I made a few more more warp points, more coming from me soon.

s_road_1
s_road_2
s_road_3
s_road_ end
redstone_road
ne_peninsula

I have marked them on this map combined with a map mentioned previously in this thread.

All my points so far have an obsidian base with torches at the corners. I set the warp point to be one block above the surface of the obsidian.

huzzah!

Now I just need to spend enough time in MP to actually accomplish something. I've been far too absorbed in building my SP base. It's almost done, but I needed to go spelunking to find a few more resources, and I found by far the biggest cave I've ever seen! I've more than doubled my diamond deposits, have pulled 8 stacks of redstone, almost a stack of gold, and more stacks of coal and iron than I can count....and that's just the first of three or four major branches that happened at the top of the loop. I thought I'd found big caves before — I was wrong.

Anyway, that's SP news, just posting here to bookmark the thread.

Poor cake has no warp.

I've been watching some videos on redstone logic circuits. This could be very, very dangerous and time-consuming.

Sincerely,
A Computer Engineer

I'm still waiting for the redstone to do something useful. Also it doesn't work very well (if at all) in multiplayer.

People made cannons in the last map I think with it.

Nothing like a 20 minute climb/walk to the current most southern part of the map.

I actually tried to put a warp there, I was 3/4 there and my client crashed.

I think the server knows whats best, and that there's no real point for any being to be out that far in the map.

Anyways I'm sad the server went kaput as I was reworking my water slide. Currently try to create smoother turns that don't result in people suffering mild head concussions or destroying cheap timber along the rapids.

Hmmm

Redstone can be used to set off large quantities of explosives from a safe distance.

Also, I'm having trouble getting into Liquidmantis.com I got disconnected and can't reconnect.

Anyone else find it suspicious that Kraint posts about logic circuits and suddenly the server is rebelling against him, specifically? Dammit, Kraint, why do things ALWAYS end in an AI revolution with you?

Yeah, just what this server needs: more TNT. Ask par what he just exploded.

I caved and bought the game tonight. Hopped onto the server (Turrash btw, not Dethroned). The first thing I did was to destroy a pane of glass in the underwater tunnel. Luckily enough it didn't flood and I was able to replace the piece I destroyed.

I'm now checking out tutorials on youtube and playing the single player so I don't ruin anything

Come on, there were at least two times that didn't happen!

Besides, I haven't been able to stay logged in for more than about 5 minutes at a time. Not nearly enough time to get the latest self-modifying system in place, especially with the lack of wireless.

Mantis, is there anything I'm doing wrong that is causing my DC issues?

FedoraMcQuaid wrote:

O.K. so Mantis made me a sort of Official Mapmaker cartographer thingy which means I can set warp points. I've been going around setting them up at various locations. I'm mainly focusing on centered areas of interest and checkpoints. For example if there is an area with a bunch of cool stuff (like the area around Fort Cracker) I'll put a warp point at a location where you can see much of it (like the top of Fort Cracker). I wont be putting one in everybody's little abodes but many of them will be reachable from the checkpoints. If you have a request for a warp point, ask me and I'll try to go set it up, try to make it a fairly good area of interest and mark specifically where you want it.

tanstaafl, if you want to go down your road and set up some checkpoint markers for me, I'd be happy to set up some warps on it. Same goes for whoever made the long Northern road going from Spawn to Kirby Land

Current list of warp names and locations:
parway_1 -first exit on the parway
parway_2 -second exit on the parway
parway_north -north offshoot from the papway
parway_3 -third exit on the parway (leads to a skybridge, a mountain home, and the helechopper landing)
parway_4 -fourth exit on the parway
parway_5 -fifth exit on the parway
parway_6 -sixth exit on the parway (leads to Rebel's Guiding Light)
parway_7 -seventh (and currently last) exit on the parway
arovin's_ark -Arovin's ship out on the water
wall_of_flame -Aries' wall (also near berzerk's dock/lighthouse and Pharacon's pad)
no_diving -the skybridge right over the pool (also near Link, Mario, the Eye, and the grand road of southness)
fort_cracker -the snow covered castle on the mountain (Overlooks Chiggie's stuff, Bewbie castle, Far from Home Kirby, and Quintin's dome)
kirby_land -the entrance to Kirby Land via the Northern roads
kirby_overlook -the watchtower overlooking Mount Kirby

Edit: and here's a map with the warp points marked

Hey, where's my vanity statue teleport point?

