DC: Universe - Catch All

I'm guessing it has a lot to do with the fact that I read a lot of Marvel growing up but very little DC. I just never liked their heroes that much.

The DC universe, Jim Lee or any of that marketing hoopla was never a draw for me for this mmo. In fact they could throw that all out and it would be a better game in my eyes.

The hero customization and interactive combat are the main draw for me.

While the exact new release date has not been made public, SOE announced in a press release that those players who have already pre-ordered, as well as those who pre-order prior to November 15, will get a guaranteed spot in the ongoing beta.

Ehem, ongoing beta? No love for gwjers? *cries*

I guess I'm just going to have to play it to see if the combat works for me. From the videos I've watched I'm just afraid it's going to be more of a brawler ala Marvel Alliance. And for hero customization, CoX is still my gold standard which is a bit unfair since they've had years to add new costume pieces. *shrug* Maybe Champions just killed my enthusiasm for super hero MMOs and I'll have to wait for DCUO to reignite that spark.

Sorry! Been busy lately.

To answer your question: PS3 Beta isn't up yet, but should be 'sometime soon'. I dunno when.

You guys were asking about character create earlier. At NYCC they did a full blowout on CC, and you can check out a trio of videos on the subject over at GameTrailers.

That's pretty hot, man.

Anyone who's pre-ordered can submit an image of their receipt to start the process to get an invite to the pre-order beta period. For anyone who's ordered online, I've read on the forums that a screenshot of the email receipt will work.

They played DCUO on IGN's Extra Life marathon today, and will be doing so again later this evening. I believe it's at 8pm pt / 10pm CT / 11pm ET.

If they put up archive footage of it I'll be sure to link here, it went really well.

The YouTube version of the first (really good) playthrough is up:

Check it out.

Hey thanks, too late for tonight but I am looking forward to watching it tomorrow.

Makes me want to play. It does look like fun. Question it leaves me with though is about what the end game will be like. With the max level being 30 what is there to do after that? Starting another character really isnt a valid option for me. They mentioned that they've not played with the raids yet since they're only in their teens so no info for us yet.

*SMACK* double post *BAM*

Hrm. The character customization in that video looks a little... simple.

He mentions several times that more options becoming available as you go along. I wish that the video included those options, just to show the full creator and not just the limited starting creator.

So there may or may not have been a round of beta invites out yesterday...

Let the sad pandaness commence.

yah, nothing here either=(

*cough* Ahem.

That is all.

I created a DCU channel on the goodjer vent for those who want to *cough* together or curse the gods that they're not able to play yet.

I hear it's a decent size. It might take me days to download. If I had access.

I'm looking at pre-ordering a digital distributed version of DCUO and to make use of the entry to beta.

However, while Steam is listed as one of the distributors and is my preferred choice, it is region locked to me at the moment.

Other two alternatives would be Direct2dive and from Sony Station Shop directly.

Any recommendations from the Goodjer collective which would be a better way to go?

I personally have stayed away from Direct2Dive after reports of bad customer service and slowness of specialized patches for the games on their service. The Sony Station Shop I know even less of.

While I know gifting is a way around the region lock in Steam, I'm not sure if that is possible with pre-orders. Especially if a beta key via pre-order now requires the email receipt to be sent to them.

I don't think the patch issue would apply to the D2D version, as most MMOs have their own patcher. You might not even have to download anything from them at all, possibly just the installer when the game goes live.

Don't you guys just love WIN television? I just love WIN television. WIN television is, if I may, epic.

Boy, it sure would be awesome if I had recently opened up my email and saw the beta waiting. And even further awesome if it was currently installing right now. Not so awesome would be the 15.5 gig download. That is, if that's the size. I hear that it is.

I worked from home yesterday and downloaded something that may or may not have been that size.

Boo! at everyone...

Yes, it sure would be awesome if the same thing happened to me. I would probably RDP to my home computer and install it after noticing the download size. I would also probably play it as soon as I got home from work.

I know it's not a beta invite, but I'd just like to note how freaking badass our newest Wallpaper is.
