SC2 Pro Tournament Discussion

qxc has been absolutely dominant in his games today. I'm really pulling for him to keep on 3-0ing his way to a new laptop.

Sadly, 0-3 for him. I have yet to watch his earlier plays (only saw the final), but qxc got schooled pretty one-sided.

So in answer to "who" he is "A guy who has a replay on sc2casts"?

I'm gonna stick with "That random guy who got second to qxc in that one EG Master's Cup".

Also: Anyone that though qxc was going to win that laptop was delusional

That wasn't the *actual* final. qxc technically won the tournament. He just didn't win the bonus final for the laptop against Idra.

No, he has a daily on his game and is quite known at least to me. Not some super famous, but he is also awesomely good.

Well - having now seen IMMvp chew through Zenio, FruitDealer and now working on Leenock, all with this same marine-tank push, it's clear that someone is going to need to do better than muta-baneling against it, or at the least, control the mutas and banelings better.

To be honest, I thougt that both Zenio and FD played bad. I mean, at one point both were on 4 bases vs 2 and they still didn't win, no one even had a spine crawler to help defend.

I can't watch right now. I assume these games won't be getting VOD treatment?

IMMvp must be getting bored. Battlecruisers on Steppes of War.
Edit: Idra, also clearly tired of playing standard games too...

Don't know, but that would be my guess as well.

From the sound of it I guess I'm not missing much?

Wow.

Team liquid tells me MVP all-killed pretty much the best possible lineup of Zerg players in the world, dropping only one game out of 11.

*sigh*

I hope somebody figures out something for ZvT soon. It's been getting more and more brutal to watch over the last few weeks.

Score roundup for others that missed it:

MvP vs Zenio :: 2-1 (L. Xel Naga || W. Steppes || W. Shakuras)
MvP vs Fruitdealer :: 2-0 (W. Lost Temple || W. Jungle Basin)
MvP vs Leenock :: 2-0 (W. Scrapstatiion || W. Xel Naga)
MvP vs NesTea :: 2-0 (W. Shakuras || W. Steppes)
MvP vs Idra :: 2-0 (W. Scrapstation || W. Delta Quadrant)

Justin.TV of all places? Thats pretty cool. I guess they saw how many people were using it to watch the GSL.

Not exactly tournament level, but an amusing short game on Steppes of War from an open tournament with PsY.

Schedule for GSL 2011 was announced:

Code A: http://www.gomtv.net/2010gslopens3/n...
Code S: http://www.gomtv.net/2010gslopens3/n...

So for most days it will be 2 Code A games and 6 Code S games. Hope you have lots of free time after New Year's! (Although it looks like all matches are single games, no best of 3's until round of 8).

And it looks like Jinro and IdrA will play first game.

Why do they put Jinro and Idra first like that? Do they just want to get rid of the foreigners first? Makes no sense. How do they seed people anyway?

It was a random drawing this time. They even did it live, though I missed it.

The seeding process was linked one page back - and I only know it because I just caught up on my reading here and saw it 45 seconds ago

Am I the only one who has trouble figuring out what tournaments are going on, which ones stream live for free, and which ones provide VOD's after the live matches?

Wow.

Just watched Tester mothership rush Fruitdealer on Xel' Naga Caverns.

Link? That sounds awesome!

How did the games go? From what I gather P raped Z but I can't find the results.

There's no VOD stuff for those games. It's stupid, but there you go.

I just spent a few minutes and can't find any kind of rebroadcast or anything anywhere.

It was actually much more competitive than TvZ was.

Gisado Challenge Toss vs Zerg bo3 KotH
/ choya 2-1 Kyrix
/ Idra 2-0 choya
/ Idra 0-2 Genius
/ Genius 2-1 Leenock
/ Genius 0-2 NesTea
/ NesTea 2-0 HongUn
/ NesTea 1-2 Squirtle
/ Squirtle 0-2 FruitDealer
/ FruitDealer 0-2 Tester

Also, lol @ Choya. He said he really wanted to face Idra before GSL. Well, now he has

The premium service page is up for GSL 2011. It looks like they're going two routes this time: with ads ($10) and without ads ($20). GomTV said the ad version will consist of one ad playing before the VOD starts, so no annoying interruptions during the game. For some reason you can't buy the no-ad version yet but they said it will be available at some point.

GSL 2011 starts this Sunday, Jan. 2.

Code S Group A starts in about an hour and fifteen minutes

You're off by an hour. The stream is already up with the usual k-pop videos.

Did not even realize this was starting up already. But I'm up, so I might as well watch. Nestea vs PoltPrime right now. I didn't catch all the rules for these tournaments. Are these still best of threes? And how are they picking maps? Totally random again, or has the veto returned?

The TL post has today's matches. It's a bunch of BO1 and the map veto is back.

nossid wrote:

Not my fault the "Go Live" button lied to me.

And now that I've watched the VOD of the one game I missed I can't say anybody that didn't catch it missed much. Some fairly crappy games today. Nestea looked good, and everybody else looked really really rough.

I have to say, watching live was particularly dull. It's not just that the games weren't great, it's also that there was more than the usual downtime between what turned out to be only five games. Though it's possible that it'll be better once the Code A tournament also gets going.

Poor Artosis.
