Star Wars: the Force Unleashed II Catch-All

I think I'm in the minority, but I really enjoyed the first Force Unleashed. I'm hoping the second get's the polish it needs. If the game is half as good at this latest trailer, I'll be happy.

I, too, enjoyed the first game. The GamePro cover story got me really hyped for the second one, as well.

Where's my Star Wars movie in that style? I'd pay to see that instead of the Toy Story style TV show I'm watching now.

Awesome. Throwing Things Simulator: Part II. Sign me up!

I'm just starting TFU and I'm really enjoying it so far. The animations of the characters are a little stiff, but so far it's a really well-told story within the universe. Looking forward to the sequel.

I still can't get over that I'm playing Crashdown from BSG though. ;p

The difficulty spikes in the original have turned me off from the series. If the second one blows away critics and gamers, I'll give it a go.

I enjoyed the first one, except for a few of the more infamous sequences. Hopefully this one has less annoyances and more staying power.

From the GamePro article and the first game's story, you can probably expect better gameplay with a weaker story.

Never played the first game, but ran into the FMV sequences on Youtube and was unexpectedly dragged in. There's about fifty minutes of video in the original game, and the plot is quite well put together. More so, surprisingly, than most of the prequel films.

Yeah, the parts where the game wasn't horrifically difficult were lots of fun. It's the first game where I've really felt like a force-powered badass. I just hope they dump the godawful QTEs to take out bigger enemies, those drove me nuts. Of course, there's no guarantee the trailer will be anything like the actual gameplay, but it shows loads of promise.

I expect half of the moves from the trailer can only be pulled off by QTEs. And I still think it's weird having Chad Vader as the voice of Darth Vader.

Hilariously there is an achievement in the first called "Worst Day-Shift Manger Ever"

So now he has two lightsabers that act like baseball bats and holds like a douchebag. Real improvement there.

Well, I may check it out. Some (most?) of the platforming in the first one was so incredibly frustratingly bad in the first one, that it sorta ruined it for me. That new trailer is pretty awesome, though.

FTFY. I had very little issue getting through the game, but screw the last boss fight.

This game has at least twice the hype going for it just from that first video, but I'll be damned if I buy into it this time.

While I never really minded the reverse grip, this is hilarious

I mean, really, nothing screams "I'm a douchebag who thinks he/she is a better Jedi/Sith than you are" than holding your lightsaber backwards. Hell, even in Star Wars: Clone Wars, Anakin took that kid to task for doing the same thing. Maybe he gave up with Darth Crashdown.

Same here. It was pretty easy for a lot of it but some parts were way too difficult. I may pick the second up if the difficulty level is more even. The trailer looks awesome, though.

Never saw the Clone Wars series, but I could see that. Personally, I look at it like fighting with a really, really big knife.

I just had my game-hating, Star Wars tolerating wife watch the trailer. I gave her a quick summary of the first game before watching. Her thoughts?
"Oh come on! Darth Vader really thinks a few stormtroopers will be able to kill his apprentice?"
"The force can turn a guy into a nuke? I thought you just got dark circles under your eyes and some purple lightning."
"Clones? Really? They're going with clones again? Can they not think of any other story line in Star Wars?" (side note: the only Star Wars books I've ever convinced her to read included either a clone of Luke Skywalker or the Emperor, can't recall which)

awesome.

Kehama, maybe your wife should do a review of the movies. Got to be better than most of the one out there.

She has a point, they do lean on the whole clone thing pretty hard.

Honestly the biggest barrier to this for me is the fact that storm troopers and most bad guys took more than a single swipe of a lightsaber to kill. Seriously it's a power sword. If I swing it at you and hit you, you should be dead. What's that mr big man in a tin can suit? Every force power I have at my disposal doesn't work against you and you require me to hit you 53 times with my lightsaber before you die?

Seriously, the game was fun for a little while until you realise your just holding a stick that you can use to bop people on the head with. I've raged waaaaaaay too much in the original Force Unleashed thread so I'm not going to go into that again here.

In summation: PASS!

Fun throwback to Empire video here.

Sounds like Yoda's putting something funny in his pipe when he smokes it.

Didn't he always?

Am I the only one who played the demo? I thought it made a convincing case, reinforcing the fundamental brilliance of the "Hey, let's put a Star Wars skin on God of War!" pitch.

I played. It's GOWish, but it still feels different enough that I won't be imagining myself inflicting Kratos levels of rage violence on my opponents.

And severed limbs/heads? Awesome.

The demo was surprisingly solid. It felt like a real step forward from the first game, so I'll definitely be picking it up.

I was glamored by the first game's demo too. I'm going to wait and see with this one.
