Moving to San Francisco / S&T?

Zeitgeist in the Mission is a pretty fun place. For S&T potential there's a huge outdoor area in back with tables. Pretty close to being a dive bar, but all good bars are.

There is also Barclays for a dive bar that brews their own beer. They are on college near zach's and barney's and rockridge bart.

And welcome!

Thanks! Yes, I'll have to check that out. I'm currently overwhelmed by the number of ways I can increase my alcoholism.

Also: The Sun! Where the f*ck did this come from? We don't have an orange ball of heat and light in Seattle. I'm surprised I haven't burst into flames yet.

Seems like we'll just need to have many slaps and ticklements. I'm all for it!

Re: The Sun! I think we're all thinking the same thing, given how cloudy it's been all summer.

Excited for tonight!

Move out to the Sunset or Richmond districts, you'll feel right at home.

Demi... who told you you could have a cartoon avatar AND a cartoon "hat"?!

Is it still at Thirsty Bear? I don't want to go there and end being by myself. I might end up going home with the first girl who responds well to my sh*tty jokes.

Perhaps he should wear the hat so we can spot him better. Or dance around someone trying to sign; that'll help too.

Thirsty Bear at 6.

2 measily hours away. 1 measily hour away from the weekend!

Rabbit, you told him about the Berkeley Bowl right? He is going to need to stock up on all those locally grown organic vegetables working off all those alcohol calories!

PICTURES. Notice the plural. I don't want just one picture of everyone posing awkwardly and one guy with his eyes half open from far away with a flash. I demand debauchery and satisfaction.

You're a hard woman to please.

That's what she said? No, I don't think that works here. Damn.

I'm easy if you know which buttons to hit.

Spoiler:

I recommend the one located on the top right side of the camera.

Cory just posted on Twitter that he and Rabbit are already over there at Thirsty Bear. I was planning on hitting Mars first for a pre-S&T drink, but I think I'll just mosey on over there instead. See you guys soon!

sh*t, off I go!

Headed out a bit late but I'm not far (501 2nd St.), keep an eye peeled for the nerdy dude in a brown hipster hat.

I'm posting this from my phone. Everyone seems to be here. Where are you?

Had a great time tonight! Thanks again, everyone!

Great time for me too! It was good to see everyone again and meet Demi and the other gwjers I've not met before.

Hopefully there will be lots more S n T's to come!

We're going to try for a GWJ board game night every now and then. I nominate HedgeWizard or someone up in the East Bay to host. I would be happy to, but I live in San Jose.

Good to see you all tonight!

I will honestly say, this is like my dozenth S&T, and the first that ended up with whisky shots in an Irish bar cheering "Cory! Cory!"

Boy, sounds like I left too early! Did you guys get the 20$ I left on the table?

Awesome time tonight all! Thanks for the shots Rabbit and HedgeWizard. Pics forthcoming.

1. Welcome Cory!

2. That was a fun time; thanks to all who came out!

3. Wish I had taken the train, as I had to sit around for a long while afterwards, consuming food and water before I could drive home.

4. 1 or 2 day hedgeCon maybe 3rd week of Oct?

5. Pics tomorrow.

Things I learned thanks to this S&T:

* I'm terrible at following directions. On the way down, I totally blew past the turn I was supposed to make on Geary and kept going down Lombard through the crooked section past the tourists until I got back on course. The upside is that I've never driven down that part of Lombard by myself. Then, on my way home, I missed the correct turn off of 3rd/Kearny, but somehow thanks to my homing pigeon-like instincts got to the Golden Gate. Oh well; at least I'll kick ass when Driver: San Francisco eventually drops. I'd've gone apesh*t the second time around if not for the booze generously provided by HedgeWizard and rabbit.

* MightyMooquack's neighborhood's been through some rough sh*t. Explanation.

