WoW BHA Player vs Player

I have the blessing of the powers that be to be the tip of the sword on this one. I am looking to get a bit of organization in rated battlegrounds and the arena.

So here are some factoids.

We currently have a 2, 3, 5 person arena squad. The 2 is filled up, space is open on the 3 and 5.

Arenas are a bit more pick up friendly. I would like to have it so we can hop into a match or two each day or so. They more we play and win, the more conquest points and thus gear. The better we do, the better our chances are at a sweet title, a fairly prestigious mount, also bad ass versions of racial mounts as well as the war mammoth, and guild perks.

Rated battlegrounds are trickier. We need to queue up with a 10 person raid. That takes a bit more planning that getting 1, 2, 4 other people on board in a night. I am open to suggestions on what day of the week would be most amicable for people to do this. Monday is leveling group night. I do not think there is a set in stone PVE raid night.

As most folks know, I am a bit of a weekend warrior[shaman], I do most of my playing in the late morning or early afternoon on Saturday and Sunday. I plug in an hour or two a night during the week. This is plenty of time on any night to run 4-6 battlegrounds, depending on how we fair. Most are over, win or lose, after 15 or 20 minutes.

I would propose Wednesday or Thursday around 8-9 server time for when I can run groups through the battlegrounds. But I am flexible, and know many folks are more focused on gearing up for the new dungeons.

EDIT 1:
Consensus seems to be that Wednesday would be the best time to get folks involved in battleground raiding. This will get you some conquest points, and some more gear.

There is no limit to how many rated battlegrounds we can do in a week, just on how many conquest points we can get. The better that we do, the higher our rating, and the more points we will get.

EDIT 2:
Conquest points: The minimum is 1343 per week. Strictly speaking, if you max out each week, you should be able to get a new piece every week or two. That is not a "wallet." You can stockpile points week to week, there is just a limit on how much you get each week. Like honor, there is a max to how much you can bank, 4,000. This means that you can stockpile no more than 4,000 total.

Some good info about Conquest Points here.
Cliff Notes would be that your Rated Battleground or Arena Rating needs to be around 1200 to make much of a difference. The current ratio is 1.147322. Multiply that times your rating to get an idea.

It is your highest rated PVP that determines your conquest point cap. You could have a rocking 2v2 rating, and a horrid rated BG rating. Your cap is determined by the top rating.

There are 6 possible brackets for this:
2v2, 3v3, 5v5 arenas
10v10, 15 v15, and 25v25 rated battlegrounds.

Additionally. If you have hit the conquest point for the week, your winnings in Rated Battlegrounds will be converted to honor. You can spend that on more gear, or PVP mounts.

My biggest dissapointment in the game after turning 85 was finding this out. I thought the rated BGs would be a way for people to gain Conquest points (beyond their first bg win of the day) without having to rely on a group.

Obviously the more full and organized groups would have the advantage but a single person would be able to move up in ranks up to a certain point before having to need the full group to go higher.

Regardless i'm up for as much organized pvp as possible. Not only is there loot but the new rank achievments is what i'm after. Want my worgen hunter to get a rank at least as high as my dwarven hunter.

Another thing to keep in mind is that Tol Barad has its own faction and rewards with daily quests. It also has a new dungeon boss. Strangely enough over the past week that i've been on the Alliance has had control over it more often than not.

I can commit to doing some PvP on Wednesday nights after 7 server, and ad-lib over the weekends.

Would be nice to get a whole crew together so we could do rated BGs. If we can fill 7+ spots, it probably wouldn't be hard to find a few people on the server looking to do the same that don't have a full group themselves.

My Paladin can do some serious healing if I ran a raid approved Holy spec, but then I'd be utterly useless in Arena. I have to do some more research and see just how viable this Shockadin build I'm using really is. The sub-4k DPS I was able to do on the dummy last night just isn't going to work. I'll get my DK or my Priest up to 85 once I get my Paladin raid-ready, which shouldn't be more than two weeks away.

Once I hit the 80s I'll be interested as well.

Tol Barad now awards 1,800 honor if the offense wins. We should really hit that as a group. It'll be tough to win, but I can't imagine that it's impossible.

Edit

I'm up for as much pvp as possible since I don't really have any interest in raiding or heroics. KG, feel free to kick Xosa from 2s, 3s and 5s team. After getting almost 2k resil I really don't like the changes to resto druids and have no interest in balance or feral. Unless you guys want a druid I'm switching mains to my paladin (holy) but am only 74 atm. Give me a week or two and I'll be ready for arenas/bgs again.

Gravemold's nearly 82, and I should have him ready for PVPing quite soon.

Done and done. We did eek out a few wins in 3s last night. I am still seriously debating switching to enhancement. I get another cc spell with frost shock. My total goes up to 3 cc spells then. But last night, I realized we need mele dps. Maybe someone can point me to where a good mace and off hand drops for shaman.

Where is a good pvp place to get the Christmas PvP achievement?

You can get a nice offhand Axe from JP points if you have any. Enhance also will get you more health if you spec into it.

Alterac Valley, if you hang back, or Isle of Conquest, if you man a turret.

Well you'd actually have to use your CCs then
I'll try a few more nights of this shockadin business. If it isn't enough I'll respec to a more raiding focus spec. It'll close to double my healing output, but give me no good way to dish out damage.
It is starting to get pretty fun though. We ran a few BGs after you wimped out, and it was pretty cool to put the hurt on some baddies.

Grenn, if you have not done so yet, get the BG quests for Alterac and Arathi. The gold is insane. I will look at the JP vendor for that axe. I only have a few hundred points. Maybe I can heal or DPS on some dungeons as people gear for heroics.

