I will be there as an Internet ghost!
OooOoOOOoooh!
So I GOT THE JOB! Start on Wednesday! So, more importantly, It's looking like I'll be able to make it. It's a 10hr drive so I'm trying to figure if I should come up Friday, stay till Sunday morn and drive back Sunday. My wife is also looking into flights to Cleveland, since I'd probably be making the trip alone. What I might do is crash at a hotel Friday night, come over Saturday, crash on the floor (or hotel cause I snore like a freight train making love to an elephant) and burn out Sunday morning. I can also bring an elite xbox, 4 controllers and a 32" flat screen Teevee. I guess I could lug my comp too, if necessary.
Right now the only thing that would keep me from coming is a) crazy family issues or b) the new gig, since I might have to work on Saturday, though I'm doing the work remotely anyway so It might work out. Still havent gotten my full schedule yet.
Since Im one of like 3 goodjers in MO and the only one (that I've seen) from St.L, I'll bring stuff that the Dirty Lou is known for; toasted ravioli, st. paul sammiches, STDs and murder. Uh...on second thought, maybe I'll just bring me.
Congrats to you, sir, that's great news! I was just about to respond that I too am jobless and would find it hard to justify this gathering to the misses, but just caught this post. I'm probably 25-30 minutes away from Oily (right near the airport) and it would be inexcusable for me to miss this. I may have a camping thing happening, but will have to wait and see. Given my current track record, I'll probably miss this and completely regret not making it, when I see all the pics.
Oily, that's one damn funny post. I hope I can make it and that you have a badass b-day.
And 13th, if you come out that will pretty much be the most ridiculous thing ever. Go for it. Is there anything more vacation friendly than Cleveland at the end of October?
(yes. most of the leaves will be gone by then and it will be raining all the time)
Thing is, by early October I will have finished my LSAT, and what better way to treat oneself than visiting beautiful Cleveland near the end of October? It's still just at purple, though. If and when the level reaches moss green, I'll tell ya.
Muahahaha. I think I might go just for that.
That was a joke. I think I might go so I can also check out Case Western. Heard good things about that school.
Well, it's looking like a 90% chance I'll be able to come after all. Made a deal with the Mrs. so barring some unforseen calamity, I should be in.
In case you guys are still on the fence or don't intend to buy Reach, Best Buy is giving you $30 in gift certificates with it if you get it from them and are in the gamer's club for reward zone. I actually canceled my amazon order to get it from BB.
Their site lists it as a $20.
Oh, just found this thread. Unless something comes up, you can count me in as being there. Not sure about Reach, but I can definitely show up with my fight stick.
For those passing through C'bus, we could car pool from my place if that works for anyone.
But, my magic stick...
Wife has approved the venture. Hoping to hear the same from AnimeJ and Phish...
That's easily four hours from me, but I shall discuss with Mrs. Phish. My desire to participate in an Ohio S&T with more than three Goodjers may outweigh the drive.
Well, I'm just north of Cincy, and that's the weekend right before my birthday (Oct 26th), so I'm thinking maybe we can carpool as I'm expecting to be allowed to do this*.
* wife permission has yet to be granted, and as such, all thoughts and desires are purely speculation and simply for show.
Update: WIFE APPROVED
Okay, I'm 2 hours away in Southeast Michigan. I'm going to a concert the night before and may be a little rough around the edges, but if that doesn't stop me (and nothing else major comes up) I could be there. I don't really trust my truck to drive 144 miles, but what the hell. Better a misadventure than a missed adventure.
I can bring many things. Beatles Rock Band. Extra mics (I have 3), extra guitar, hard drive with over 400 DLC songs on it? Whatever would help the night.

Interested in carpooling? I could pick you up.
I think I will have, at most, 3 copies of Reach between the people confirmed so far. So if you guys have copies, bring them (My local blockbuster went out of business so renting will be a bear).
Not sure if you had a BlockBuster in Solon that went out of business or if you mean the Macedonia one, which I used to use a lot. There are still two in Stow though, the one on 91 and Graham is probably closer to you. Last I saw those were both still in business. I'm not sure if I'm picking Reach up or not yet, I may just borrow my buddy's when he's done with it. If I do buy it I'm sure I can get it to you even if I can't come for the party that weekend though.
Oh, and you'd mentioned you were looking at a keg from Great Lakes earlier. I don't know if you were targeting their Oktoberfest (and really, why wouldn't you, it's their best beer of the year!) but if you are their supply is going fast. My buddy just reserved two kegs of it for his Oktoberfest party, and was told by his supplier that they don't have as much this year as they have in the past. I haven't even been able to find any of it in bottles, which is a real bummer.
I know AnimeJ and I don't drink, but I'll definitely bring some cash for food. May want to have a recommended amount in your 10-1 update. As for crashing, I think that will be a carpool decision on our end - we'll definitely let you know.

I have wife approval, however I'm working that Saturday. Have some extra fun for me.

My sadness can not be quantified
Yea, I would absolutely love to be there, it will beat the pants off of sitting around for 12 hours staring at a trio of monitors trying to find things to make time go faster.

No option to "work from home"? Or remote in?
Man, I would love to come to this, as I have never been to a "slap and tickle" before, and I'm not too far away (living in Pittsburgh). But alas, I am also jobless right now, and can't justify the expense right now. Not to mention, by birthday is on the 23rd, so I would probably anger some people if I left for most of the weekend.
If something changes, I'll be sure to let you know. I have extra rock band equipment for the 360 that I would be willing to bring, plus a small selection of board games. Damn it, I really want to come now..............

It's a watch billet, must be manned in person. There's an outside chance we could get a work from home option here in the future(90% of what we do can be handled via BB), but even then I'd be on 30 minute standby, ie must be at work within 30 minutes of notification.

Or find a new job? You've got time for the interview process, this isn't for another 6 weeks =)
Which brings me to this: I'm on contract for the next couple of years. I work for Uncle Sam in a very direct and measurable way, and rather enjoy it
