This Truth is Self-Evident, the Pile Won't Clear Itself

Carrying over Penumbra: Black Plague and Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - Trials and Tribulations. Doubt I'll get either finished, especially T&T. I loaded it up last night to check my progress and somehow my save regressed to hours earlier in the game. This wouldn't normally bother me as much as it does for the pure fact that PW is interactive fiction; and therefore, not very replayable.

My main goal is Deus Ex: GOTY Edition. I'm currently in Hell's Kitchen roaming around. Man I have a good memory of this game even though I haven't played it in at least 8 years. Besides some of the dialogue there's an extreme sense of déjà vu that I'm loving. Yeah, the game's still awesome too. Pretty mods are nice as well.

Just don't let yourself get bogged down in Vizima. The pace goes a bit weird and that's where most people get stuck. Once you get through the game is fantastic.

Unafortunately, it looks like I won't be playing much of it for a bit, as I spilled water on my PC this morning, and it appears fried. I will let it dry out for the weekend, and hopefully that'll fix it. If not, I'll be calling my computer guy on Monday. Good thing he owes me a favor.

Urk! That sucks dude.

On the plus side,... Upgrade!

No matter how hard you try to ignore it, the end of Vizima will still be there. Good luck on both accounts.

Think I'm gonna give Castlevania: SotN a shot this month. Was impressed to see that quite a few folks on my friends list have all the achievements (206% and all).

Oh, as well as Trine I'll stick Sam & Max season 1 on the list again - i'll get through those damned games if it kills me

No! :*(

It's an awesome game, and 206% was a lot of fun to get. Here's a tip for the Dracula one and the Richter one: pressing Y while Richter uses what's called an item crash. If you're carrying the holy water, the item crash is ridiculously powerful and will make short work of any bosses you encounter.

Seems to be working fine now, although that means that it's harder to talk myself into an upgrade.

I may just work on this inbetween my declared titles. One achievement unlocked, BACK IN 2007!?!?! (my pile has much shame).

Blitzed it on the PSX, so will look forward to re-aquainting myself. Will be quite a different experience I imagine. In my PSX college days, all we could play games on was a 12" colour tv, through the RF input. Jump forward to now and I'll be playing this on my 50" screen.

Awesome.

PC - Overlord.

Well, you know, once you've had water in your system a short or failure of some sort is probably inevitable. It's better to preemptively do some work so you don't end up losing important data, like game saves.

How was that?

*edit*

Seriously though, glad it's fine hopefully nothing else goes wrong. Enjoy the Witcher, and if you ever get bogged down bear in mind this advice I've shared before.

My 50 year old mother beat the game 5 times. You can do it.

The first thing I did was back up my saves. Everything else is pretty well backed up.

And a new computer is inevitable, but I'd rather wait a month or two because I've just spent a fortune on business expenses, the new iPhone and an iPad this week.

Between marathoning through the seasons of Deadwood and Dexter, I wasn't able to finish Fable 2 last month, so that's my game for this month.

Apparently, I'm working jonman's system of beating games I haven't declared. Finished the "story" to the first Countdown last night at about 2am -- and, hey! At least I finished the game technically before the sequel came out! That's got to count for something, right? Right?

Anyway, I'll be turning my attention to some of what I've already declared, I suppose...

More powerful video cards and processors would mean more heat, would mean the case is more dry, and you would have less opportunity to grow mold. I just saved your life there.

Not to be nit picky, but do you mean Crackdown? Countdown shows me this in wikipedia:

"Countdown was a point-and-click adventure game released by Access Software for MS-DOS in 1990. The player plays as Mason Powers, a CIA agent who wakes up in a Turkish mental hospital, suffering from partial amnesia and accused of murdering his supervisor. Powers must escape the hospital, find out who framed him, piece together his memory, and prevent terrorists from blowing up a peace conference."

I mean, point and click games from 1990 need love too, but seriously.

Whoops. And I thought I was kicking it old school with a game from 2007.

(Though, to be fair, I think my eye did cast that direction on some abandonware flirtations -- it rings a bell...)

Castlevania falls!

Just Cause 2 is finally done. 47hrs 30mins and a 60.06% completion rate and now I get to go through 'mercenary mode'. I doubt I'll ever get 100%, though. If it wasn't for this thread, I probably would have just kept running around for quite a long time before I moved on to finish the 'story'.

I'm going to finish Crysis Warhead. I've only had it from a Steam sale about a year ago...

The good news is it's super short.

In FF7 news....OMG

Spoiler:

AERIS DIES??!?!?!?

All joking aside, it's actually too bad that's such a huge internet spoiler, because it's a pretty good plot point. FF7's story has a lot going for it, but my god that translation really doesn't help. I really wonder how much crap localization has contributed to the decline of the JRPG among western gamers.

I also have way more materia than I can deal with. I'm at the point where I spend a lot of time leveing a materia only to shelve it when I get all the spells in favor of something that needs leveling, thereby forgoing the benefits of said materia. Kind of twisted.

Low hanging fruit, my friend, low hanging fruit.

That's what you get for choosing boxers instead of briefs!

Spoiler:

Gravity is a cruel mistress

Finished the Persona 3 expansion. Those were some long hours. Like GiantBomb said on the endurance run for the fourth, it grows and stays with you, but I don't think I want to play another one again.

Put me down for Shadow of the Colossus, PS2 of course.

Yeah, it's one of the banes of the obsessive compulsive gamer, the materia surplus. I spent entirely too long leveling up materia, though I did break it up into digestible installments: 1 hour leveling sessions in between homework and house chores (I was in highschool back when FF7 originally dropped) and the long play sessions I would allot for story progression.

I don't think I've ever spent as much time grinding in any other game since!

Wow! That was rather quick. I'm still pluggin' away on The Journey. 20 hours in or so. I doubt I'll beat it this month but still, chipping away at the grindstone.

Yeah. The Answer is about 30 hours (plus the few times I died, so a few more hours). Don't expect much of this one. Just grinding with some story in between, no social linking, special events and whatnot, but it gives a sense of closure. As usual I listened to podcasts during the grind, pretty good way to catch up on these.

I'm not sure why I let these titles linger. I really enjoyed Crysis until the giant "thing" at the end just about melted my old PC. I'm really enjoying Warhead too. I guess I need to remind myself that I do like an occasional FPS from time to time.
