WoW BHA Monday Night Crew - Ruby Sanctum Tonight 12/6! Farewell to WotLK

Yeah, people do not know how to play DKs a lot of times. They just queue tank cause its faster (it is really annoying).

I hit 54 (I believe, i really can not remember now) Looking forward to tonight. I still never collected BRD quests, hopefully I can hope on and get some. Full BRD tonight? Full inner or Full Full run?

I'm feeling kinda frisky, lets do the whole thing.

Frost presence and a decent spec go farther than actually knowing how to play at low levels.

This. And since this is sort of the right thread, any one have tips for starting out a DK tank?

I just button mash with my DK atm since I don't play him much. He just hit 59 last night, and unholy spec atm. One of these days I'll get around to reading EJ's article on DKs.

Also, sorry to say, but won't be on much tonight, have to go out of town tomorrow so have to get packed and want to spend some time with my wife before I go.

Yea, that's about all I'm capable of at the moment, too. I have a basic grasp of what does what, but very little beyond that. It's very disconcerting after having played one class for the best part of however long this game's been out.

You might check the DK thread. No idea how useful it will be though, since my DK is pretty strictly nothing but a farmer. (Huzzah for On A Pale Horse!)

Yea, just looked through it. I hadn't noticed it up on the front page at all for some reason, totally didn't register to me. My spec is pretty in line with what Ran posted, although that's a year out of date, it seems like it's still pretty sound.

55-56 is where we are going to try to meet up at on 6/28.

I am already 2 bubbles from 57 with this fire festival... I CAN'T STOP!

Yeah, I might have ended up the same if I hadn't spent so much time (unsuccessfully) trying to fix my addons. I hate the guys who made AVR so goddamn much right now -- it seems as though in trying to disable that mod, Blizzard has killed two or three addons that I am very fond of.

That sucks :*( I have never been a big ad on person. I just use basics.. all mine seemed to continue working.

I can't seem to Queue for Lord Ahune. Do I need to hit 55 for it to allow me in or something?

How are you guys getting so much XP? I got about a half of a level so far, but thats mostly from honoring the flame at all my discovered FPs. Oh ya, and catching torches is nearly impossible.

Yeah, I got half a level (maybe a bit more) from the intro quests and the first round of dailies on Monday. Just be sure you run any quest you see that's related to the festival. I'd guess that the two dailies are probably worth three or four bubbles, and each "honoring/desecrating the flame" is probably half a bubble, maybe a full bubble. That is with the heirloom bonus, mind you, but still, if you just run all over the world hitting all the honor/desecrates, that's got to be worth a level or two at the very least.

Oh ya, and catching torches is nearly impossible.

Try this: zoom your camera all the way out, aim it down, and watch the shadows. Just run along with the shadow, and you should be good to go.

Also, if you haven't already, you can increase the max zoom available with this command:

/console cameraDistanceMaxFactor #

I think I currently use 4, but somewhere in the 3-5 range is probably good. It's amazing how big a difference this will make for your situational awareness, and it's also amazing how much it will make you hate areas with tightly enclosed spaces because you will have to go back to having your camera zoomed in (since WoW's camera won't clip through walls).

Anyway, that should also help a great deal in following the shadows.

Yeah, I have done the catching and throwing flames everyday. Each day its 8.5k xp each..that is 17k xp which is a LOT at our levels. That is only the 2 quests (I can complete them in about 3 minutes.)

Going to the zones gives u a little bit also. If you find zones that have the horde fire put and go put it out, you get a LOT more xp for those. I did it in searing gorge accidently when I was turning in BRD quests.

I put out the flames in The Badlands and then got rocked by the horde.

I don't know what number my max zoom is set to, but I can basically make it look like an RTS. I'll try that though. The hardest part for me was following the shadow through a crowd of other people.

Try 78.

The only way you can queue for Ahune is through the LFD tool. I tried on my lvl 77 warrior and got the ol' stiff arm.

Anyone in our group ever done/know how to lead us to do the Dire Maul tribute run? Is it worth doing?

I know how to do it. We cna do a lot of it, without doing a full one. Do do a full one you need to make the ogre suit which would basically need a lot of items...mainly.. Bolt of Runecloth x4 Rugged Leather x 8 (I have plenty) Rune Thread x 2 (we can buy) and the hard part...i BELIEVE...its Frost Oil and a Thorium Widget. Kinda both annoying to get!

