Homefront - Catch all

No release date yet given on Kaos/THQ's spiritual successor for Front Lines Fuel of War.
Not having seen anything yet pretty cool they got the writer from Red Dawn to write the story for the game.

Now if they only had Patrick Swayze and Charlie Sheen doing the voice acting it would be awesome.

“Homefront isn’t about going to war on the other side of the world or battling aliens from another planet; it’s about fighting foreign invaders in your own backyard and defending your right to live,” said David Votypka, design director, Kaos Studios. “Homefront combines the unsettling notion of an occupied America with interactive, player-driven narratives to create a deeply engaging single and multiplayer experience.”

“Kaos Studios is using powerful narrative and environmental storytelling to create a plausible, near-futuristic setting where the people of a once mighty nation must fight to maintain their existence,” said Kevin Kraff, vice president of global brand management, THQ. “This harsh backdrop will be the foundation for an emotionally-charged single-player campaign and an intense multiplayer experience.”

I keep an eye out on this. I had fun with Frontlines.

Kaos is good people, and the collaboration with Milius sounds intriguing. Cautiously optimistic.

This sounds great. I cant remember the thread it was discussed in previously but maybe this could be a game where your objective is to survive rather than kill the enemy.

Footage from E3 still looks pretty cool for being this far away.

Seems a step back from Freedom Fighters.

Huh, interesting. I loved Frontlines, though I never got into the multiplayer part of it. I'll be keeping an eye out for this.

For those interested, a couple preview articles have been posted from a media event we held last week:

Awesome!

The game looks like it has come a long way since last E3. I love the idea of civilian resistance cells. I can't wait to see more.

That looks pretty impressive.

I enjoyed most of the non-broken parts of Frontlines' campaign; I like what I've heard so far of the current project.

We have similar tastes, because I think this game looks freakin awesome.

Alright guys, last night Homefront was on the Gamespot Live Stage. Interview with the Lead Designer/GM and nearly the entire gameplay demo that we were showing at E3. I hope you enjoy it.

Looks awesome and like i said in the other thread... the new video is freakishly current.

This looks great, but he mentions 'single player campaign' which makes me sad. This looks like a fantastic single player experience, and I hope they don't overextend themselves trying to shoehorn MP onto it.

Multiplayer is actually a big deal at the studio. Kaos Studios started of with Battlefield 2: Desert Combat and then Frontlines: Fuel of War, which has a strong multiplayer component. We know that our fans expect a strong multiplayer and we don't plan on disappointing them.

Later this summer, I believe we plan on unveiling our Multiplayer. I'll try to post more info when I'm allowed to.

Premise alone sold me.

Well, based on premise alone this is day one for me:)

That looks outstanding. Assuming you guys don't get stupid with the DRM or the DLC, I'm in for sure.

I cant wait to see what the multi holds for us in the summer. I think the gamespot walk through shows the game off best.

Just got done watching the Gamespot demo. Damn, if only I could play that now. I'm worried it won't hold up graphically next year; it looks on par with current titles. I'll just have to wait.

First MP article / preview up on IGN.

There's a whole stack of new videos up at GameTrailers, including a few that I've been watching on xBox Live.

I'm quite interested in this, being that I'm big into shooters and also fascinated by this kind of societal collapse/future war scenario. I find it interesting that North Korea was chosen as the belligerent though.

My biggest question is around how the 'American resistance' is going to be presented. I mean, this game could take you through the progression of a green civilian from lookout to runner to bomb planter to full-on combatant. Imagine a tutorial section which revolved around keeping watch while your older comrades planted a bomb on a Korean troop truck. Imagine the cognitive dissonance of playing in a virtual insurgency of the kind US troops are fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan.

I somehow believe, though, that it's going to a series of relatively linear pitched infantry battles though. I'd like to be wrong - a game-based examination of the effects of invasion on the American psyche and character would be really compelling. But I suspect it'll be mainly explosions.

Watch that^.

Huh. Pretty cool. They had me at the dude on the Stairmaster-rigged water pump.

I'm definitely going to keep an eye on this one. I still feel like it's going to be both pretty linear and pretty explodey, but it looks like it might have some Half-Life 2-esque storytelling going on, which is pretty cool.

Yup, I am going to have to spend some money on this one.

XBox had a video for the multiplayer part of the game. Looking sexy!

This looks like a Day 1 for me. I'm going on information embargo now, before I watch those videos. I was impressed enough with the one I saw a few months ago.

Well... Day 1 if it doesn't have invasive DRM. Hopefully they'll just use Steam.

And who the heck cares if the graphics are a hair behind the newest stuff? You don't play the graphics, you play the game. Sheesh!

Yeah the more I see and hear about this game the more interested I get.

I've got nothing to add to this thread other than the trailer made me drool a little.
