Bay Area: HedgeCon 2010 - Oct 23

Mmm, caviar pie.

Not close, and much better =P

So - after weather reports suggest it will be pissing tomorrow, I declined on BBQing. We'll figure what we want to order for dinner as we get closer. LOADS of pizza options, burritos, etc. etc.

Munchables provided all day, and into the evening. And brownies for later?

Picked up on a whim today:

Win.

Hey - I neglected to pick up more tonic, so if anyone wants gin/vodka & tonic, can you bring some please? Thanks!

Wow.

I was planning to bring a bottle or two, but after seeing your collection I think I'd rather keep my terrible taste in rotgut a secret and just bring some mixers instead.

It's not all awesome. I do have a case of Heineken available.

I'm in love with the GWJ whiskey (whiskey? I hope it's whiskey) and Hendrick's of course. Is it a clear or brown day? Do I really have to decide?

Nerdtastic and I are riding in with 7inchsplit and his crew, and I believe we're stopping for extra supplies. I'll make sure we grab some tonic - what else do you need?

The love of my fellow man? Otherwise, any other mixers you might need (should you want to mix, say, a Rabhattan).

If you are coming by BART and I haven't already made arrangements you have two choices:

a. Because it's a ~30-40 minute turn around time, we should arrange to pick everyone up at once to maximize fun time for everyone!
b. At Millbrae station, you can switch to CalTrain and come to the San Carlos stop.

IF YOU ARE COMING BY PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION, POST HERE AND THE GROUP CAN AGREE ON TIMING/LOCATION.

Public Transport people (which I think is now Seraph and MightyMooquack): what time and which station? Millbrae BART or San Carlos CalTrain?

Does a 3pm pickup at San Carlos work? I can catch an earlier/later train if it's easier on you guys.

Also, any last-minute pickups I should make on the walk to the station?

Anytime sounds fine - 3 is good. Folks will be arriving anywhere between 1 PM and 5 PM... just can call my cell when you get to Hillsdale (2 stops in advance) and we'll send a car to San Carlos station.

Anyone expecting a pick-up at Millbrae, we'll need to coordinate in advance since the turn-around time is longer.

I'm going to try to leave around one. Traffic through the city is going to be a bear because of the rain and the Bridge School Benefit. Hopefully I'll get there at a reasonable hour.

After reviewing my options, I have decided to take CalTrain, and will seek to take the train scheduled to arrive at 3:01 PM.

Demiurge: I am putting in a request now for you to do an extra special Rockband performance of Lady Gaga's Poker Face. Please for the love of all that is holy do this for me and get it on video or I will cry myself to sleep for a week.

Seconded, but I prefer Cartman's.

Edit: And I'm off. See you all there.

I believe this was an unmitigated success! Thanks in large part to all the awesome folks who turned out. I hope everyone got home safe. I apologize if I didn't get a chance to chat much with you, or perhaps say goodbye. My wife commented several times that everyone was really cool.

I really appreciate everyone showing up, thank you for your generosity, and I hope you'll all be willing to come back and finish off the giant pile of booze. 'Cause there's a lot of it!

Thanks all! Video and pics to follow in the next 24 hours or so...

Please tell me that includes you rocking it like James Brown.

Extra special props to you and yours Hedgewizard. It was an amazing event. You've got 2 special ladies looking after you too. (and the dogs too!)

And your wife is amazing! Thank you so much for the pizza and brownies and all the extra little touches that we overlooked but made everything silky smooth.

Until next time!

HAH! First comment by attendee And I don't even live here...yet...

Had a blast! Many thanks to Hedgewizard, Mrs. Hedgewizard (and little hedgewizardess) for letting a bunch of goodjers into their home.

Had a blast trying to learn/ teach Neuroshima hex, and teaching like 8 people Dominion

I think we all lost count. And Demi, nerdtastic's a keeper.

ThatGuy: you left Roborally here! We'll find a way to get it to you.

Also, someone left a wired mic. Was that you Cory?

Once, twice, a thousand times x2. It was great to see everyone this weekend, and it wouldn't have been possible without the warmth and generosity the HedgeWizard clan displayed in welcoming us into their home. Thank you.

Also, apologies for my rampant photogramania; an old friend surprised me Saturday with the return of a long-lent DSLR, and I really appreciate everyone tolerating me whipping it out throughout the night.

Here are a few over-exposed highlights:

I had a fantastic time. Thanks so much to HedgeWizard and his family, you deserved the winning draw from the random number generator that you got. It was great to meet everyone, and I am very much looking forward to more of these in the future. Especially if they include more games of Ravenloft and Red Dragon Inn, but next time we will definitely need to actually drink every time we draw a drink card in Red Dragon Inn.