The answer is everything.

This game is strange and unusual.

O.K. I made it out to the cake area and marked it (/warp cake). Took about 15 minutes of straight travel (a bit of boat and a lot of walking) and that was after warping to the end of the south road.

And Chiggie, you can see you from Fort Cracker.

Current warp list:
parway_1
parway_2
parway_north
parway_3
parway_4
parway_5
parway_6
parway_7
arovin's_ark
wall_of_flame
no_diving
fort_cracker
kirby_land
kirby_overlook
s_road_1
s_road_2
s_road_3
s_road_ end
redstone_road
ne_peninsula
cake

In honor of a pretty damn funny practical joke, Chiggie will remain as is for at least another day. Very clever concept, whoever pulled that off.

I don't see how. Try the other server at honshu dot lesscomputing dot com to see if you have the same problems on it.

Well, par, I hope this is the kind of thing you had in mind. Mostly because the frame is practically indestructible.

I started with this. These are the actual pixel sizes from the game. I just superimposed them and simplified the color scheme.

IMAGE(http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f182/sfailey/Minecraft/minesymboltemplate.jpg)

And I ended up with this. It looks like a 1/1 ratio of pixels to blocks, but it's actually not. Every "pixel" is a 2x2 square. So, you know, it's huge. To be more precise, if you use the little scales I built into the original bmp, it looks like it's about 45 blocks tall and 50 wide.

IMAGE(http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f182/sfailey/Minecraft/minesymbolday.jpg)

From the parway close.

IMAGE(http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f182/sfailey/Minecraft/minesymbolday2.jpg)

From the parway further out.

IMAGE(http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f182/sfailey/Minecraft/minesymbolday3.jpg)

From just off the end of the parway.

IMAGE(http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f182/sfailey/Minecraft/minesymbolday4.jpg)

And at night. Those torches aren't supposed to be pretty. Those are the ones I used to build the damn thing when the sun went down.

IMAGE(http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f182/sfailey/Minecraft/minesymbolnight.jpg)

So, hope you're happy with it, buddy. And, like I said, if you're not, good luck taking the thing down.

Oh, and in case someone doesn't get to see this before I fix it.

Classic stuff, guys. This was rebel's doing, he claims.

Thought that thing was a giant eye monster or something, till I looked closer.

Hey, if it is good enough for the Ghouls 'n Ghosts knight...

By the way, I have mastered the secrets of flight. And with one easy step you can as well! Extract it to the .minecraft directory (C:\Users\[User]\AppData\Roaming\.minecraft for Vista) and run flyer.jar. It will start up Minecraft with a flight module. There are 3 modes, Hover where you float at the same height and use C and E to go up/down, Jetpack where holding Z increases altitude, and Flight Sim where you have constant forward thrust.

Use at your own risk. But it could be helpful as long as we are doing purely creative stuff. Remember though, don't use it to explore the world as much as possible, because that will bring down the sever sooner or later.

Sorry FedoraMcQuaid, didn't see your request for warp points on the Great Southern Road and thanks Xuis for stepping up and making a few. I barely got on the server yesterday anyway.

(And can anyone set warp points? How are people setting them? Just building platforms then telling you where they are?)

There is some interesting geography along the road. Under the Road near the Great Tower there's a cave system (the entrance to the tower is actually in the cave). Some steps lead down towards the cave from the road. And there's a very extensive cave system further south; a couple of entrances are marked with torches.

I dunno how much time I'll be on this week and I'll be at Dragon*Con for a chunk of the weekend. My current project is the circular keep to the north but I'm not sure what I'm going to be doing with it.

Awesome work Chiggie! That looks great! And its not so much what "I had in mind"... I wanted you guys to do whatever you wanted