Other then that we need to run east first, so that we can get the key to get into north (oh wait...maybe u can just queue?

Basically by the time u can do this (58 or so) we will probably be moving on to outlands... but I am 100 percent game to try.

*Edit* I see you have the link to the items... i am dumb

Sounds kinda difficult, lets try it.

I drunkenly hit 55 today. ZeroKFE's method, and the lack of a crowd made the torch catching much easier.

Here's some interesting notes on the tribute run from Ancient Gaming Noob.

I hit 57 today, so I should be in line with everyone else.

Hit 60 the other day with my DK, but most likely won't be on tomorrow night.

It's official, I've hit that point in a mage's career where Blizzard has decided we should all look like circus clowns. I'm sporting a lovely combination of gray, green, orange, purple, gold, red, blue, and brown. Ugh.

Extra credit for everyone! Looks like we all surpassed the 56 goal.

I'll log on a little early and toss some torches around and go do the daily in Silithus (sp?), so if anyone wants to join me just jump on around 6:30ish.

I rolled my first DK last night. That is a really neat starting zone. I have no intention of replacing my Pally, but there's no doubt the DK is unique and, so far, pretty fun to play.

Wear it with pride, brother. And remember this. Naysayers and those that would tease you about your appearance are like wood. They burn. THEY ALL BURN! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

So excited everyone is doing well. We will be in Outlands next week

I have dinner plans tonight at 6:30pm (8pm is when we start....my time) so I have a hour and a half to eat and get home. I may be pushing it, she does have a 3 yr old to put to sleep, so i do not think we will be hanging around or lingering. I just want to let you guys know in cast time hits and I am not back...go ahead and start.

Can we make tonight "help Eric be a better tank" night please? I need some more input from you guys. What am I doing wrong, where should I park the mob, yada yada...

I feel like I'm doing a passable job, but I'd I'd really like to improve. I know most of my issues lie with not knowing the instances very well, and I'm hoping to rectify that with either dual spec or my DK and run them as DPS to get a feel for them first. Unfortunately there's only so much time in the day for that. Coach me guys, don't worry I have pretty thick skin.

For the content we're doing now, you're doing a great job. I don't really see much room for improvement. If the dps are not holding back and also not taking aggro, and the healer isn't getting healing aggro, and everyone is living, I think you're doing the job right. If you were playing a warrior tank or druid tank (or good grief a level 56ish DK tank...) things would be different for you - more fiddly bits to juggle to be a good tank. You happened to have chosen the tank class that, while not "push 1 button to win!" easy, is just not as "busy" to tank with as the others.

That said, we are beginning to get into content that requires a bit more situational awareness - I ran LBRS last night, and somehow before killing the boss we had taken a huge detour through UBRS. Besides the fact that our group was a little too low level for some of the fights there (tank was only 56 and I was whiffing and doing 1/4 damage on lots of battles), there were a lot of fights that required the tank to do more than you're used to from the previous 55+ levels. There's orcs that randomly charge the dps and healers, knocking them backwards quite a ways, etc. Then there's The Beast. We failed to take him down (wiped), but apparently there is some strategy to this fight - tank needs to get control and wedge into a corner or wall, and the dps needs to get behind and take him out. Or something (not sure since we only got him down to about 40% before we wiped). But this is all old world level 60 raid stuff. By the time we get to Outlands, things are kind of easy again, and at least the 70-75 Northrend instances I've done are also pretty straightforward and easy.

The more experienced folk may have more to add or a different answer, but until we start doing raid or heroic level stuff, I don't think there's much else to learn or do. You're doing a great job!

So a general question about the primary goal for the group: is it just to level up to 80 as quickly as possible, or is it to experience group content along the way?

The reason I ask is, there is a large amount of content that would be easy to skip over by queuing for Outlands dungeons at 58. Do we care? Does anyone have any interest in doing any of the old school level 60 raid stuff? Just curious. I can happily go either way.

I know there are some folks in the guild that have expressed interest in joining us to do some of the content they missed (Sluggoth comes to mind, I'm sure there are others). We could conceivably put together a 10 man party, stretching it a bit but possibly 20 man for stuff like Zul'Gurub.
