NBA 2010-11 Regular Season and Playoffs!

Pages

So any other hoops fans out there? I know I've seen a few in the NBA video game threads.

Obviously a lot of people love/hate the Heat and/or Lebron right now.

Phil and Kobe are shooting for some records with the Lakers this year still.

Any post-season predictions?

Steve Nash just said the other night that he doesn't think the Suns will make the playoffs. Not exactly the inspiring motivation you expect from your all-star captain.

What's going on with your local team? Do you care? We've got 82 more games to go except for the 6 teams that played tonight. Plenty of time to talk about things.

NBA.com has a nice article about off-season acquisitions that might make an impact. There were more deals than just Lebron ya know. Thoughts?

Anyway, it's opening night already.

Celtics beat the Heat. Suns went down to Portland. And the Lakers are holding on against the Rockets., 2 seconds left as I type this. Great game.

EDIT April 14:
So the playoffs are here. Bracket here. First round schedule here

Let's start post-season predictions!

And the Lakers held on.

What's going on with your local team? Do you care?

To answer my own question, I've always been a Pacers fan. Since Reggie retired it's been pretty ugly though. Maybe with Lebron out of the Central Division and with Granger and some young talent surrounding him we can at least get back to .500 basketball, which is good enough for the playoffs in the East.

And of course as a Pacers fan I still love to hate the Knicks. Hope they continue to suck after saving all that money for Lebron.

As for who might win... can the Magic, Hawks, or Celtics finish in the top of the east again, or will Miami get the best of them? Will the Bulls get better and move up in the playoffs? Will Boozer help them (if he plays)? Does it even matter who wins the East or is the West still dominant?

Is Nash right about the Suns? Are the Mavs and Dirk too old to challenge the Lakers? Speaking of old, does Duncan have another run for the Spurs? Or is it time for Melo in Denver or Durant in OKC to finally step up? Will Oden ever get healthy in Portland? I still think the Lakers are the team to beat.

Enjoyed watching the Celtics beat the Heat last night. I don't follow the NBA much, but I do hope the Celts can make it to the playoffs again this year. Good start!

The NBA season is in interminably long. I'll chime in when there is relevant data. All I know right now is that the Heat only have 73 wins to go to break the record for wins in a season.

Watching the Blazers/Clips game atm. Blazer homer but I'm really impressed by Blake Griffin. He's been an absolute beast in the 1rst quarter.

Griffin looked incredible. We'll see if he can maintain that energy level, but wow. The Clips have promise.

Surprised that Cleveland 1-upped Boston last night.

Also, can't wait to see the Heat come mid-season when they've had time to sync-up, the rematch against Boston in Miami should be ferocious.

My Pistons are so very terrible. 6 players that play the same position. No good big men. Going to be a long season...

T'wolves, eh? Yeah, that's rough.

LOL

You had me looking up to see if Sash Kaun made it to the NBA after all. But it looks like he is still in Russia.

No. It's the name of the T'Wolves' GM. He makes such bad trades and draft picks that fans have starting joking about yelling that when he does something, partially prompted or amplified by Bill Simmons.

I liked the Wesley Johnson pick and Beasley trade, to be fair.

I guess every Heat game is going to be on national tv this year huh?

Think I'm sick of them already after 4 days of season.

Rest in Peace Maurice Lucas. As a kid watching him, or listening to the Schonz report his play on the radio he was bigger than life. As an adult he remained just as impressive.

Three games three blown leads for the Pistons. It's going to be a looong season. Forget wait until next year. This is wait until 3 or 4 years from now.

So that John Wall guy seems legit, eh?

I think once Boozer comes back the Bulls may be the most interesting (not best) team in the league. I'm a big fan of Joakim Noah, and Derrick Rose is beginning to look effing elite.

Wow. Rondo is serious about assists huh?

Discussion on AtH/PTI today about his MVP chances if he were to keep up this ridiculous assist total.

Yeah, it's a weird thing about him. He's clearly one of the best PGs as far as "quarterbacking" goes, but he can't really shoot so teams get lax or straight leave him open on defense. Then he just drives and creates even more holes to exploit. I think teams'll adjust, but averaging 15/15 wouldn't shock me.

Not in my region, and I've been looking for 'em! Next Thursday, Nov 11th, is the Celtics vs Heat rematch I've been waiting to see

Kahn got dealt a complete sh*t sandwich and is working hard to make it taste better. The local fan base is a lot less critical of Kahn than, say, Brad Childress. The local media coverage is a little more critical, probably because they're jealous that Kahn (a former media guy) got a dream job.

If Ricky Rubio pans out, he'll look like a genius.

He'll look like a genius? He could have Stephen Curry now.

Yeah, the 2009 draft was what really sunk him and the team (for now). I'm pretty sure a core of Curry, Love, Beasley, and maybe Demar DeRozan would be quite the upgrade going forward.

It should be interesting. They made huge strides between the Celtics game and the Magic game. The other games have just been kind of sad affairs where a 25+ point lead is established and a boring cruise control kicks in.

Beasley? Good luck with that.

I'm pretty sure most people will agree that the Heat only let him go for cap reasons. If not I can say for sure that they gave up on him way too quickly.

Speaking of boring games, did Orlando really beat Minnesota by 42 last night?

Little bit of column A little bit of column B. As someone that followed the Heat before July I can tell you that the writing was on the wall for him last year. Maybe he'll shine in Minnesota next to Kevin Love? A #2 draft pick shouldn't be a project and that's what he was down here.

By next to Love, you mean next to him on the bench where Kurt Rambis sits him for most of the game?

The Minny situation is a huge mess, with the apparent grudge that Rambis still holds for McHale...

...The only two players left that McHale brought in are Corey Brewer and Kevin Love, and like carrot points out they've been letting Love ride the pine too much. Gotta love the shorts and mustaches, eh?

I can't really get behind that logic. Plenty of very valuable NBA players weren't instantly playing at their max potential. Andrew Bogut, 2005's number one pick, comes to mind.

Man, they're pissed...

Maybe they should take a step back and realize there's no such thing as loyalty in professional sports.