* I should really be careful about what I post around here. A few folks pestered me about "pizza girl." I think I'll blame boogle and/or *Legion* about that one. Or the people who read these forums a tad too closely *cough*ThatGuy*cough*

* Speaking of which, I should have brought down some stogies for us to enjoy. It was a pretty warm night in SF, ripe for taking a break outside and smoking. Don't worry ThatGuy, your secret is safe with me.

* Even after knowing him for ten years Certis thinks I'm some imaginary person. I was right there when you sent that text, dude.

* I didn't realize my collection of original Star Wars action figures, my R2-D2 Pepsi cooler, Star Wars and Star Trek Micro Machines, and Star Trek ships from the Art Asylum could inspire jealousy. Maybe I should have mentioned I bought prop replicas of the original Star Trek phaser, communicator, and tricoder or that I still have the Death Star thing that came free with Star Wars: Empire at War. Remind me at the next local S&T to tell you my George Lucas stories.

* For those curious, here's that thing about *Legion* I was talking about.

* HedgeWizard is the de facto ruler of Goodjers in the Bay Area. He's the Goodjer we all aspire to be. ThatGuy comes in at a very, very close second, mainly because of his inhuman ability to consume booze while the sun is still up.

* Again, Certis thinks I'm some illusion. At least Elysium as far as I know thinks I'm real, dammit!

* By the way, the people who were taking over Thirsty Bear while we were there were in fact alumni and fans for the University of Colorado because their team is playing Cal tomorrow in football. Yes, football, Demiurge. Four downs to get to the endzone and that thing.

* Hold on a second. I was dressed up like Chris Pine as Captain Kirk in the bar scene in the new Star Trek movie and no one (not even me) noticed?

* With Demiurge now local, we need to do more of this stuff. I'm watching my parents' big house sometime in October. Wine chiller, hot tub, multiple big screen TVs ripe for plugging in XBoxs and Wiis. It could be a Goodjer paradise.

* Funniest moment of the night. When we were heading off to the second bar several blocks away, rabbit was leading the pack talking on his iPhone, Demiurge was on his iPhone at the rear, and the majority of us assumed that they were talking to each other.

* Again, thanks to everyone who showed up. We might not have the numbers that GWJ had at PAX, but it was still awesome. On behalf of local Goodjers, I once again welcome Demiurge into our ranks.

Great time! I left before the Irish bar, but hell you cant have it all...all the time. I was happy to meet everybody and to know that there is a great group of guys out here ready to drop everything for some beer. Haha.

Anyhow name the place and time you know I will be there.

Oh, I would welcome Cory to SF, but its not really my town. So welcome to California!

Damn, I'm sorry we missed it. Hopefully we can make it over to SF soon. Unfortunately LoveParade (warning: sound) has been cancelled this year. It's gotten so crowded. I remember the first year there were only a handful of us.

There's always Santarchy though. You won't want to miss it, Demi, trust me.

Heh, next time we should give our $300 to the Chieftain over the Thirsty Bear. (we got semi-kicked out) We could actually hear ourselves think and the booze was of much higher quality. (no paella however)

And while I do generally root for Cal anyways, I hope they kick the sh*t out of those obnoxious Colorado douches, 52 to -9.

Hmm, I might be a little too hung over grumpy this morning =P

edit: Alice's Now and Zen is free this year. Its going to be a complete zoo in Golden Gate Park

Sorry I missed it. Hopefully next time.

HedgeWizard is the mayor of SF GoodjerVille by virtue of volunteering to organize a fee hundred dollars of tab for 16 people. That makes him a god in my book. Says a lot about this community that so many folks tossed in extra cash "just in case.". I assume Hedge worked it all out (grin).

Thanks to either the shot of Jamison rabbit bought or the Guiness HedgeWizard did, I for the life of me can't remember the route I took to get out of the city last night. Or maybe it was the two shots of Gentlemen Jack I had when I got back. Either way, I have one hell of an autopilot.

I'm so bummed I missed this opportunity to meet up you guys. Fkin' raid nights.

Next time.

I'll be the guy with the whiskey and an "up to no good" sneer (you know the look-- one eye half mast, one eye wide open. Knowing grin).
