Seattle Area S&T October 23rd!

I had mentioned wanting to do something on the 23rd in the S&T Heard 'Round the World thread, but it's starting to get real here, and I wanted to start the ball rolling.

We don't have a solid venue yet. Teneman is looking into the Victory Lounge. If anyone has any other ideas please speak up here.

I can also host at my apartment complex's party house, but it's out in Redmond. There's a living room with a TV where we can set up Rock Band or Reach or whatever, a sitting/dining room with a big table for board games (I can bring a couple card-tables too), and a full kitchen (I would be willing to cook and I will probably still be up to my eyebrows in birthday cake). It doesn't cost people who live in the complex anything but we do have to sign up. It's about 30 feet from my apartment, so it's convenient. We're close enough you might even be able to use my wireless and play Minecraft.

Newly Finalized Plans:
===================

The Time, and the place - Starting at my place at 2pm or whenever people want to start arriving; then moving to the "cabana" at my apartment complex when the gang who rented it before me gets done (around 5pm). We can stay there until 10pm. If anyone's still interested we can move back across the parking lot to my place. Or depending on interest, we can move the boardgames to the cabana and leave the noisy stuff at my place. Lots of options, here.

I live in Redmond not far from the end of the 520. PM me for more specific directions and other contact info.

Food - I'll be providing a main dish (I'm contemplating my infamous chicken pot pie; if anyone has any requests feel free to pass them along), and a vegetarian option (current candidate is my equally infamous portobello stroganoff). If you wish to bring something, munchies, a salad, or an interesting bread to share would be cool.

Will have a selection of generic soda (will make certain to include diet and caffeine-free options) and bottled water to drink. If you want anything more interesting than that, feel free to bring it.

Desert will be a selection of fruit and my birthday cake, which for the record I don't want to try to light on fire again.

Games:
I just looked at my shelf and despaired of listing it all. Suffice it to say if you want it I have probably got it. Could use extra Xbox 360 controllers or Wiimotes (I only have two of each). I have a full Rockband setup (Rockband 2, Beatles, and now Lego) and including a new Rockband 3 guitar that needs breaking in.

Boardgames
Munchkin. Oh Lord have we got Munchkin.
Munchkin Quest (boardgame version)
Torres
Lord of the Rings with the Friends and Foes expansion
Texas Hold'em/Calvinball
Talisman (4ed - I know, but you don't want to know what 1ed costs if you can find it at all)
Apples to Apples

Please feel free to bring anything that you have that you think others would enjoy

Tentative Nosecount:
Jonman + MrsJonman
DominicKnight
Allie?
Aendiev
Teneman
Duchess
Fuzzmaster
Matokin + 1

Houseapes are welcome. You may possibly be able to confirm the existence of my children as well (except for the one that's getting deployed).

I'm a definite maybe. Not sure how that weekend's panning out yet.

Jonman, NOW is the time for all good men to come to the aid of their [insert your local GWJ Slap & Tickle Chapter ID here].

Clearly there is a need for our Seattle brethren to stand up and be counted. (Or stand and deliver. Whichever form of standing you prefer.) After the magnificent display at PAX, Seattle cannot bend now. FREEDOM!

We're still looking into venue options. I do need to know if Redmond is right out for location for individual people.

As long as I got directions, I could probably drive out there. I can't say yet if I'm going to make it to any of them... or else I'd be really late at best, but woo for momgamer! I would definitely pitch in for cooking if we did go through with plans. Or I could bring something from my restaurant.

It's real easy. You drive until you run out of 520. It turns into the street in front of my place. The only turn is directly into the facility. I'll put together a PM package like Jonman did once things are final.

Unless someone has a better idea by Friday, I'm going to go book the room. If nothing else, maybe I can work a carpool with one of the church vans or something.

Added to the Google map.

