Star Wars: the Force Unleashed II Catch-All

I don't remember the demo for the first game being this fun, the combat seems to have improved somehow.

There's something about the art style in this one that's bugging me. It looks like everything is washed out or muddy. Starkiller almost looks cell shaded. Why doesn't this game look as crisp as its predecessor? Is it just me?

im actually a little disappointed they put the severing in.
I used to play the game with my son watching and liked the fact that it was goreless. He'll have to wait till eh's a big boy now to be able to see/play this.
Good demo. I played on the Wii and foudn control to be reletibvely easy. Played the demo on teh PS3 and with my old-man hands I found it more difficult to pick-up and play. I guess it's just a getting-used-to-it scenario.

There's no blood spilling, for what it's worth. Just dismemberment similar to the Lego series.

I'm with Certis on this one. I remember being all super excited about the first games demo. Then the inevitable happened. It turned out that my light sabre was only as good as a padded pool cue. I could just bump my enemies on the head a few hundred times.

Lego, obvious lego block dudes exploding into lego pieces is not the same as a humanoid, lifelike dude getting thier head/arm or leg chopped off and falling in a heap.
I know there's no blood, but it's just not an image i want to give to my 7 year old.

We used to play that the guys were getting "defeated" and coming back to life, not dying.
Nobody dies in video games. only in real life.

yes that's my way of explaining things...

Yikes. This thing is getting hammered in reviews.

GamePro 2.5/5
IGN 6.5
Eurogamer 5/10
Game Informer 7.75
GameTrailers 6.3
Joystiq 3/5

Chopping off appendages is as Star Wars as wookies and the Millenium Falcon! I'm not a Jedi unless I'm dismembering fools.

Ouch. But meh, I was always going to rent first.

I'll go along with that, but comparing it to a Lego game is not the same.
I'll miss playing it with my son, that's all.

poor little walker.

@groan - no worries man, I'm sure I'll have to grapple with these tough decisions when I decide to bring forth some spawn of my own.

edit: youtube BBCode not working for some reason, enjoy:

AT-AT Day Afternoon

I'm sad to see all of the low scores for this game.

I preordered and should have it tomorrow. Guess I'll let everyone know my impressions.

I finished the last game but didn't really like it. The reviews so far makes it seem worst than the first one so I'll probably not be picking this up.

Ouch. Well I guess that settles that.

I was a big fan of the first one, but after reading some of the reviews I think I'll pass on the sequel. It sounds short, rushed, and unimaginative. The first one was appealing to me because it took some skill to beat on the hardest difficulty level, the story was interesting, and there were many varied locations. It sounds like part 2 has lost all of those qualities.

Ding Ding Ding... we have a winner.

I just got through playing it on the Wii. Here's my thoughts:

Pros:
1. Saber combat in the first one had me flailing my wiimote around for every swing, now it's set up for the A button, and most of your other more advanced saber combat moves (combos) are simple swings.
2. Dual wielding sabers. You can upgrade them separately as well.
3. You can aim force lightning.

***SPOILER WARNING***

Cons:
1. There are literally only 4 levels on the game. You start in Kamino, hit another world, run through Dagobah, fight on a ship, then you come back to Kamino. That's the entire game.
2. I was interested in the story of the first game. In this one, I felt extremely disconnected from it, and felt like I was just being told what to do.
3. Very few boss fights.
4. Jumping puzzles. I f*cking hate jumping puzzles.
5. Instead of adding new characters, they gave cameo appearances to Yoda and Leia. Both were brief.
6. Force Rage. This is your one-hit-kill button, it insta-kills multiple enemies, and if you upgrade it, it will even restore your health. The rest of the force powers are fairly meaningless once you get this one.
7. Mind Trick doesn't work as you would think. If you mind trick two enemies, they will probably fight each other. I expected them to join up to fight the guy I didn't put it on... maybe I'm just being picky.
8. Quick-Time events were done half-assed, with little imagination. I wasn't particularly fond of them in the first game, and somehow reducing the number of them actually made me a bit more frustrated. In the first one, you might have to wave up, then left, shake both controllers, wave left, wave right, wave up again, hold the wii-mote at an angle, etc. In this one, you might wave left, wave up, then shake. Then it hits a cutscene. And it doesn't vary it up much either.
9. You get the good-ole light/dark choice at the end of the game. I chose light, hoping to get some more story, and didn't. I'm not even curious enough to load up the last save point and see what the dark ending is... I just don't care.
10. Level design and art are horrible. I was awed by FU1. I was bored and frustrated by FU2.

I could go on and on with cons. If you see this in a bargin bin, it might be worth getting, otherwise don't waste your money.

Annoyingly and artificially lengthened boss battles. Repeat after me: fuses don't just fall out on their own.
