Demon's Souls - Catch All

I accidentally killed the blue guy in the nexus, was he important for anything? I felt really bad. I was tired and accidentally hit R1 next to him. he survived, but then the next time I talked to him he acted really scared of me. I came back another time, and a storied soul was there in his place.

He would have disappeared even if you hadn't hit him.

Got to old king dude with the help of a blue phantom. Phantom was taken out by the dragon though. The king beat the living crap out of me and took me down a few levels. I can see why he is king.

I highly recommend killing that dragon. Get ~300 arrows and stand right under him when he's clinging to the castle. You can lock onto his head from there. It's tedious, but makes runbacks so much saner.

The king took a bit of work the first time I got to him. After that, I never died to him on later play throughs. He's definitely tough and I never increased vitality enough to take a single hit. What makes him easy is he will telegraph all of his attacks. All it takes is a bit of trial and error learning which way to dodge for the various attacks and you're golden.

Soulsucker.

That is all.

EDIT: Hmm, apparently they've changed this. I swear I used that spell to one-shot the Old King, but now word is that it has no effect on him. Curious, perhaps I beat him some other way then.

Oh well, still the most awesome spell in the game.

EDIT 2:
Ah, Death Cloud must have been what I used.

Man, the bosses in this game are freaking difficult. Does anyone know if flamelurker does fire damage or physical damage? He runs up and does a lot of smashes and ground pounds, and I can't tell which resistance to use.

Pretty sure that he does a lot of Flame Damage. I had to break out my Purple Shield to get by him.

He does both, it depends on his attack. His ranged flame blast can be almost entirely blocked by the Purple Flame Shield, but his close up smash does more physical so it's better to dodge that than block it. Overall you'll do well to wear high Flame Resist gear, and use dodging to avoid the melee hits.

There are some bosses who hit so hard that it doesn't matter what you're wearing, you'll still die in 1 hit. This is why learning how to dodge well is so important.

What happens when you're killed by a black phantom?

I had just killed the dragon in 1-2, and I ran back to the stone to cash in my souls for a level. It then told me I couldn't return in multiplayer. A few seconds later it informed me that a player had invaded my world. I didn't want to lose my dragon souls so I hid behind a wall in the phalanx chamber for about 10 minutes. He came into the chamber and got about 20 feet away from me, but apparently didn't see me, so he turned around and looked for me a bit more before eventually leaving. It was petrifying.

A devil gets a pitchfork.

Nothing to bad you just die and go back to soul form.

Oh ok, I thought he might get all my souls or something like that. If I only had like a few thousand I wouldn't have cared, but I was sitting on enough to level up and was afraid he'd steal them haha. I guess I should have just stood and fought.

nah you would have been able to get your souls back just like if you were killed by a normal enemy. Since you were pretty close to the entry point a battle there would have been risk free unless you really wanted your body.

Note also if you go into someone's world as blue phantom you keep all your souls even if you die in their world.

UNLESS if you are killed by an invading Black Phantom. I learned this one the hard way, the full set of rules is:

Invade and die - lose your souls
Get invaded and die - Just like normal death (as Baron said)
Join as Blue Phantom and die to the level - no penalty
Join as Blue Phantom and die to invader - lose your souls

Just beat the game. Yeah you can see all the kings attacks coming a mile away. On to mass effect me thinks.

Just finished the game. I'm gonna go cure cancer now.

Piece of cake!

Can anyone explain how strength and dexterity bonuses work?

If a weapon has letter next to a stat it will give you a bonus based on that stat. The is bonus rated S,A,B,C,D or E with S being the highest. So if you have weapon with a S rank in strength and a really high strength stat you will deal a lot of extra damage. However, if you are using that same weapon with a guy with a low strength you wont get as a big of a bonus.

When you look at a weapon you will notice a number with a plus in front of it. That number is the extra damage you will deal based on your stat and the weapon rank. Some weapons don't have any bonuses but they might have other effects like causing bleeding or ignoring shields.

Does anyone have any personal strategies for easily changing world tendency?

See here: http://demonssouls.wikidot.com/world...

Worked for me.

Did anyone do 3-3 against actual players? I tried it, but it keeps putting me against the same guy that one shots me everytime and I can't put any damage on him.

I did the 3-3 boss mostly against actual players. Some were a challenge, and I got a friend to help me, others weren't so good. Also worth noting - The 3-3 boss is the *only* time where a friendly Blue Phantom can die to a Black Phantom and not lose their souls. This makes a Blue Phantom on that boss basically a free meat shield.

You guys are gonna absolutely hate me. Pure Bladestone dropped on my very first BP Dual Katana Black Skeleton.

Hey that just means we have a 2nd person to hook us up and let us hold a weapon sometime.

Definitely! Only I'm failing at farming Chunks of Bladestone. They just won't drop!

I have a million shards though, so useless.

Edit: Cloudstone chunks are even worse. The worst part is I can see half the drops but can't reach them.

It was a pain, but I managed to get all of the ore trophies (sharpstone, bladestone, cloudstone, etc). If anyone needs to hold any of the weapons for the achievement, I'd be more than happy to help you out. I don't know how to do it though, so someone would have to explain it to me.

What level are you?

I think you just drop the weapon on the ground, we pick it up, then drop it back to you. Just have to be within 10-15 levels and then figure out a nice out-of-the way place to drop blue stones

I'm 122 at the moment.

Cool. That's a little easier to reach than RNG's 178.

I think I'm 106ish atm. Any time this weekend to help a brotha out?
