Stuff You Make or Sell (GWJer Arts & Crafts)

Pages

I wanted to make a quick plug for my wife's arts and crafts shop on Etsy called Artemis Studio:

http://www.etsy.com/people/ArtemisSt...

Including this awesome periodic table double light switch face plate: http://www.etsy.com/listing/65403117...

And rather than simply shill for her (marketing plant!), I thought I'd open this thread up to the community and ask, what do you make?

Me, I make nothing with my hands that turns out nice, but luckily my wife is very good at it.

She sure is! She has some beautiful things on there - I particularly like the Paris necklace. That's a talented lady!

I make things, but I never thought they were worth selling - maybe I should reconsider that and sell stuff on Etsy! (Cards and handmade tea towels and dish cloths).

Thanks, she definitely is.

You should! It's pretty easy to do, and their cut is relatively small. I think 3 or 3.5%.

I don't make things; I make other people's things better. I edit.

I am looking to find someone who crochets or knits...I find all sorts of cute hats that I like on Etsy but have never ordered from them before....if anyone has the talent/skill or knitting newborn baby hats...I am looking to buy some!

A quick plug for my wife's Cafepress shop:

My wife has an Etsy shop for her greeting cards: http://www.etsy.com/shop/JenniferRodgersArt?ref=top_trail

We're repainting soon and may need some new switch plates. I'll add the shop to my favorites.

Nice art! Love the rum one.

My wife added a couple of math-related light switch plates to her store, they're really neat.

Oh boy.. I read that as *meth* for a second..

I make organic salves and balms on my etsy shop. And I will be expanding to make knitted french press cozy's and organic beeswax candles.

Here's an example of the stuff I've been drawing (not exactly high art, but it amuses me):

Er... I mean... thanks for the plug!

If Duckideva were still around, she makes soaps/etc as well as the wienerbomb.....

I make mugstraps(for hanging your mug from your belt), pouches, I've also made sword, knife and dagger sheaths all out of leather. I do not have a website, but friends of mine that have a booth at several small rennaisance festivals around the midwest, sell my mugstraps.

edit: doh, and apparently I make double posts..sorry all.

I crochet, but, tagline notwithstanding, don't knit yet. I've mostly made blankets, and have never tried to sell what I've made. The only hat I've ever made is this one:

I got in trouble for not mentioning that it was my wife's hand-crafted jewelry website.

Knitting tends to have a right and wrong side. On the "right side" the pattern is smooth and has lots of interlocking "v"s when knits are done, and the pearl side is bumpy looking and sits at a different height from knit stitches (hard to tell unless they are near one another, but it can be used to make patterns in the work). The first brown hat might be knit, but its tough to tell from that out of focus photo. The others are all definitely crotchet.

My website for my side business. We do custom laser etching and anodizing, along with a little powdercoating.

I added some stuff that GWJers would like to a Gallery on Etsy. Feel free to send me suggestions and I'll update (errr, curate) the list.

I half-read that as bnpederson.com.

I think we need to add powdercoating to the monkey-bra, rubik's cubing..

Well, if you ever need a flask with the avatar 'o' doom etched on it, let me know. We can even do it upside down, so he is watching you while you take a drink.

Here's hat #1

(hat #2 is in-progress).

Hey, Creators Of Awesome Things! Critterpalooza is coming up, and I'm gathering items for our silent auction. This is the 9th year I've put on this event, it's a fundraiser/adoption day for our local animal rescue organizations and a fantastic showcase of some our finest local musicians. I'm going to try not to tarnish that reputation as I'm performing this year too.

So, I was wondering if any goodjers might want to donate a bit of treasure to our auction. Our silent auction brings in about half our overall take, and we feature itmes in the $25 - $50 range. I like having interesting items that people don't see every day, so, naturally I thought of you guys.

Contributions are tax deductible, pm me for details.

I made these recently:

Crocheted dice bags

IMAGE(http://i589.photobucket.com/albums/ss332/Mimble75/GWJ/dice_bags.jpg)

And two ruffled scarves

IMAGE(http://i589.photobucket.com/albums/ss332/Mimble75/GWJ/scarves.jpg)

Also, Critterpalooza sounds pretty cool, what sort of items are you looking for? And when is the deadline? (I just saw this post today, so I might be too late already).

Edited to add: I am coveting this necklace so hard right now. These marble pendants are beautiful!

Looking good! The beads on the drawstrings are a nice touch.

Thanks!

I shortened the strings on the blue one a bit, and am making more bags for the friends in our D&D circle. Suddenly the plastic boxes their Chessex die came in just weren't quite good enough...
