Enslaved Catch-All

The shilling dissemination of information you may find interesting continues!

First up, a nice piece in the Telegraph.

Second, more pictars! They're over at Kotaku. Despite me attempting to save Kotaku's bandwidth(!) by rehosting them on ImageShack, they've been pulled.

Floomi...how do you not know what you're game looks like?

Wut?

Oh, I get it. Bullshots. Well, I have no idea who makes the screenshots, or how. So I don't know whether they've been shopped, or whether they've been captured from the engine at 4x resolution and then scaled down, or which platform they've captured them on.

I know I'm sounding evasive here, but I genuinely don't know whether they're bullshots or not. I know that on nice TVs, the game looks gorgeous. In a "woah, our game looks really nice way". Coming from someone who sees it five (sometimes six!) days a week.

I plan on picking this up, and I hadn't even heard of it until I started following this thread. I know a single buyer doesn't make any difference, but hopefully I speak for more people on this board.

Apparently marketing is kicking it up a gear and pulling out all the stops for:

GREENSCREEN MADNESS INTERVIEW

Well, OK, it's actually called "Building Story and Character", but whatever.

edit:\ oh god I've just been told by someone at work that it wasn't greenscreen at all! They actually went to some destroyed old house to film it...

It's okay, we understand you can't tell us. If you happen to use the word 'heliotrope' in your next post though the we will know the truth. :p

In all seriousness, looks great. Pity I've decided to upgrade my PC rather than buy a 360.

Fail!

Can't play Starcraft on a new 360, and the current one is giving me headaches. Literally.

On the topic of PC: if you want a PC release, go whine at Namco. Seriously. Their Facebook page is here and their Twitter is @EnslavedTheGame. If enough people make enough noise about it (to the extent that they think it's worth the cash), they might think harder about doing a PC release at some point.

Doubt it will help, but done.

Bunch more gameplay videos up. Note that there are minor spoilers here. Nothing too big, but if you want to go into the game virgin fresh, I'd advise watching the second one only:

The final one linked because it has dashes in it :(

Looks like they got some Jaffa in Enslaved.

Teal'c is cooler than Monkey.

Destructoid's impressions from the Gamescom demo are pretty nice. Nice reviews make Floomi happy

Also, Kotaku is a bit fixated on the penis. Figures.

More updates!

Videogamer has a preview from gamescom up, Destructoid gives us game of the show and has a short, gushy video interview.

Finally, you may have noticed that Namco has forked out the cash to advertise heavily on YouTube in the US today. That link also has some info on pre-order bonuses, which include a tshirt, a comic book, a super shiny home entertainment setup, plus some kinda statue thingy.

Reserve at GameStop and you'll get DLC codes for "Ninja Monkey" content with their game.

...any idea regarding what this DLC is?

Yes, sorry - there are three Day One DLC pre-order bonuses you get from ordering from specific retailers; more info on what they are here.

Note that you have to complete the game once before the pre-order bonuses are selectable, so no Female Doggoing about people paying extra to make the game easier

Well, that is a surprise... looks like I'm getting the soundtrack from my Amazon pre-order.

Oh, hey! The demo's up on PSN. And possibly Xbox, although I dunno about that.

Today is looking to be a very busy day for NT!

No kidding, what a surprise. You've been holding out on your friends!

Cool, I shall be checking it out then. I'm still not sold on this until there's a price drop, perhaps a demo will tip me over that edge.

It's not up on XBL yet. At least, a search for "enslaved" on the website turns up zero hits.

It's not on my PSN either. Is it a European only thing? If so, I'll just have to take comfort in the fact that I live in a country where my brave representatives defend my Constitutional right to remain uninsured and be crushed by medical debt, while you enjoy the demo and the Socialist Hell you've made for yourselves.

Odd, it's on mine. So possibly? I dunno.

Apparently MS's demo submission process is holding up the 360 version, but it's on its way "soon" according to Namco.

I played the demo and I really dug it. It's evident that Ninja Theory played Uncharted 2 lol

Not enough of a demo for me to be convinced one way or another but I did enjoy it. The camera did seem a little twitchy at times, but nothing major.

Apparently the demo is out on PSN in the US now. Still no word on the 360 demo.

The latest bombcast has Brad discussing his time spent with this so far for those that are interested.

So, Floomi - which one of the staff looks like the main character in Enslaved?

Tried the demo tonight:

Not having played Heavenly Sword, this is the first time I've played anything from NS.

Some of the graphics looked amazing, and I also really liked the sense of scale when you were outside the ship.

Combat/platforming seems a bit easy, but I'm assuming because it's right at the beginning of the game.

However.

The retailer exclusive DLC and day one DLC just announced precludes me from ever buying this unless an edition with *all* the DLC is included on the disc.

Sorry.

Don't worry - i have it pre-ordered from Amazon. I can't wait!

Played the demo. My only qualm: The more polished something is the easier it is to spot its blemishes. From my eye things looked great except for a few things. During the very beginning the steam from the sides of the walls didn't look so good. Also, the light effect from the slave headband looks really rough. Finally, and most important, the lip syncing/animation looks a quarter of a second off, or sometimes their lips barely moved. Kind of big deal for a story-driven single-player game.

The star of what I played was the pacing. The learning process and the build-up of great scripted sequences to a stunning do-or-die senario was spot on.

I hope you can turn off the glow of interactive objects.

But yeah, overall a very good demo.
