Rayman: Origins

This was the first, and only, great surprise of E3 so far for me. The game looks fantastic and fun. The trailer was well narrated, cut, and set the right tone for a Rayman title. I've never been interested in Rayman before but this looks day one. Can't wait to hear impressions if this is on the floor.

Some news about the tools they created would be great.

Sweet.

I'm game. My wife really enjoyed Rayman 2, but I don't think there has been a straight-up Rayman platformer since then? Looks like it is probably co-op too, which is always a plus.

I like the trend of companies putting platformers back into 2D

I want a new downloadable Metroid and Castlevania so bad. Shadow Complex only made that hunger stronger.

Please

Wow, that looks fantastic! I've been wanting a real Rayman game for a long time, getting so tired of all this Rabbids garbage.

Very, very cool.

Ooh. I have been contemplating a replay of Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc lately, and this gives me even more of a reason!

It looks fantastic! I love Rayman and I can't wait for this!

Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaant! So glad this is a downloadable title. Nintendo might tried to sell it as a full game a la Wario.

The art in this is amazing. Apparently they're using hand drawn concept art for most of it, which explains why it looks AWESOME.

This is the series which is holding up Beyond Good and Evil 2 for a few more years. :\

There is not enough Michel Ancel to go around

So it is confirmed downloadable? I thought a while back they released the retail box's cover art, and one of the reasons why they went from episodic to one game. Anyway, the game still looks great.

I don't understand why we don't see super high res sprite art like this used for more 2D games. It always looks awesome in motion.

Off screen gameplay from Gamescom:

Demo lands on PSN/XBLA Wed. 11/9.

My interest in Origins has been tickled over the past couple weeks. I initially wrote it off due to its full-price disc release, but have come around after going over media and reading some previews and reviews.

Here's the highlights from Ninteno Power's Wii review:

Rayman Origins: 9.5/10 (Wii)

+Beautiful art
+Inspired soundtrack that amplifies the manic atmosphere
+Nothing plain or boring
+Extremely fluid
+Some of the "tightest" level design in the reviewers' 26 year experience with platformers
+Great at creating sense of momentum
+Perfect difficult
+Great multiplayer
+Always introducing new concepts

Overall: "Best Rayman game ever made. A platforming masterpiece."

Looks like it could be a winner.

My girlfriend really enjoys New Super Mario Bros. Wii and Kirby's Epic Yarn so I've been watching this with interest. I was really hoping it would hit and it looks like it might. I hope it has co-op.

It has 4-player drop in/drop out just like NSMB Wii.

Demo? Yay! Full priced game what? Thought it was a download. Don't care. Will buy after the holidays.

The demo is fantastic, the gameplay is spot on, and the music and visuals are incredible. I've had this pre-ordered for awhile and I'm glad it's going to live up to my expectations.

Unfortunately my purchase will have zero impact on this game succeeding. Not sure what Ubisoft was thinking by: A) Not releasing this at a discounted price ($40 seems like a better option to me), and B) putting this out on the biggest release day of the year against AC: Rev, SR 3 and Halo, not to mention right between new Mario and Zelda games.

I've already got it preordered. Will be great to play something with the kids that doesn't involve shooting people.

Hot damn is this fun! WTF French people!

I don't think I can convince myself to buy it next week. I'm alread getting Saints Row 3 and Skyrim, buy one get one half-price (Kmart). Unless I decide to pick up Assassin's Creed and shell out $180 total, which would be silly*, because my roommate is buying it.

*This is what I have to keep telling myself.

Yeah I don't remember a 4th quarter this bad on the wallet. I had to pass on Saint's Row 3 and MW3 until sometime next year.

This has actually been a light season for me. So far all I've bought is Dark Souls and Modern Warfare 3.

The next two weeks, though... SR3, Skyrim and Zelda: SS are must-haves. AC:R, Rayman, and Super Mario Land 3D are sirens of temptation.

Okay, after playing the demo I've gotta say that this is probably the best looking game I've ever played. The art assests look just as amazing in-game as they did in the videos.

Yeah me and the family got together and tried out the demo and it was hilarous chaos, I am really glad I ordered the game. The only downside is keeping track of your character in the chaos, but I'm sure as the game goes on you get more into the groove. The game is gorgeous and brings back some old time gaming memories with its 2D play yet feels like a turbo charged iteration of that kind of gameplay with an amazingly realized art style. Really fun, everyone was yelling and laughing, we have not had this kind of communal gameplay in a long time, if ever really.

You're lucky, I've already been compelled to pick up Rage, Batman, Battlefield, Skyrim, Rayman, and Star Wars TOR in December. Dark Souls is another one I just had to make a pass on.

I had my eye on this game for a while but wasn't sure what to expect. After 10 minutes with the demo, I immediately went and pre-ordered it. I love platformers and I simply can't pass up one that's this incredible looking. I hope it's not so insanely hard that my girlfriend can't play co-op with me (she enjoys this type of game) but even if it is, I'll totally finish it myself. It is nothing less than a crime against gaming if this doesn't sell well.

That song they play at the beginning of the underwater level is sweet.

Well, if the demo is an indication there's no lives. You keep going back to the previous checkpoint.

It's been stuck in my head since I woke up this morning.

Wow, what a fantastic demo. I'm so happy that they are finally putting out a real Rayman game again instead of all the Ravid Rabbids crap. Reminded me why I love Rayman so much.

Can't wait to get this. So much fun.

Having played this for a couple of hours with my girlfriend tonight, I think I can definitely say that anyone who doesn't buy this game and supports Michel Ancel's efforts to make games like this is just...a bad person or something. After only one world, this is already in my top five games of the year easily. It's just a total gem.

It just comes down to release date. Sure, the only platforming competition is Kirby and Mario on other systems, but for gaming as a whole, Ubisoft trashed this game just like Beyond Good and Evil.
