Bioshock Infinite Catch-All

8 minutes!

Let's try and come up with the worst possible announcement.

I'll start with Call of Duty 12: Shock and Awe - Marines infiltrate Rapture which has been taken over by terrorists. Will liberty prevail?

Ken Levine's PuzzleShock. An underwater Bejeweled adventure in the magical world of Rapture.

Teasershock. A game in which you make nerds froth at the mouth and seethe in anticipation until they die of tachycardia.

Oh it's here.

Good bait and switch at the start, now I have to wait for the rest of the vid to buffer.

Holy crap! Jeff Cannata guessed it exactly on the last weekend confirmed!

Looks like the server is getting hammered. Instead of waiting for the trailer to work, you can download it here. (Right click, save as.)

I am so excited for this trailer, do we have to use spoiler tags? Or can we just start gushing?

Announcement was a little disappointing

Spoiler:

as I wish they were working on something new.

That said, I look forward to seeing some gameplay.

For those of us still waiting for the video to load, can anyone provide the answer in spoiler tags?

I'm 100% with you.

The suspense is killing me! The movie keeps getting dropped. Cool that 486 server with ice!

Here's a link to download it if you can't get it to stream

I'm about ready to f*cking break something. Have had the worst day at work. Looking forward to this all day. Now it won't buffer. And the zip file won't open for me. I came close to destroying my mouse a second ago.

Spoiler:

Imagine a thing you've seen, then imagine it somewhat differently. That about sums it up.

Ken Levine[/url]]On Thursday, August 12th, at 1:45 Eastern Daylight Time, we will launch the trailer for our new game at Whatisicarus.com. Our hope is that you all will see it PRIOR to reading any news in the press (which will start to come out around 15 minutes later).

Yeah, that would be great, if your stupid video would buffer!

If you reload the main Icarus site, you'll now get a splash screen with screenshots and such.

Spoiler:

It's Bioshock except now Rapture is a big city in the sky.

When I gave up on the trailer and skipped through to the site, I almost felt like it was a joke. I'm disappointed, but I'm sure it'll be good.

EDIT: Also, the name is stupid. Nyah!

I'm sure the trailer will be hitting other places here any minute. Press are allowed to talk about it as of now, so ...

Really? That's a bit disappointing. I was hoping for something, you know,

Spoiler:

new

.

Spoiler:

Bioshock Infinite, which shall be referred to as Bioshock 3 by many, i'm sure. I have faith Irrational will do something cool, but i was a little burned out with Bioshock 2.

Reading the 1up preview has me more excited already. Bring it on.

Spoiler:

Skyoshock

Spoiler:

I don't care whut all youz haters say. STEAMPUNK BIOSHOCK ZOMGWTFBBQ.

While I was at GenCon, I noticed all the steampunk stuff and thought to myself, "Oh, so this is a thing now? You know who'd be good with this? Ken Levine."

Psychic Kat, now taking your calls. And your money.

I took some screens from the trailer. The art direction looks phenomenal.

Edit: I'll post them later. Don't want to spoil it for people.

2012? BOOOOOO.

So it's Bioshock in the sky, with racing planes?

Synopsis

BioShock Infinite is a first-person shooter currently in development at Irrational Games, the studio behind the original BioShock (which sold over 4 million units worldwide). Set in 1912, BioShock Infinite introduces an entirely new narrative and gameplay experience that lifts players out of the familiar confines of Rapture and rockets them to Columbia, an immense city in the sky.

Former Pinkerton agent Booker DeWitt has been sent to rescue Elizabeth, a young woman imprisoned in Columbia since childhood. Booker develops a relationship with Elizabeth, augmenting his abilities with hers so the pair may escape from a city that is literally falling from the sky. DeWitt must learn to fight foes in high-speed Sky-Line battles, engage in combat both indoors and amongst the clouds, and harness the power of dozens of new weapons and abilities.

As much as I trust Irrational's record, how interesting this is for me depends on whether it's not just a copy & paste, with a bit of renaming. I'm assuming all the *shock mechanics are there, but I really hope the plot isn't the same formula. I guess this is partly making full use of the Bioshock brand while it lasts.

While this is a bit disappointing to me as well, I am kinda excited about BioShock in the sky - I feel like a lot of animes went for this but I never liked them because of the horrible art design I didn't like BioShock that much, but I am strangely excited about this new one.

They shouldn't announce games that are more than a year away, though. That's just stupid.
