*Release* Rift Catch-All - if it isnt for any of the other threads - it goes here

Pages

Edit - Edited from Rift interest and Guild thread to general catch all - please use other threads as appropriate.

GWJ Guild will be playing here -
Faction: Defiant
Server type: PvE with Warfronts as our PvP mechanism
Name of Guild: GWJ
Ventrilo server will be the standard GWJ server and is highly recommended.

Tyagaraja
*Defiant preferred
*Guild Name proposal: Gamers with Jobs (brand recognition, baby!)
* I'm going to be rolling a cleric for sure, we need all the healers we can get. I'll probably roll a warrior as well.
* Not sure about professions
* 8pm-12pm PST

Probably more important that calling out individual classes (since you'll have them all), is calling out what "calling" you're going to play -- warrior, cleric, mage, or rogue. That's the distribution we care about.

Bean / Bumpie
- No preference
- GWJ
- Warrior type
- Leaning towards armorsmith
- 8 - 12 EST maybe two or three nights a week

- In beta now, on wolfsbane. Pally/Reaver/Warlord named Bumpie

If they don't announce shards before release maybe we can just say go alphabetically and take the 5th down or 3rd up from the bottom or something like that. Of course, if they announce them, all that isnt needed.

One last thing I meant to post, do we want a PvE or PvP shard?

SpyNavy
- No faction preference -
- No ideas yet for a good guild name -
- Ranger, Elementalist, Cabalist
- Outfitter
- 2030-2300 EST
- PvE

- In the beta - multiple shards

Djori/Ajari
- defiant
- GWJ Defiant
- rogue(something/something/bard), mage (chloromancer based), cleric (justicar based)
- no idea (can someone point me to a primer on crafting?)
- 7pm+ pst weekdays
- pve (recommend pve since it seems with warfronts we will be able to get all the pvp we want for a while anyways)

TrashiDawa
-Defiant
-Gamers With Jobs
-warrior or rogue
-PST ~8-12

Edit:
-PVP shard

Junzt/Pond
-no faction preference
-Gamers Rift Jobs
-most likely necro/warlock/dom mage or assassin/rift/blade rogue
-outfitter, but I'm flexible
-typically 9p-1a central (gmt -6)
-pve/pvp

In beta (faeblight)

Saeras
-Defiant
-GWJ Defiant
-Caster, healer
-Not sure yet, just have Foraging so far
-Afternoons and Evenings (west coast)
-PvE

Slytin
-Defiant
-GWJ Defiant
- Justicar, Druid, Sentinal in that order for priority
-Armorer, Mining
-Evenings and Weekends, Central
-PVE

Ok I think that PvE and Defiant are a lock. Now do we want the guild name to be GWJ or Gamers With Jobs or some derivative thereof?

Argh! The rogues are just too darned fun in this game. I tried starting out as a saboteur and then picking up assassin and rift stalker. It is a bummer that only the saboteur finishers explode the charges you place but that is only a minor gripe. I leveled up to 9 so far and up until 8 I was running primarily sabo. At level 8 I respeced because assassin's get a near mandatory talent that maxes at 8 that gives your criticals a 100% chance to cause a %300 weapon damage bleed over 9 seconds. It is funny though that I am killing things so fast, I can't tell whether its working or not. I do still plan to level sabo exclusively. I just had to max that assassin talent once it became available.

Oh boy. It is going to just be tough sticking to just one rogue let alone playing another calling.

BTW is there any way to go grab the third soul for the characters we leveled before the patch that gave you 3 souls early? I have a almost 14 bard/nightblade that would like its third...

You could try petitioning a gm during the next beta, otherwise I think you can purchase them off trainers. Not certain about that, though.

What is your experience with multiple mobs with the assassin?

With just the 2 points into saboteur I get a lot more versatility out of the assassin. With 0 sabo points I get a ranged snare bomb and a minor damage aoe bomb. With 2 points I get ranged charges (ranged combo point generator) and a ranged combo finisher. So I can stack at least 3 combo points before the monster closes and I can mix in some aoe. Both of those will help against multiples.

But in my experience, 2 mobs can work me down to halfe before I kill one. But then the second doesn't get much more of my hp down before its dead too. I think a few fights it has come close with less than 1/8 hp but most of the time its between 1/4-1/3 hp remaining.

I think its prudent to get any assassin based character either some aoe, range, armor buff, heals or any combination of the above. If you want to stay single target stealth attacker, definitely get some riftstalker or bard for +armor or armor and heals respectively.

If you don't care about stealth then by all means get some range from marksman, ranger or saboteur. (or bard as cadence is no joke) Nightblade is servicible here as well.

Bladedancer will get you +parry but prior experience with mmos indicates that if parry is effective at all, it will be nerfed.

Also, assassins second poison is a nasty one that allows ensuing hits to bypass armor of a poisoned target.

If i remember right Bladedance gave you a bunch of escapes or pvp handy skills

My favorite combo for Rogue is Ranger/Bard/Riftwalker. Range DPS, Pet, Buffs and a wicked escapability.

Well assassin does give you stealth, sap, and 2 damage+utility poisons among other things. (backstab, snare, stun)

I like the ranger despite the pet being pretty meh. (most pets are meh) And I have found that the pet gets you into trouble with adds every other fight. You do get "bonds" (buffs) with the pet right?

10 points into riftstalker is great if only for the +endurance% and +armor% passive talents.

And the bard is hard not to take in any build.

I think the assassin will do well with sustained dps because they have the potential for a lot of damage that has no energy cost with the 2 60 minute duration poisons and the aforementioned +300% crit bleed.

Do the rogue pets have aoe at low levels? I never had any problem with unintentional adds with my necromancer's pet, plus the little guy was practically indestructible. In all my time playing that character, the only time the pet died was during a prolonged group fight when Inhibrious popped out of a rift near a quest hub (and he was an elite boss mob 6 levels higher than my pet and I)

Most of my problems with the pets early on is the AI goes out and intercepts the target halfway from pull range. A lot of times another monster will respawn or wander too close to your pet and aggro. The pets go down like a knife through butter so you end up with 2 monsters on you.

Its not that big of a deal as most often it means your pet needs to be resummoned. But sometimes with a bad luck streak, it causes you to die.

I send the pet out first, then start my attack as the pet engages, rather than attacking first and letting the pet intercept. It's a little slower but it offers more control and doesn't force your pet to pull aggro off you. You also don't need to hold back on dps for fear of pulling the mob off your pet.

Should probably create a dedicated RIFT class discussion thread.

Created a class discussion thread.

the next beta period has been announced, starting on Tuesday, January 25th and running through Friday the 28th.

Name: Cicero / Cicc / Ciccero
Guild Name: GWJ
Faction: Either, but leaning toward defiant.
Archetype: Rogue (DPS and tank) / cleric alt
Server: When I play in the beta, I play on Wolfsbane guardian, but I've spent a lot more time on defiant.
Crafting: I will be outiftter, runecrafter, and butcher on my rogue main

I also have my brother, and several additional friends I am trying to pull under the GWJ umbrella for go live.

Gotcha, I am going to spend some time in the next beta exploring guild options in order to get it kicked off early on in release. Need 5 members and a bit of gold is what I can tell from beta. If anyone wants to join me on Shatterbone next beta cycle we can form a test guild.
