Official Gamers with Jobs Slap & Tickle Heard 'Round the World! October 23rd

Pages

Hey Gamers with Jobs. How are you? How's your mother?

Maybe you've noticed something. Fellow GWJ and super, awesome thread contributor Amoebic sure did. And she has an idea that I would like to formalize.

There are a lot of folks getting together from the site on Saturday October 23rd. Some are meeting in Ohio, some in Vancouver, and some in the SF Bay Area.

What are YOU doing that weekend? What are you doing on the 23rd of October 2010? Do you have a home? Would you like to invite others over to share in some shenanigans? Maybe you know of a local bar that could stand a Goodjer invasion.

I would like to formally invite ALL Gamers with Jobs across the world to participate in this challenge: Participate in a GWJ get together on October 23rd. Let's make October 23rd International Goodjer Day!

Maybe you can host? Maybe you can coordinate? Maybe you can participate in a Slap & Tickle near you?

Let's see how many folks we can get from all over to throw a little shindig (as small as two forumites count!).

Maybe we can all participate in a video conference at some point? Or perhaps throw together an epic video of the events of the day/night involving our fellows, and then we can combine all of the video into some crazy, GWJ-focused New Years At Times Square kind of thing. Hell, I'd even volunteer to solicit and edit the movie together.

What say you? Are you up for the challenge?

UPDATE: Here are some guidelines for running your own S&T on International Goodjer Day:
Rule the First: If you have a GWJ shirt - wear it
Rule the Second: Save a seat at the table for BNPederson as the honorary GWJ attendee. (Seriously, this dude has been to more S&Ts all over the world than the conf call folks). Rabbit suggests placing a tophat tastefully in his chair.
Rule the Third: During your local S&T, call the voicemail line and leave a message detailing the debauchery occurring at your event.
Rule the Fourth: make #GWJ trend on twitter. Whether you participate in the Slap & Tickle Heard 'Round the World or not, help make IGD official by tweeting like a storm and don't forget to include the GWJ hashtag!

UPDATE 9/28: Stand up gent TENEMAN suggested coupling this event with some sort of fundraiser for Child's Play. THE DETAILS ARE BELOW:

Here's the official thread, but thanks to trueheart78 and oilypenguin, you can now purchase the incredible image above (lovingly crafted by Mr. 7inchsplit himself) with proceeds benefiting Child's Play.

For the low, low price of $15 US, you can own your very own Unofficial GWJ Poster commemorating the International Goodjer Day Slap & Tickle Heard 'Round the World! And don't forget, the proceeds go straight to Child's Play! What are you waiting for? Buy three today!

This is the greatest idea since the invention of coffee.

I had thought there were a chance that I could go to Oily's - but that doesn't look possible now.

However - I would be interested in getting together with people in the Kansas City/Midwest area, potentially hosting at my house. Any interest there?

Sure, sounds like fun. Anyone want to represent Goodjerville up in Western New York? Let's crash Millennium and say we're the police.

Tagged, if someone does something closer to New York City

International Goodjer Day! We need a greeting card! Maybe one of those irritating sound ones, but when you open it all it says is "Female Doggoes..."

I was think it would cycle through some of the phrases, first "Whaddup", then something about being "the Bomb"...

What, all our Chicago S&Ts don't count for Midwest?

Kansas City/Midwest. Something within 2 hours of Kansas City is about all I can do for that weekend. Chicago is closer to 6.5. But I would host (with wife approval, which would mainly be based on head count) if there were KC interest.

A very interesting idea, HedgeWizard. We'll have to see if the Ottawa Goodjers can represent.

We already have one scheduled for 10/17.

I guess we're just ahead of the game here in RTP.

FTFNCD.

I heartily concur with this. But sadly I'm working that Saturday, so unless some folks want to stop in Dayton for lunch...

I'm not going to take all the credit for this idea because Edwin was in on it, too. We came up with it over a game of Guinness and Citadels!

*high five, Edwin!*

I could do Western New York, of course, although a part of me wants to take a trek down to Oily's.

Do both. West New York Slap and Tickle Ride Share to Oily's.

Closest I am to anywhere likely to have one would be Ottawa. If you crazy Canadians decide to do it, I'll get a bus ticket or something.

So if we had a Winnipeg one that would be, what? 5 of us?

This sounds like an awesome idea.

October 23rd was one of the days we were considering for out Slap and Tickle, but we ended up choosing the long weekend of the 9th! Slap and Tickle in CT! Woot!

This thing needs a tagline! I submit: "Goodj Your Pants October 23rd"

I'll officially cast my attendance in. That makes 2 of us, and I'm sure there will be more - after all, Ottawa Goodjers have our own super secret mailing list. We're still working on a Stan-shaped bat-signal, though.

I'd come, too...

This gives me some ideas... we should put together some "official" GWJ Host Your Own S&T materials to include for the International Day of Goodje. Stan-shaped-bat signals included. Maybe folks could mark their house with Stan and thus Goodjers in secret could meet for this (I am sure to be) annual conclave.

That's just wrong! But I like it!

I heard a rumor that he can appear in multiple places, Doc Manhatten style. I guess we'll finally find out!

Here are some of my ideas for ways to participate, and rules for the International Day of Goodje - Stanners Unite!

1. Get pics of the conf call (or Stan)
2. Print them out
3. Cut out the eyes, nose and mouth.
4. Wear them as a mask.

Three things:

1.) This will be awesome.

2.) Amoebic and HedgeWizard are friggin' geniuses.

3.) The Conference Call folks simply have to do a live podcast that day.

I actually believe there needs to be a skype connection between parties.

One more:

4.) *Legion* needs to get to HedgeCon.

I'm so thrilled that, if I get to go, I'll be bringing my webcam and laptop JUST IN CASE!

Damn, why must I be stuck in crappy Nebraska with no money?! Such a great idea. I shall live vicariously through all of you, so you have to have a lot of fun. I demand it!

If there is going to be any in Chicago I might just have to find a way to make the 6 hour trip. Or if there happens to be one much closer in Wisconsin somewhere.
