Demigod Catch-All

Need one more for a 2v2!

My apology for skipping out tonight. I totally forgot because how busy I was. I just recently found a way to be productive and it seems to be working and now I'm catching up years and years of being lazy.

Yeah yeah, get everyone excited then never show up

We played for about 3 hours, 8 until almost 11. The game sure is fun. We only got a chance to play vs CPU units, but it was good enough until we can get a larger group sometime in the future.

My computer died last night.

It's either the HD, power supply, or mobo. Not sure what yet but it's going to be a pain to diagnose. Sorry for the no-show.

We need to do this at least one more time except with 4 people so we can have some actual human v human competition.

I got sad when I looked at the arena selection screen. So much empty space on there, makes you wonder what sort of plans they had for the game. They should have at least released a map editor so people could do the work they didn't want to do.

Also Oculus is just plain goofy in that chair. Awesome, but goofy.

Care to share?

Very much fun times last night, even only playing against the computer. And I think I did ok, despite my inexperience, at least until someone convinced me to play Mr. Floaty-chair. I'm sure I didn't level him well, but I just couldn't get a handle on him.

I think I'm going to try a single player run through of Oculus and see how that goes. I like some of his abilities but I just don't like the fact that he's a General.

I just realized I'm not gonna be playing this anytime soon; I'll go about giving my key this weekend (reads tomorrow). As soon as I find a way to unlink my key from my impulse account, I'll post about this in the trading thread or the pay it forward one.

If I can't unlink my impulse account from my key, whoever gets the key, please handle with care; "Hobbes2099" legacy on Impulse compares only to the Ming Dynasty itself. I know, it's a terrible burden to bear.

I'll post tomorrow morning.

Why do people not like Generals?

I don't know if people in general don't like Generals. I personally don't like them because I feel like there are already more than enough things to spend money on that buying idols gets in my way, and then I can't help but feel that my General builds that avoid Idols are underpowered.

I don't think that's actually the case, that's just the impression of gotten. I think the big problem is that the Generals that I like (Sedna, Queen, Oculus I think) are the support Demigods, and that's the thing that makes them appear weaker. I have only been in large enough games that the support roles, especially the Queen, were reasonable choices to pick like twice.

Oak and Erebus are both super powerful regardless of their "General" status.

I'm up for another multiplayer game sometime today, even a 2v2 compstomp. I've been running the Demon Assassin through his paces in singleplayer and would like to give him a try online.

I can probably play a bit later (starting a L4D2 VS game right now).

Sedna is fairly powerful too if you play her that way, pounce is very powerful and I used to get quite a lot of first kills going for that before heal. Late game she gets a bit weaker if you are behind but mid game it's almost impossible to kill her 1v1 with most demigods if you play her right.

I think that the UB is the counter to sedna. The amount of range damage and a lvl5 stun can take her from full health to nothing in seconds.

UB is definitely the toughest to play against. Usually they have the advantage early game but you can still get a kill in if they are careless, late game it normally depends on how the match is going as to who has the advantage, if you are even the slightest bit behind in items UB can usually kill you if you aren't careful. Senda was just about the only character I played in Demigod after I'd tried all the characters, I found people underestimated her and that in itself helped you get kills.

The Torchbearer's ice aura slows health regen at high levels, which really helps against Sedna's health regen aura.

I have put in a ton of time into this game again this week, and it is so disappointing to see that some of the bugs that we complained about months ago are still in the game. The life bars are still broken so that it appears that you are seconds away from killing an enemy when they really have 1/3 of their life left. Sometimes you will be unable to cast items for no discernable reason, and at other times if you try to cast a spell out of your range your Demigod will just stand their dumbly instead of closing the distance and casting.

**Sigh**

I'm seeing new AI bugs too, which I didn't notice before because I mostly played multiplayer. There have been many times where Demigods will stand around doing nothing and ignore your attacks (not only when they go stand by a tower to recuperate health, but sometimes out in the middle of the battlefield for no reason. Oak seems particularly susceptible to this.

Wow. For 5.99 it's totally worth it if you like the DotA / LoL games. Besides, name me another game where you can actually play a castle?

This game is depressing. So pretty. So fun. So much potential for more (maps demigods, items). All destroyed by a sh*tty launch and sh*tty netcode.

Also, I am still pissed I bought this full price, day one.

I bought it 3 months before it was released. But I did get my money's worth out of it (around 300 games) but each and every one was laggy.

FYI, this is on sale right now for $5.99.

Worth it?

edit: Damn, skimmed in my lust to bring GWJ a deal. Still...worth it?

It's definitely a great game. I don't know how much they've sorted out the netcode. I bought it several months after launch and had a lot of fun with it and it wasn't terribly buggy, but it was still hell getting a game going some nights. I'd really like to hope it's improved, but League of Legends has it's hooks in me. With the tons of champions it has, LoL is overall a more interesting game, but Demigod is easier to learn in some ways.

I do wish Riot would steal the Citadel upgrade mechanic and make a new map with it so games wouldn't stalemate for ages so often.

Oh man I loved that game. Great death animations and bleeps from my pre-sound blaster days.

On sale for $5.00 right now.
Think I'll pick it up, should be worth it even if I just play a couple matches.

Maybe we can set up a marathon for the weekend? A revival of sorts?

It is a great game, but officially dead

Yeah, the last time I played online a couple months ago it was obvious that multiplayer was never fixed completely, it's still pretty aggravating to play a match.

$5 is probably worth it for the 6-7 hours (that may be generous) of singleplayer you may get out of it, but I wouldn't pay more at this point.
