I hoping to get a pair of Vibram Five Fingers this weekend. Could be considered a stupid purchase depending on how much I wear them.

I went to a local Blue Ridge Mountain Sports store today and picked up a pair of Vibram Five Fingers (Black KSO Model - $85). I'm going to break them in slowly around the house and then start working out with them next week. They feel great on the feet but are going to take some time getting used to. It's a little strange having the toes seperated and the picky toe is uncooperative so it takes time to put them on.

On a side note, my wife went with me and thought I was a freak for buying them. I had to promise not to wear them out of the house so hopefully they'll grow on her in due time. :-)

I like the idea of working out and hiking in something like these. I'm very curious what your impressions are after a few days of use.

How is that a silly purchase? All of those are delicious and worth every penny.

Man, those 90 minute IPA's will knock you out.

Ok, maybe not silly, but at least fairly awesome. The 60 minute is kicking my ass; I'm terrified to think about the 90 and the 120.

Seconded. Never tried the 120s. Not that I remember anyway.

For the Pepsi-heads, there is Pepsi Throwback (and Mountain Dew Throwback) available right now for a little while...essentially Pepsi made with real sugar...and it's quite good. Seems to be available just about everywhere in cans, 2 liters, and 20 oz bottles. Not quite the same as Mexi-Pepsi, but still much better than regular HFCS pepsi. Also, if you live anywhere with a large-ish Jewish population, Coke and Pepsi always release sugar versions of their drinks during passover (starts in April) and it's usually available in most grocery stores at that time. Still tastes a little different than the mexican versions of the drinks, but they're much better than the regular coke and pepsi.

The way to differentiate the Kosher for Passover coke is by its yellow cap. Usually it shows up a week or two before Passover begins.

Usually the one that gets me running to the store is Anchor Old Foghorn.

I have the best bottle shop near me. They had a handful of single 120 Minute IPAs of various years. I got a buddy at work two of them. I am a huge fan of their Midas Touch.

Edited for spelling fail.

A case of Shiner Dortmunder.

My favorite! I also love Anchor's Liberty Ale. I used to live up the street from Anchor Brewery. I miss the smell.

I don't really like the 90 min. The alcohol just wipes out the hoppiness and then it doesn't taste like an IPA anymore, which is too bad because the 60 min is so good.

I don't have a picture, but I purchased an 8-gallon fermentation bucket for beer brewing.

While the idea in general is not silly, the silliness comes from the fact that I don't have a brewing setup at home. I've been helping a friend of mine brew some beer, and we planned on brewing this weekend. His fermentation bucket is currently occupied with the fruits of our labor from 2 weekends ago, so we needed somewhere for the proto-beer to hang out until it was ready to be kegged. My friend was planning on buying a 6.5 gallon glass carboy, but the local brewshop was out of them. In order for us to continue with the brew this weekend, I stepped up and bought the bucket to use for fermenting. The idea is that my friend will return the bucket to me in a few weeks once the fermentation is complete. Then I just need to buy the rest of my brewing equipment...

I shudder to think of your mole problem.

I acquired this 58" beauty last week, but it still classifies as silly:

It did wonders for my mouse problem.

Why do people keep posting reversed images? Do you all live in opposite land?

Could they tell you if they did?

Don't go straight from normal hiking boots to Vibrams. Rough terrain will absolutely wreck your sh*t if your feet aren't used to not having any padding. It was hard enough to jog on pavement at first.
Also, unsurprisingly, Vibrams smell horrible after just moderate usage. Living in a dorm I have to wash them regularly and still put them in a sealed tub so that my dorm doesn't smell like foot. The toe areas also tend to accrue dead skin that you'll really want to make sure you remove.

I find the smell is significantly reduced if you have a second pair or other set of shoes to alternate every day. Also, the injinni socks are worth looking into .
