"Discovering" regularly-priced merchandise shortly after the price has been slashed during holiday sales.

With all the 3DS and PSP2 buzz floating around I decided to dust off my launch PSP.

I tried the demo for Valkyria Chronicles 2 and immediately fell in love. Going to PSP's digital marketplace, I saw that it was $39.99. That's a lot for a handheld game. Further investigation revealed that only a month ago it was on sale on marketplace for $15.99!

Okay, I bit the bullet and paid full price. Felt a bit guilty, but hey I'll call it a special treat. I'm freaking loving the game!

What else have I missed recently on PSP? Digging around, I came up with Persona 3 Portable. A few online video reviews later and I'm sold. Damn, I never even heard of the franchise, but it looks golden. Back to marketplace.

$39.99?! Crap.

Oh yeah, there was a holiday sale for that one too. $19.99.

Le sigh.

I hate to be an enabler, but you should check out Ys Seven. By far one of my favorite PSP games.

Monday morning, 10am, my right ear stopped working.

I assumed it was just a 'normal' wax blockage that some softner and a syringe flush at the GP would fix. He did too, as he had all the gear out when I got there at 8am this morning (after NO SLEEP from the ringing in my ear all night).

Looked in my ear to make sure... NOTHING.

Clean as a whistle, but I still have this feeling like there's a balloon in my ear canal, and no sound travelling into my ear.

3 hours later I'm under a CT machine, having iodine solution added to my bloodstream for imaging. I have another test tommorrow, then an appointment at the Doctor's straight after. I'm also on antibiotics incase it is a 'hidden' infection. I'm allegic to penicillin, so the subs that they put me on don't work 'as well', but still make me feel like absolute crap.

The worst part is the way the left ear is failing to compensate. Reverb, echoeing, no adjustment to volume. Even the giggling of my kids has been contorted into a piercing shriek I can't escape from. It's no fun when Daddy has to ask them to stop laughing so loud. No one should be asked that.

Thanks 2011, I thought we had a deal not to suck as much as 2010...

Sorry to hear that, brother. Sending some cross-pacific-positive vibes your way!

Bought some stuff on Amazon intending to get it shipped to Singapore using a Forwarding service. My first shipment has arrived at the Forwarding service, but since my card isn't "approved" yet I can't actually get it cleared.

Bigger problem? I leave on a 3-week vacation in about 10 days and unless I can ship it by Monday, there's a good chance it won't make it here in time. That means I'll have to leave it in Forwarding storage for over a month, and after 30 days, I'll have to pay $5/day for storage. Gah!

Don't have somebody you trust locally to have it shipped to and have them hold onto it for you until you get back?

Somehow I didn't think of that - probably because I'm embarrassed to ask people to help me out when it seems like I could have avoided this situation if I'd been a little smarter about timing my purchases.

And just like that, on my nth refresh, I can finally see the Shipment page! New nerd-gear on its way, squee

It's been a while since I've vented to anyone or anything.

*I used to screw up a lot at work and despite my performance turn around, my boss is a dick along with my office mate.
*My grandmother has dementia for a bit now but she fell and broke her hip.
*My grandfather is acting like a dick to steal all of my grandmother's money to waste it.
*I still dont have a working computer because i cant afford to replace it.
*My "friend" who i sold my desktop to before moving still hasn't paid for it
*My mom already had her gal bladder removed (no cancer), thyroid removed (cancer), and still has to get her liver checked because of possible tumors/stones/whatever followed by complete removal of all her female organs because of, wait for it, cancer.
*Her chemo is hell and she's already lost all her taste buds/sense of taste and her first body scan was today that laster 25 minutes of being absoluetly still. The nurse called her back tomorrow to do it again.
*Radiation treatment and scans for the rest of her life.
*My dad is still unemployed after nearly 19 months. f*ck this economy and job mark and everyone in power and those who pull the strings behind the scene.
*The stress of going to work and dealing with two assholes all day every day. If it wasnt for them it would be a really good company to work for.
*The frustration of trying to get anything done on my cellphone because i dont have my computer.
*This post has typos and i cant be assed to fix it.
*Being in debt after being unemployed for so long then getting married then being temporarly employed at a lower wage, then going on a honeymoon, then moving across the country, then going on another vacation because we had the airline tickets already paid before i was let go. 37% apr? f*ck you Amex.
*Being enslaved to my damn job to pay off my debts and try to make anything.
*Frustration and being pent up.

*My uncle who has the balls to call my dad asking for $100k after stealing all the money from my great aunt and turning my grand parents on my mother.
*Said uncle is paralyzed, suffered a stroke, two heart attacks, kidney failure, bed sores, infections everything and he still wont die. Just die already and leave my family alone.
*My f*cking foot and tendon that causes pain in every step I take and the possibilty that I may be disabled for the rest of my life if this sh*t doesn't heal, which who knows if it will.
*United Health Care for only paying $44 of my podiatrist so its $125 each visit. I pay over $400 a month and you can't be assed to pay for a $175 visit. f*ck you.
*f*ck you to my co-workers once again. You make my life a living stress and all I want to do is work hard in peace.
*Feeling disconnected from the forums here because I've lost all touch of gaming because all i have is my PS2 that I could never sell.
*Knowing that I can probably never if not for a long time persue my interests as a living because the pay is just too low.
*The past four months of working for these jackasses making me feel really bad about myself, making doubt my intelligence and skill even though I admire my boss greatly.

Probably the only thing I can possibly help on. I've got spare parts though so just let me know what you need. Seriously. I've gotten rid of a lot of stuff but I still have some stuff I don't want to just "curb-chunk".

I'd be willing to donate my EVGA P55 + i5 750 combo when I do my sandy bridge rebuild. I have a spare case too. If I can afford the shipping when the time comes, I'll mount the motherboard in my Stacker RC-830 and ship it to you with the processor still mounted, sans cooler.

+1!

I'd like to know why, in an otherwise fair and just society, Windows Server 2008 is allowed to exist.

My god I hate it. I hate it with the white hot incandescent fury of a thousand suns.

Presumably because they are at least attempting to care about security at the most basic level? =)

Telnet? Really? Is this 1997? Use SSH!

Suddenly my complaining about having to pay $39.99 for Persona 3 Portable seems pretty trivial.

Yes, I'll just use that default, robust, SSH client that's installed on windows by default....

By "they don't have telnet" I mean "they don't even have telnet". I'm all for not running a telnet daemon, but not even having the client is just bad manners. Basically my network diagnostic toolbox at the moment consists of ping.

Ping is important.

Double down and upgrade that to "impactibility".

OH MY GOD. These people must be stopped.

But the impactibility of this program will have synergistic ramifications on the cohesiveness of the various units impactful ability to successfully realize our new paradigm of business practices in this new age of total information dialogue between corporate departments as we advance our end goals of dynamic modularity......

Ahhh, that's a porch with a ceiling.

I like it when people take a verb and then inexplicably turn it into a verb again, e.g. "impactify".

The action of impactifying something shall be henceforth known as impactification.

Impactificactionating.
