I hope this guy improves his texturing skills because I love the look of the pack. It's just the weird little glitches that are killing me.

From what I understand, these issues happen with all 512x texture packs and will continue to do so until Notch provides explicit support for them.

Yeah, the sun looks great, too.

Like I said, I'm not completely sold on the pack, but the games still in alpha. C'mon.

Tycho's write-up is pretty good, too.

He's well and truly gone; the Gabriel we knew is dead. He delved too deep and was remade in the hot veins of the Earth. I have heard him suggest that the game is crack, but it's more like all of the ingredients and equipment that you need to make crack, which I'd say is worse. It's like: give a man some crack, and he'll... but if you teach him to make crack, and then... There must be a saying that explains all this, surely.

Minecraft v1.2: 512x texture packs are now f***ing supported.

Like that?

Boooo!

I’ll add crouching, which will prevent you from walking over an edge, to make up for the late release. :D

Yeah!

O_O

Oh man. Notch is a saint. ...Saint Notch.

Pffff, crouching. Pfff.

Where's server-side health, dammit If it doesn't make it into tomorrow's update I will be a disappointed man indeed.

Are you talking about how people are immortal on the multiplayer server? That's actually a mod LM installed.

No it's not, if that was the case we'd be good to go for survival mode.

Except for the lack of working furnaces, water manipulation and sheep.

LobMob, Player health was broken a couple of updates ago.

So I was up past 1 AGAIN last night. I've found minecraft to have a very civ 4 "just one more turn..." effect. For me it's "just one more pick..." I can't think of a game since the early days of civ 4 that has kept me up as late as minecraft has.

On a in game related note, I've been working on a "temporary" multiple level base in a hillside and have a major problem with mob spawning on the top to the point where I can't get out with out pulling multiple creeper/spider/skeleton death trains. The cool part is that I am replacing the top layer of dirt with glass and excavating out about 10 square so it's a vaulted glass ceiling with a mob running around on it.

Also, I tried out the Painterly Pack. I like most of it, I might try a few alternate textures but I did have one block than I can't tell if it is clay or just borked. To me it appears to be a flat gray cube, hench the thoughts of clay, but I don't remember picking up that much clay. Anyone else notice this?

My mistake!

Normally clay breaks down like redstone, into 4 little piles you can pick up rather than a chunk or cube. Hard to say if that's what you're seeing since it could be a placeholder.

"Fired" stone (what happens when you smelt cobblestone) is a featureless gray block on my system, but I'm running the default textures. Having to pry every second of playtime out from between work/life obligations means I'm prioritizing towards actual play rather than tweaking stuff. Maybe I can give this a try this weekend.

I think I've been coddled by the gentle kindness of GWJ for too long; the minecraft forums are filled with vitriol and sarcasm (with a hint of /b/). I've kind of come to dread looking in there for answers because I always leave feeling slightly abused.

Yeah, you're stronger than me. I stick with the Wiki for the most part. Do you have the link to that?

Yes, but it's probably the bitter nerd-rage of the self-proclaimed unofficial forum "helper" who is sick of hearing the same extremely valid question over and over again, rather than the testosterone-fueled scream-rage of the frat-boy douchebag who believes the forums were created to answer to his whims to the exclusion of all others, and that all other problems come from a lack of skill and/or homosexual tendencies.

In other words, these jerks would help you if only you weren't so damned reasonable!

Bah, just spend an hour in the SC2 forums each week, and your hide will be a thick, iron-encrusted thing that mere Minecraft players can't even scratch.

Also, yay for crouching, since it will make bridge-building much faster and less annoying.

Oh wow, yeah. I hadn't even thought of that. Awesome!

That could be it, I'll have to check when I get home. I think the smelted cobblestone had the same texture as the standard stone but again I'll have to double check. I'll also have to test it for clay crafting abilities as well, thanks LobsterMobster.

No problem.

The Fort Zero save was released, for anyone who's been keeping track of that one.

It does. I'm not sure if it's any stronger or weaker, though.

Both kinds dig the same -- I think it's the same material. Looks better than cobblestone, so I try to use it whenever I have to stare at something for any length of time.

I'm still trying to decide if I want to pull the trigger on this or not. I hear single player is supposed to be a blast, but what does the multiplayer look like?

The same, but other people get to make stuff too. There's no survival mode in MP yet, but it's coming, so it's all about creation in MP land right now.

Dude, just buy it. The game is boss.

... Done. Enabler.

EDIT: Is there a Goodjer server out there someplace?

Enter liquidmantis.com when they ask for the server IP address. Post in the multiplayer thread to have Liquidmantis enable your GWJ rights.

He learned that trick from a creeper in a tree. Always watching.
