The Pile Waits for No School

Pages

Welcome to another month and another Pile of Shame thread! The summer is drawing to a close, and for those of you still in school, you may be losing some significant gaming time. For those of you who are finished with school (like me), summer doesn't mean anything other than it's pretty freaking hot during the day and business casual clothes are still not as comfortable as shorts.

A quick reminder, in order to be considered "Pile of Shame" the game needs to be at least three months old. Otherwise, it's just a new game you haven't gotten to playing yet.

Let's get on to the games!

This Month's Pick of the Pile is

[size=30]Metro 2033[b]

"Set in the shattered subway of a post apocalyptic Moscow, Metro 2033 is a story of intensive underground survival where the fate of mankind rests in your hands.

In 2013 the world was devastated by an apocalyptic event, annihilating almost all mankind and turning the earth’s surface into a poisonous wasteland. A handful of survivors took refuge in the depths of the Moscow underground, and human civilization entered a new Dark Age.

The year is 2033. An entire generation has been born and raised underground, and their besieged Metro Station-Cities struggle for survival, with each other, and the mutant horrors that await outside.

You are Artyom, born in the last days before the fire, but raised Underground. Having never ventured beyond your Metro Station-City limits, one fateful event sparks a desperate mission to the heart of the Metro system, to warn the remnants of mankind of a terrible impending threat. Your journey takes you from the forgotten catacombs beneath the subway to the desolate wastelands above, where your actions will determine the fate of mankind." (Metro2033.com)

I went lazy this month and wiped the slate clean on games. If you want to carry something over from last month, please post it in here.

I'm going to go with Ghostbusters this month. Hopefully, I can fit that in between Starcraft 2.

Edit - I will probably add another later on, but I don't want to jinx myself.

Carry over The Dig for me. Thanks.

There's a patch coming for the 360 version in the Fall (September?) to address the two glitched achievements, just so you know. It was a suprise announcement that they were finally going to patch these two, which had been broken since release. Most folks had given up on Atari re: this title.

Ghostbusters getting achievement patch in the Fall

EDIT: I've been looking forward to this one too. Not sure if I will hold off and wait for the patch or not. I think the gltiched achievements are MP only, but its worth a confirmation.

I am going to roll over Bully SE on the 360, and add Metro 2033.

Please put me down for Forza Motorsport 3 (360)--I'm assuming that the single player comes to a close at some point.

I'd like to finish Brutal Legend on the 360 this month.

I'm going to be continuing the death march that is 100% Just Cause 2, when I can find time between work, Starcraft 2 and Bad Company 2.

Carrying over Dragon Age; I lost my momentum last month, but I think I just want it to be over with

*sigh*

Carrying over Persona 3: FES and God of War 2... let's see if I actually put them down into the ground this month.

OK, time to give Etrian Odyssey another whirl. Need something different after blasting my way through Starcraft 2. Plus I've got, like a million podcasts to catch up on and it's the perfect accompanyment for that.

I plan on finishing Sam & Max Season 2 this month. I'm either on "Chariots of the Dogs" or "What's New Beelzebub?" but I forget. Then maybe I'll try to play more Red Faction: Guerrilla, but that's more of a "between-games" kind of game at the moment.

Carry over Overlord: Raising Hell for me thanks!

How am I supposed to know what to pick if Hemi doesn't tell me?!?!

Carrying over Dawn of War 2 from July. I'm starting to get comfortable with the controls. Plus the whole loot lust thing keeps drawing me back.

Half-Life 2, finish it for me.

Not really. You stop getting achievements after Season 7 though.

It's been a while and I am ready for the pile! Put me down for Tales of Vesperia. I'm almost done with it. For realz this time.

I'm almost done FF7. Carry it on....I'm so close!

Carry over Dead Space for PC and Shadow of the Colossus for me, please.

Although I started in July, just finished Overlord.

Going to play Pixel Junk Shooter and Final Fantasy 13, both on PS3. As for the start of this month, I've finished 14 games from my backlog during 2010. Only...way too many to go.

(insert Rob Schneider voice here) YOU CAN DO IT!

Seriously, though, I'm looking forward to reading what your take is on the ending - and the game as a whole - this far removed from its release.

WHAT?! That's just lame. I finished HL2 years ago. YOU ARE A SHAMEFUL HERMAPHRODITE!

I'm going to carry over Gears of War 1, Xmen - The Official Game and I'm going to add Sega Superstar Tennis (don't judge me). All on the 360.

I twigged a single achievement on that one AGES ago, and now I must kill it and it's SEGA sugary goodness. Didn't help that I saw it on a TA boosting session too, so now it's sunk it's hooks in well and truely.

Well - I did manage to finally put Alan Wake to rest last night. And now for this month: Red Dead Redemption*

Spoiler:

This isn't it any way, shape, or form realistic as it will probably take me close to 6 months to accrue the gaming hours necessary...

Overlord done, next up Red Faction Guerilla PC.

Add Resident Evil Umbrella Chronicles (Wii) for me, please.

Release date of May 18th... too close. Pile worthy next month for sure.

Ahh - had not known that rule of the pile. I'm tempted to say Dragon Age, but I KNOW that's just not going to happen.

See you in month!

Yeah, I looked at gamefaqs this morning. I think I'm going to call it at the end of season 7 or level 50 or something similar.
