Penguin's Ohio S&T 10-23-10 (Reach, Mario Kart, Rock Band 2, Board Games, and Beer)

I just bought Weinhandler. Will be bringing it.

yes! I really want to play this actually.

I can bring my 360 with about 500+ Rock Band songs. I don't want to just throw my HDD into someone else's console because, without internet access, there is a good possibility the DLC won't play. (Thanks Microsoft)

I'll be driving myself in a small pickup truck, so I can't really fit my drumset and all in with me. If someone else brings the drums and a wireless guitar I can bring the Hofner Bass and 3 mics. I have a mic stand, but no drum throne.

Ok, SF, I'll put the word out for a 360 drumset and a guitar.

I don't think you can handle my wein.

I am not sure yet, however I am going to TRY and make it. I have a Halloween party I RSVPed to that night, but then I saw this.

If I can make it I have a PS3 or Wii with mario kart and 4 controllers I can bring. I could probably even throw a TV in if need be.

I am going to figure some more stuff out before I e-mail to confirm. I would be comign from Columbus if anyone was looking for someone close to them

I do not really play FPS or Table Top games, but I figure I can either learn or just sit and drink. Mario Kart would be my stomping ground.

I have it on good authority that pyro is an excellent weinhandler.

Cool! Let me know. Amongst my local friends there is a strong contingent that is quite good at Mario Kart. I can promise you booze and competition if that's what you're looking for.

Sweet, I'm interested in giving it a try as well. I expect terrible accents while playing.

@Oily: Any idea if there will be any fridge space available at the new location? Or should I plan on bringing a cooler for the beverages?

@Cheeto: If you can make it, I'd be down for sharing a ride out there.

Ah yes. I don't believe there is a fridge as there isn't a kitchen.

So if you have a cooler you want to bring, please do.

I will be bringing at least 2 (hopefully 3) and ice to go with an assortment of non-alcoholic beverages. I still need to call and see about a full-sized keg from Great Lakes as I think we're looking like we have enough people to justify it. As long as the cost isn't astronomical, that will be the plan.

I have a drumset and 2 guitars for Rock Band(360) that I'll bring. No microphone though.

Update - Just saw that microphones won't be a problem. Very very cool!

Also, I can bring DJ Hero for the 360 w/ one turntable. There's a multiplayer mode where you can play guitar w/ the turntable that is sort of fun. There's a slim chance I'll have DJ Hero 2 as well.

Sounds good, thanks L&L. I think we're officially good on Rock Band stuff now unless we want dueling bands.

sounds like it'll be one hell of a S&T, don't know how I missed this thread until now. I'd love to go, as i've never been to a one before but work might keep me from it. I'd be up for carpooling with any other SE Mich/NW ohio gwjers if I end up going. I'm just a couple minutes from I-75.

Edit: if need be, i could bring a copy of mario and 3-4 wiimotes.

Sounds good, wil. Let me know =)

So who wants one of these sweet little numbers?

If you want one and you can bear to wait until the 23rd to get it, order it and put a note on there that you'll be at this S&T, Trueheart will print them for you and just bring them with him, saving on shipping.

Okay, So I am offically attending the festivities!! I am also bringing a friend. I will send a e-mail to Oiley and try and figure out this spreadsheet. It says all needs have been filled? Should I still bring my Wii with Mario Kart, SSBros and 4 wiimotes? or does need nothing mean need nothing?

So confused!!

We're at the minimum for wiis but not controllers or copies of mario kart, so if you could bring those, that would be great =)

I don't foresee having more than a single TV running Smash Bros at a time, so my copy will probably be enough for us.

Oh and hey, NBA Jam will be out! Let me know if anyone buys it and wants to bring it, that could be a good time right there.

I second the call for NBA Jam!

Cha-cha-cha-changes.

Good news, everyone! New venue! (yes, again. Shut up).

But this venue has internet.

And private parking.

And a kitchen.

And bathrooms (I'm sure the last place had them but i hadn't seen them and... you never know).

And it doesn't have any foot traffic.

And a ton of room if people want to sleep.

Basically, a buddy of mine pulled a few strings and we have access to the entire first floor of his office building. Tons of room, a few sound proof rooms for board games and rock bands and a room with walls we can write on. Please let me tell you which room that is before you start writing on things. Yeah, so I'll get you the address probably tomorrow and we can cement our plans.

Oh, this place is back in Solon so, further from the airport than the previous place but right off of a number of major highways.

Oh! and we now have the place from the wee early morning on Saturday until whenever we want on Sunday, no more time restrictions!

I plan on going in at 10am on Saturday and setting up what my local crew has put together, you guys are welcome to show up then or trickle in... ball is in your court. I think the "official" start time is back to 3 but if you want to come early we're going to set up and probably get lunch. Also if you come early I'll put you to work, so fair warning.

We aren't going to be surrounded by cubicles are we?

Fear not, good citizens!

Those with cubicle-phobia should know that we are harnessing them for good. The office itself really only has a single row of them with the backs open to the larger room. We'll be putting the TVs on them. Basically, they become perfect for discouraging screen-looking by the other team. The only other cubicles are going to be roped off and the stuff that we should not get into will be placed back there.

I can promise you that there shouldn't be any work flashbacks.

One more thing. We have internet! What does that mean? Amongst other things, people can feel free to participate in this!

We're already raising money for one charity, why not another? I don't think I'm going to try and put anything together for this officially but I can promise you bandwidth and a place to play Reach if you want to participate.

To counteract the cubicle effect we need tunes, booze and at least one cardboard standup. We may need to show up early to get drunk enough to steal one from Gamestop.

As long as someone brings a red stapler I think we'll be fine. Also, we should probably have Office Space playing somewhere all night...

All of these things can be arranged assuming we have the extra TV for it.

One more thing as I've gotten a few questions on it and I don't remember if I've given a straight answer:

How much money will I need to bring? Well, that's an excellent question. I'm hoping if you bring $20 cash and we all chip in for everything, we should be good for food and drinks. Beyond that, bring some money for child's play (tournaments and donations) and we should be good. I don't have amazing prizes for tournaments but I have a few little things that I can give away to tournament winners and such.

So the takeaway here is that if you don't plan on giving anything to CP and you want to buy or bring your own food and drinks, you need no money. I'm not charging a cover or anything. But we'll have some fun tournaments going to raise money and we'll probably make a food or beer run every few hours.

Ack, also, I should mention (I forgot to) that the keg from Great Lakes sadly will not happen. It was just too much money and trouble to go get it and then chilling it would have been kind of a problem. Plus if I got a keg that's basically the only variety of drink we would have on hand and, in retrospect, that wouldn't really fly.

So if you feel like bringing something specific to drink instead of chipping in for runs, go for it, we can label them if they aren't for general consumption. Otherwise, we'll have at least 3 coolers with ice and salt for quick chilling and 2 fridges we can load with stuff.

What's the group food situation going to be like?

More pizza places than I can count in the area, a delivery Chinese/ Vietnamese place and a bunch of stuff within a 2 mile radius.

There is also a Sam's Club and a BJ's about equidistant if we want snacks or drinks en masse.

With a bunch of stuff being so close i'm planning on playing the food issue more or less by ear. It saves me money up front and it allows for us to purchase specific items by request.

I am getting so excited. I plan on bringing my own cooler with some varieties of Liqour for myself and to share.

Also, I do have a crappy 20in (maybe?) flatscreen that is in our bedroom I could bring. It is not huge, but it u just wanted a small something extra for showing a movie or something...single player games people may want to play, i dunno. I can throw it in just in case?

Absolutely, that would be great. That can be our TV for the requested constant office space.
