The next game from the Penumbra team
http://www.amnesiagame.com/#main

...and that trailer is freakin' awesome/terrifying (turn your speakers up before watching if you can )

I never did manage to get through much of Penumbra - it's something I have sitting on the shelf that I keep meaning to get back to at some stage, though if I'm honest I'm not a huge fan of not being able to fight back in survival horror type games. $20 for the online version ($16 if pre-ordered*) means I'm more than willing to give it a try at least anyway.

If nothing else their sound design and physics model is damned impressive for a low-budget developer.

*Apparently if they get at least 2000 pre-orders before 31st of May they'll throw in some extra content as well.

Loved the Penumbra series, even with it's quirks. Great trailer.

Never played Penumbra, but that trailer was awesomely creepy. I may have to check this out.

You can now pre-order this game for $10 until May 11th. They're hoping to get 2000 pre-orders by the end of the month; if they do, they'll be able to add some more content to the game.

That was enough to push me over the edge and preorder.

Yup, they got my money yesterday.

Never Played Penumbra but that video looked really cool. They got my money 2 minutes ago.

Thanks StevenMack

Boogle/Wordy,

[X] Well that explains the sucking sound!

I put in my pre-order. I've only played the first Penumbra game, and for probably under 5 hours. But I do like these types of games, and I figured $10 for an indie game that is going to be good I want to support. Especially if they're going to add in some extra content for it.

Pre-ordered. What got me to do it was the pre-order meter and this:

Closer to the release of Amnesia, if requested, a pre-order from the Frictional Games Store can be converted to a Steam activation key.

I guess I just love Steam.

Chalk up an other pre-order. 212 to go for the add'l content, according to the meter.

Indeed. I consolidate under Steam just like I use Amazon for everything. That way I get a "Hey, you already bought that, dumbass." warning.

Extra content acquired! I think I'll play Penumbra for my pile next month.

In case anyone was unsure what the "extra content" actually will be, it's a Valve style commentary track. It's not extra levels or anything. I'm kind of interested just to see what a smaller scale indie developer goes through to get a game like this out.

Totally. I love commentary tracks.

hmmm. must. have.

I'd like to play the game but it is way to early for a pre-order for me.

OP is wrong, by the way, it's actually 50% off. For another 45 minutes, apparently.

In case that changes anything.

Helluva job enabling there. Plant-worthy, even.

Preordered. That trailer is scary as hell.

If you don't mind me asking, why? Principle? I've never understood the general reluctance to preorder among gamers. Did Gamestop scar us that badly?

I'm not sure why I wrote 45 minutes? I guess I'm dumb. It, of course, isn't 50% off for another -30 minutes. I just appear to be one of those crazy people that don't believe in timezone differences.

I'm glad I got someone to do it, though, even if it was by nefarious means.

You know, I loved Penumbra. Since they got the required 2000, I'll probably just wait until release and pay full price to give them the extra $ since I was planning on buying anyway.

I would gladly pre-order around a month early but six months just seems way too early. Too many things could happen, etc. This game will probably not fall into the "postponed" catagory but still...

It's closer to 3 or 4 months now, but I see what you're saying.

I figured it was only $10 though, and it's not like it's EA or something...

With small scale releases like this I see my pre-order as an investment into the game's future health. I have a couple games with pre-orders running months ahead of release. And it's not like these guys don't already have a track record of producing a quality project on a limited budget.

Then again I'm pretty into boardgames and in that world people are often willing to pony up the cash ahead of time to make sure the game gets printed. A number of companies won't do a print run until a critical mass of pre-orders is reached to cover their own expenses... that industry is just too small to take on a debt risk.

Release planned for September 8th. Woohoo?

A little longer than I'd hoped, but alas.

Subscribing so I remember to buy this game later. looks awesome.

Darn, I was hoping to play their games back to back. It'll be at least a month wait after I'm done with Requiem. Not too big of a deal though.

Awesome, thanks for the heads up. I was thinking of waiting til I get the full game next Wednesday, but I can't resist a demo. Ever.

No! I must resist! Only 5 more days....

Yeah, getting close now. Must not cave into watching anymore trailers, nor trying the demo. The game just seemed so atmospheric from the first trailer I saw that I've been avoiding info. Gaah, can't wait!