But strategy wise, me and TK our mage are too similar to be versatile enough.

Definitely try out enhance. This seems like the best its ever been, plus it finally scales well. Even without wolves out, you're still a freaking monster.

So I've chain-ran BGs for two nights in a row. Having a blast in BGs as a shockadin. Arenas... well maybe that'll grow on me, or we'll be good now since KG isn't using crappy trinkets from last expansion

I'm not sure why, but I always go for the Horde Paladins when there's a skirmish in the BGs. Last night in WG I picked out a BElf Pally and gave it everything I had. She seemed to do the same. It was a complete stalemate. Holy vs Holy is a never ending duel. It was pretty fun for about two minutes until she called on her dirty rogue friend to come. Party over, as I was out of mana.

People, it is time for Rated BGs. I needs me some Conquest Points. I think we have four, maybe five, peeps that are leveled and g2g. Need a few more.

What is a good and reliable source for PvP info out there (builds, theorycrafting etc)?

I am really digging enhancement. Letting maelstrom build up for instant lightning, healing, hex is great. I am tearing anything not in plate to shreds. Warriors and DKs are tricky.

Arenajunkies.com is about as good as it gets.

Are there any classes or specs that we need for rated BGs or arenas?

We have two Holy Paladins already, otherwise I'm not too sure.

Alright, I'll scrap the Holy pally. Choices are Resto/Feral druid, UA/Demo lock or Resto/Ele shaman.

Or Disc/Shadow priest.

I think a cat druid would be right at home on our 3 and 5. The polymorph immunity is very valuable. But play what is fun to you. I also have to say, we filled up quicker than I expected. In no way do I want to prevent people from forming other teams, not led by me.

I am over missing out on a tol barad win last night, barely. I was not pissed at losing, I was pissed at Female Doggoing. In aproaching 20 years of competitive online multiplayer or LAN, Never! has typing lame insults in caps helped. Chatty Female Doggoes get ganked.

And yet I have healed 2 pugs in a week with no gay slurs, even when the mele DPS died a lot in my halls run this week
.

Thanks for the advice. 2 Alterec Valleys and I got it. And we won the second game, so Achievements all around!

TK and I maxed out our conquest points last night, we had a good run. I cashed in some for the epic off hand fist weapon. It is mostly a model change as stats are fairly generic, plus it looks cool and I get to say that I am fisting people to death.

A couple of the matches were nail biters.

Ran, We have encountered some good hunters lately. I bet if we work on your spell bar and maybe some macros, we could have you putting some heavy damage out.

Ya i've been working on getting ready for raids, but i know i need to get my pvp setup tuned up. Back when i did this all the time i had a lot more info at my fingertips and quicker responses.

What do you guys think about getting some rated BGs in today or tomorrow? I think we've got 5-6 people definitely interested but we can pug the rest. For the 15v15 this week, we need 12 guild members in the raid to get guild experience. Heres a link that answered a lot of the questions that I had about the system:

http://blue.mmo-champion.com/topic/1...

Good to know that our conquest point cap can be raised by arena or rated BGs.

I'm online and very interested in RBGs today and tomorrow.

I do not have a serious problem with gathering riff raff to rated battlegrounds. The problem is you do not queue like for a dungeon. We will either have to spam chat channels or find a brother/sister guild to pad our ranks. Personally, that seems like more trouble than waiting for folks to hit 85, maybe start some of their own arena teams to get points.

As I have seen. There are the people seriously interested in PVP first, there are also people interested in dungeons primarily, and arenas or battlegrounds second. However you want to play, I find that groovy. There are folks who want to avoid the chaos of the arena like the plague. We are a big enough guild, with more 85s each week, that we can all find our fun.

I am having a lot of fun running arenas with the folks who are interested. I would not be heartbroken if folks were not prepared for rated BGs until next season.

I would make this case that you can get a lot of gear, pretty fast in PVP these days. Between Tol Barad Penninsula dailies, and the Tol Barad instance you have access to a lot of honor and marks. But I am also finding it pretty easy to max out on my 1343 conquest points each week. I am finding it a lot quicker getting the higher ranked gear.

If you really want to get prepared for raiding, not even PVP on the side, I think it behooves you to get some of the gear. As a healer, no wipes, I spent about 45 minutes getting my justice points. In that time I could have maxed out my Conquest points for the week.

Gonna add this in on the heels of our quick Tol Barad raid last night. Sunday, around 8 server time seems to be a good time. This serves a dual purpose. 1, for two weeks now I have been running folks on our arenas to max out their points for the week. But also, we have a lot of people on at that time. I say 4unday become our weekly TB run-1000 justice points is no joke and we spend some time before or after running ranked BGs.

It is like any other raid, we need heals, dps, CC.

Sunday might a raiding night? Maybe I'm wrong.

Monday's are good nights for pvp since everyone is trying to get games in before the Tuesday resets. Queues for arenas/rated should be the shortest. Lets try to get some 5s in tonight.

A few of the 5s members are in the leveling groups that run tonight, so not likely to happen.
For me, PvP night is Wednesday. The queues are never more than a minute or two on any day I've ran arenas.

I forgot all about the leveling groups, sorry. Sunday or Wednesday it is then.

Make sure you guys save your conquest points this week. You'll get the 1395 (somewhere around there) and then next Tuesday all you need is 5 wins or a few more losses, and you'll have another 1300. The weapon upgrade costs 2450 so you'll have points left over. I'm only mentioning this because I've seen quite a few people in BGs with offhands/relics/bracers that they bought with conquest points without realizing that the points accumulate each week.
