Transformers: War For Cybertron Catch-All

Is the $39 price tag only in Canada?

So I loaded up steam and Transformers isn't available for me... does anyone know when steam is releasing it in Australia?

Somewhat bad news.

But if you ask nice enough I'm sure someone would be willing to gift you a copy.

I was planning on picking this up, especially at $40, but money just got tight. Boo.

Well if they aren't going to release it here for a while, then I'll wait. I'm in no rush to give them my money if they aren't going to even bother to make it available here.

The more I read the more I want this game. But I'm with BlackSabre, if they're gonna jerk us around it may turn into a console rental instead of a PC purchase.

I think so. I don't know if you could use a flyer to get a price match, but it might be worth a try.

I think this was the price on Steam in the US.

Well I broke down and bought it on Steam last night. Curse you filthy enablers, my pile grows ever higher.

Played the first two Decepticon missions last night. It feels a little rough around the edges, the AI is pretty dumb, and most of the environments so far have been way too busy. I don't care, though, because this is a game that lets me turn into a jet, fly over my enemies, turn back into a robot in midair, cloak, and then land behind them and smash them into scrap with a whirlwind melee attack.

Damn enablers. I'm looking at the wallet, then looking at Steam. I'll let you know which wins.

Now back at the wallet, now back at Steam. Sadly, it isn't free, but if you're willing to spend some money, this is the game your day could look like. Look down, now back up. You're at your PC with the game your day could look like. What's on your screen? Look back at Steam. It's a progress bar downloading that thing you want. Look again. The bar is now finished! Everything is so convenient when you purchase through Steam.

I'm on a horse.

And many of our retail outlets are selling the 360/PS3 versions for $39. I know.. I got one

Canucks are always lucky about the video game deals they get.

This is the best use of anything ever. ClockworkHouse wins the internet. Everyone else can go home and stay there.

Except the part that every other game EVER is always $10 more than the US price. Honestly, they only times I remember games coming out at $39 in Canada when they were full price in the States are for Batman: AA, Borderlands and this. It's not that common of an occurence, but it is exciting when it happens.

Is there any version that has split screen coop? I want to play this with my son but don't want to spend $120 for two copies.

Don't think any version has split screen, unfortunately.

Boo! It's much more fun to play together on the same screen than on two different computers. What's the likelyhood that I have two 360s or PS3s? Looks like I'll probably wait on this until it gets cheaper. His birthday is coming up next week, too. I think I'll opt for Super Hero Squad.

I am very disappointed. I was going to get it for the 360 for that reason but maybe I'll just wait and get it on a steam sale on my shiny new PC.

Is it sad that I just get a kick out of watching them transform over and over again?

Not at all. I take whatever chance I can get to do it.

There is nothing better than transforming into a car, hitting the boost and pressing the jump button over a gap, transforming in mid-air back to a robot so that you fly at high speeds to the other side of the crevasse to land on your feet, guns blazing.

This is the Transformers game I've wanted since I was like three.

Bastards, you talked me into it. The game is downloading from Steam right now.

bwaha, join the matrix.

Btw, as I was playing last night, it had me create an ID. I'm assuming then that this game (even though it integrates with steam) has it's own ID you'll need to share with people. Correct?

I've been playing the game. So far, it feels and plays pretty solid in the fundamentals, but I'm so not digging the artstyle of this game. Too cluttered. Too hard to see your targets. Death animations are too generic. The game could use a nice, big, thick black outline on all the players on the field.

Thank you! I just finished saying this exact same sentiment in an email to a friend.

Just got home and about to try it out. IUMogg on the 360 if anyone wants to friend me up and join my robot posse

I'm leaning PC, due to the price.

I just beat this game, and damn does it get hard for the major bosses. However, it's not exactly a "that's so unfair" hard, but a "ok, NOW I gotta transform into a car and drive in circles until he stops blasting missiles and fireballs at me" hard.

I didn't have much trouble spotting enemies. They have a very Tron look to them and the game tends to put red crosshairs over them when they come into view/range. The art style does seem to get monotonous, but honestly, it's Cybertron. There aren't many palettes of art styles to choose from. It's a planet of metal and robotics. The most they could do was make the characters a bit brighter, but the lighting engine would still probably obscure them in the environment since everything is supposed to look like it is made of metal.

I found the levels to be very fun and combat to be good on the whole, but co-op definitely makes it a joy. I think it would only make boss fights harder because you never have to worry about A.I. dying, whereas if your friend runs out of health you need to figure out how to save him without dying yourself.

The flying characters are awesome in campaign, by the way.

Is there a list of GWJers with T:WFC around, or a steam community group?

@ccesarano - Yeah, after playing through the first two Decepticon chapters, I've definitely gotten used to the art style, and it's much easier for me to pick out enemies. At first though, it was a bit busy.

Would love a discount during the summer sale. Fingers crossed.