I'm totally game for this. I can bring us Munchkin, and I do have access to a friend's collection of every Munchkin booster known to man. Plus, I want to thrown my name into the chef's hat to help cook. I can make us a Wall-e cake.

If the AFK Tavern were open, that would be a cool option, but it's not open yet, and it's in Everett. :/

I just found some complications with the room as well. We can't get it until 4pm and have to be out by 10pm. Or is that about as long as we all want to stand each other?

Another idea is for to get off my arse and finish re-working my house layout and just have you guys over here and then we can just wave our hands like we just don't care about the whole thing.

If you need help with reworking your house layout, I'm not far away and can help.

I am? I mean, I will if you'd like me to and everything, but it's a heck of a trip out from Ohio....

Actually it's funny, I'd like to live in Seattle, it's been an ongoing discussion with my wife of late. I saw your post in the other thread that I was working on the Seattle S&T with you, and I thought perhaps you knew something I didn't!

I'm sorry - I must have gotten that tangled up. We've been talking using real names in real life and I didn't want to just start blathering that out there for the world to play with.

In theory 6 hours in your clubhouse would be long enough, right? if the party wanted to keep a rockin' I'm sure there's a few bars around that you could go to. (not like i would know any >.>;;) or restaurants, or ETC...

I would think so. We do have underage party-goers, so restaurant would be preferable to bar. There's a Denny's not far that's pretty cool. Maybe if we gave them some warning, we could use them as a backup.

Hi. I'm excited to go to this S&T! I don't really have a place to contribute though since I don't really hang out in Seattle that much. Looking forward to updates.

Ok, so it looks like the Victory Lounge is not an option for minors as they are a bar and not a bar/restaurant or whatnot. Momgamer and I have talked about this and so it's a definite to have the S&T at the "cabana". Plenty of space, furnished and has a kitchen I hear. I look forward to it! So bring your card games, boardgames, foodstuffs and drinks!

23rd is Enforcer Halloween. so I'll have to pass.

Yeah, the victory lounge on any other day save mondays is a loud, sports bar hole-in-the-wall with very dedicated regulars who get very, very...into their games. Like a group of grown burlymen yelling at the top of their lungs and jumping all over the place loud. Which is great if you love sports and are there for sports. Not so much when you're trying to have conversations or play games. There have been a monday night football night or two where it seems they've been even louder and rowdier to make a bit of a point for the mere once-a-week boardgamers who are crowding in on their nightly beer-and-football rituals.

I'll talk to them today, and finalize things. Once that's done I'll post the details.

Would love to go to this, but I'll be in San Fran

I'm watching this, but can't commit. It's on my calendar out of hope. :-/

I've got things pretty much nailed down. Read the root post for updates and a tentative headcount.

If you want to just show up, don't worry, though. I cook like an Irishman - count noses and then double the recipe for good measure.

I can bring two more WiiMotes and anything else you can think of.

I'm going to try and make this one. Tentative yes, will update my status later. Thanks for hosting!

I have your extra Xbox360 needs covered. Mine is silently weeping from neglect above the DVR because I play Aion so much. I will make its day and bring it with me. I will also bring stuff for Salads. Just need to confirm I can get an early shift on that day so I can be off work by 2pm. Will haggle with my boss today.

UPDATE: Wifey says as long as I'm home early enough to help wrestle the rugrats into bed, I can come out and play! WOOT!

WooT indeed. Glad to have you.

For sure attendance for me. I didn't get the day off but I got the early shift which is just about as good. Not sure how far redmond from seattle is, but I would figure that I will be there about 5ish pm. Maybe earlier. (I'll get off at 2pm)

OK - I'm in, but the wife's not - she's got a training course for her new job that she has to attend.

Edwin and I will be there. Might be fashionably late, but we'll be there between 5 and 6 at the latest.

That all sounds awesome, and things are coming together here, too. This just might get real.

If you are interested in coming and haven't gotten a PM about how to get there, please PM me and let me know.

Well, except you, Dominic. You know.
