Moonbase Alpha - Catch All

Not that there's all that much to catch, IMO. I tried playing an offline mode game and the first level just has way too much to do for one person. I may get my wife to download it and try to play it together tonight and see if that works better.

But hey, at least it's free!

I played around with it yesterday and really liked it (you're on the Moon, man!). I wouldn't mind playing with some other Goodjers as the tasks get more complex when you have more people playing.

It took me two run throughs to beat the 25 minute timer for the repairs. After that, I messed around with different approaches and found that if you focus on getting the life support systems as repaired and efficient as possible, you can get by with one solar array and still beat the timer. You'll need to use both types of robots, though. Use the welder bot to repair the slightly or moderately damaged life support modules and use the bot with the arm to replace any heavily damaged modules.

The movement and controls are as clunky as you would expect for being in a EVA suit on the Moon. There's just something cool about bunny hopping around on the Moon like the Apollo astronauts! The animations for picking up or dropping an object can get a bit annoying, especially if you're trying to replace a power coupler before it goes critical.

The best thing is that it's free and on Steam, so download away!

Can you play golf? Or, failing that, steal the moon buggy and abandon your fellow astronauts?

Did somebody say free? Downloading now.

No golf, but the moon buggy can do awesome donuts.

Yeah, I think me and the wife will have to try and play tongiht. Maybe next week I'll setup a larger game for goodjers. I'll post it here a few days before I do.

Ooh, I forgot this was coming out! I'll have to try it out this weekend.

How does the multiplayer work exactly?

You have to work with other people (from one other person to up to 7 other people) to restore O2 to the Moonbase habitat. The number and complexity of the systems you have to repair increases with more people. Then the challenge becomes how you coordinate with everyone to finish the task in the allotted time.
