal that I can think of who's self defence mechanism is to look ooh soo cute.
This in turn led to the evolution of self righteous animal rights activists.

I suppose I could make some smart assed remark about how many innocent Iraqis the US has killed.

But I digress, this is NEEDED believe it or not, it will keep the cod stocks on the rise and hopefully get the fishing going again in Nwfld.

I just animal rights activistists would get a van and go down that winding stretch road in Texas, you know to that place that has the good BBQ, sure it tastes a little funny but it''s good meat

*cue chainsaw*

Canadians *are* evil, but so are seals. They''re cute when they''re young, but they''re ugly and ornery when they''re grown. You never see trained seals at animal shows, it''s always the seal''s {ableist slur} cousin -- the Sea Lion.

Oh what the heck, I''ll bite. I don''t think ""Innocent Iraqi Hunt"" in any shape, form, or fashion describes what we''ve done over there. In fact, trillions of American tax dollars have gone to developing not a military that just kills better, but a military that doesn''t just kill indiscriminately. The other, more important fact that makes that statement especially nauseating to me is the fact that far less innocent Iraqis have been killed since we have been there than would have been killed by the Hussein regime, going by well established past history. So please save your ""moral equivalency"" for your little Greenpeace friends. Besides, Eoin isn''t even American.

Canada IS evil. Especially those Montreal Canadian fans.

So they were aiming for the four Canadian soldiers that they bombed last year?

...sorry, couldn''t help it...

Move this thread. And seals can go to hell, where they came from.

An I was naive enough to think that a thread on the clubbing of innocent seals (or should that be the innocent clubbing of seals) wouldn''t degenerate into a name calling contest...

You don''t know these folks too well then do you?

Bunch of seal lovers, all of them.

Damn canadians too!

Yeah guys, drop the Iraq stuff. Or take it to P&C. I want my thread about evil Canadians clubbing seals.

Canadians are evil, but they''re the cute kind of evil. Silly Canadians. Sorta like baby seals. I guess we should just let em hash it out.

I didn''t mean it seriously, I meant as sarcasm like Eoin''s first post.
I guess I should have picked something more along the lines of Deer or Bear.

Damn I guess I just proved this thread true

we are evil !

If seals talk like Canadians ""hey! Whats this clubbing of my head all aboot eh?"" they should be hit with sticks until they die :D...

Unless I''ve just watched too much south park

Where''s that ""there''s only one french canada"" link when you need it...

I think we should give the seals clubs. Then we can have a fight to the death! Seal vs (canadien) Man! Only 49.99 on Pay Per View, SUNDAY SUNDAY SUNDAY!!!

**EDIT: oh, and we can play Canada''s national anthem before the bout. If only to boo it, like the Montreal buffoons did the other night to the U.S. anthem. That''s right, I used the word buffoon.

Then I apologize for what in retrospect was an ad hom. Before I leave the subject entirely, I''m also very sorry about the 4 Canadian soldiers who were killed mistakenly last year. I didn''t mean we were perfect, but we have made a huge effort along those lines. Also sorry for the thread hijack.

lets get back to talking about clubbing seals.

My favourite (if somewhat disturbing reply) is:

I live in Saskatchewan where I own a fishing firm on
the Sea of Spermatogenesis. I''m f*cking tired of
little baby seals ejaculating all over my lawn
. Kill
them! Kill them I beg you.

Write me back soon!

It''s clobberin'' time!

However ugly the picture above looks, I still find this more humane than some ass who sits up in a tree with a bucket of bait under him waiting to kill a bear who takes the bait. What a brave way to hunt!

whether it needs to be done or not, who signs up for these things?

are there hoardes of people out there polishing clubs just waiting for the bell? must be the people with sperm-covered lawns.

i''m a huge wimp when it comes to killing animals. there is no way i could do this. and 300k? sounds like a nightmare.

It''s like a spring Christmas!

I find Jadawin''s pic pretty sick, but it needs to be done to combat the overfishing by Canadians, seals et al (we''re not the only country in those waters). That said, I''m fairly sure they''ve banned the actual ""clubbing"" part and have moved to rifles for cleaner kills.

All this fuss over seals, but no one complains torching and landfilling half a million of chickens.

Yeah, I''m sorry for the pseudo-hijack as well. I knew I shouldn''t have said it, but I couldn''t seem to stop myself...

Please, return to the clubbing.

That pic is from the MSNBC story today about the 350,000 seal pups killed on this hunt, so I don''t think it''s been banned. That having been said, I understand the necessity for it at this point; however, I personally think a controlled long-term hunting solution would probably be preferable. As far as the bear is concerned, if the hunter eats it, I don''t have a problem with it. I do dislike sport hunting.

You''ve got to be kidding me... you''re going to condone seal clubbing, and say that deer hunting is ""BAD"" in the same breath?

If it needs to be done, then wouldn''t it be more humane to trap and euthanize them?

I don''t know what it''s like where you guys live, but down here in redneck country, deer become aggressive if the population isn''t kept under control. Not to mention that they are formidable road hazards at night on county roads. I''m not a hunter, but I know plenty who are. I don''t think that even half of them could be heartless enough to club a seal. I swear, sometimes the f-ing hypocrisy amkes me sick!

Logistically it just won''t work, trapping them that is.

They are usually located on ice flows and with ice in constant motion you''d probably lose both the trap and the catch. These are hardly endangered and left unchecked would decimate the fish supply which for the last 10 - 20 years has been a point of bitter contention bettween Fed and Prov gov''ts. This hasn''t been banned in fact the Feds just ok''ed it recently, hence the hooplah.

They are pretty much used 100% pelt and meat combined, these are fisherman who fighting for survival no just any Joe Canuck.

So maybe it''s not the nicest way but look at how beef and pork are processed, not pretty either.

As far as I''m concerned that''s the bottom line. Club away, Canadians!

But I thought beef and pork came from the marketplace!

Hey, go with what works, I''ve got no problem with it. It just seems crazy that something as ""brutal"" as clubbing a seal is accepted, but shooting a deer is criticized when the goals are ultimately the same (population control).
