Back to the Future - The Game Catch-All

Yes, there was probably a thread on this earlier, but the search function can't find it, so what are you going to do? Gametrailers (by way of Kotaku) has two behind the scenes videos, featuring one of the original creators of the movies, Christopher "Doc Brown" Lloyd, and someone who sounds exactly like Michael J. Fox circa 1985.

Apparently, the Bluray set comes with a code to get the first episode free. Mine should be coming in the mail either today or tomorrow so I can confirm later.

Darn, I was hoping Michael J. could reprise his role. From what I've seen of him here and there, he'd still be capable, with a flexible enough schedule and a patient sound engineer.

They guy they found to do Marty's voice is spot on. It's uncanny.

The impersonation is astonishing.

Yup, I want this. Please don't screw it up, TT!

Wow. That is amazing. I give props to that guy.

Wow, my skepticism is overcome. I'm all about this now.

Also, Telltale is giving away the first episode for free: http://www.telltalegames.com/bttfoffer

Holy crap. That guy's voice work is spooky good. This is definitely on my radar now.

Jumped in

I'm in and super excited.

Wait...anybody can get the first episode free? But, I spent all that money on the blu-ray set just for the code to get this. Now what am I going to do with Back to the Future blu-rays?

Got it. Thanks for the heads up.

I'm flabbergasted. I just watched all the videos on telltale's website and what I was concerned with was who would play Marty and I don't think even Michael J. Fox could do a better job, which is really strange but also reassuring... somehow.

I also hear that pre-ordering nets you Puzzle Agent as a bonus. I'm really tempted to drop the dough on this!

Puzzle Agent is a nice bonus...paid full price for it and didn't regret it for an instant. Very much hoping they come up with another installment.

The "new" Marty McFly is okay, I suppose...pretty darn close, but I still maintain the Real Deal would have been better. Eh, whaddyagonnado. At least it sounds like they had the decency to offer it to Michael.

Not seeing the free episode offer via any of the links posted above. Am I just missing it, or has it gone bye-bye?

Michael has pretty much retired from acting so he can focus on his Parkinson's disease research foundation.

Link has been deactivated, although you may still be able to use the 121GIGAWATTS promo code at checkout.

How come there's no preorder on Steam?!

They're probably still working out what the TF2 items will be.

Episode 1 drops on December 22nd.

Dead Space 2 demo 12/21. Back to the Future 12/22.

Squee!

I have such a huge backlog of games that I'll just wait until the 5 episodes of Back to the Future come out before I buy them, then they'll sit in my backlog until my EGADD has me fire them up

Ya know, I can understand why they wouldn't want to give away their game on release day. Still, this kinda strikes me as a dick move.

Apparently in addition to the code give-away that I took advantage of, you get the first episode free with the BttF blu-rays. I just learned, two days before release, that you can't get that free episode until February, right before the second episode comes out.

Yeah, I mean I can see where the criticism of the delayed release for the free episode is coming from, but it's still free - kinda hard to argue with free.

I own the Blu-Ray edition, I'll use the code, and do my best to exercise restraint until February.

I can't argue with free, but being a little clearer would be nice. I assume there have to be some people that purchased the blurays in part due to the free episode, and they're probably miffed. I just used a code, I can't justify real anger.

Yeah i might be a little bit annoyed with the Blu Ray purchase but i'm not too bothered by the "right before the second episode" dealie for the online thing.

I bought the blu-ray set and I didn't get a code. I preordered the entire series so it doesn't matter to me but, if there was going to be any outrage over this, I assume it would have been over the fact that people (at least some of them) didn't get a code

Anybody playing this yet? I am having the damnedest time getting TT's site to work right now. After watching the quick look on Giant Bomb I decided this is perhaps worth 25 bucks, and I'd rather give money directly to Telltale than giving some to D2D.

Ok, got it going now. I justified this purchase because my recent car repair needs were unexpectedly totally free.

Surprised this isn't getting talk. Also, thanks for the heads up on a GB quick look of it-- going there now.

That Quick Look was fantastic. I was sold before I watched it and I'm double-sold now.

Any news on console release dates (360/PS3 specifically)?

Just finished the game. It's a ton of fun, especially if you're into the movies (of course). The script, the voice acting and the music are great, and the art design is fantastic.

Not very difficult or lengthy, it's more of an interactive short movie than a serious adventure game. Subtle hints abound for every puzzle, even without taking an official 'hint'. Just talking to the other characters will telegraph almost every solution.

I wasn't expecting much after some disappointment with the Sam & Max games, but this has me salivating for the next episode.

I just finished the first episode. It was probably a little short but I enjoyed it (although I'm a little biased since Back to the Future is, like, my favorite thing ever). Heads up to anybody looking to play it on a Mac, you need to change the name of the program to make it work. Just delete everything after 'BackToTheFuture101'. When you try to run it as it's name, when you hit the play button it will just close the program.

I like story so far but it doesn't seem like you will be going to other times which I was really looking forward to. I'm a little disturbed to find out that Doc is 71 in 1985. I know he wasn't very young but that means he met Clara when he was 71 and later had two children. During one of the conversations with Doc, he implies that the kids are in their late teens which means he's, at the youngest, almost 90 in the games.
