Psst, the picture is a link!

Thanks, read the idea, which sounds really cool, but I can't get it to run. "XINPUT1_3.dll" cannot be found. This is on a Win XP laptop.

Hmm, MysticViolet had the same problem which is really odd since that DLL is part of DirectX 9. In any case, here is a build of the game that doesn't link to it: Download

well switch, another really awesome concept and execution!

It's sort of the way I played and enjoyed killing floor as well as TF2 in the start and BF BC. I love supporting guys by delivering ammo / health and sometimes telling people what to do. Being the medic / mechanic / soldier and dropping stuff for people is so fun.

Just wanted to say I got my Intuos 4 over the weekend!
IMAGE(http://www.wacom-asia.com/files/u9/Intuos4_Medium_ExpKeys-in-u.jpg)

It seems to be a really slick device - haven't had time yet for more than fiddling with the settings & trying out the configurations. Lots of scribbles so far!

I can see where people used to the older series are thrown off by the 'paper' feel. Drawing with it definitely feels more like pencil on paper rather than plastic on plastic! The OLED button labels are really cool, handy seeing what your button function is right on the tablet itself.

A question for anyone who has an Intuos, what do you use for sketching? I'm trying to find the best program / setting for basic pencil sketching. I've been tinkering with ArtRage, and I've got a copy of Autodesk Sketchbook 2010 (haven't tried it yet), trying to find the best option.

I use a pencil and paper and a scanner but for digital sketching, I'll use Photoshop or Corel Painter X-- layers are our friends. Alchemy is a lot of fun too, but I've yet to really produce anything more than random doodles from it so far.

I need to make an outfeed table for my table saw, but to cut down the panels for it I really need an outfeed table. So this afternoon I tested out my brand new Freud Fusion Premier table saw blade and whipped together a little portable outfeed table out of some scraps I had. Later this week I'll probably band the edges with some oak that I have so that cheap particle board top doesn't get dinged up on the edges. Unfortunately Home Depot doesn't melamine coated MDF. Although now I realize I should've just used thin masonite on some MDF like I did for the workbenches for my milling machine and metal lathe. Oh well, this table is just a short-lived means to build its replacement anyway.

That piece of scrap hanging out over the near corner is due to the slope from my garage floor.

I made this out of a block of wood with my dad.

Sculptris is awesome! I messed around with it for 20 or so minutes and came up with this

Looks like Rigel from Farscape...

Sweet! Another convert. I really hope this little program catches fire. Keep up on sculptin' dethroned! I should make shirts that say "Just say no to Zbrush" or "Friends don't let friends Zbrush" =P

Nice. Bisley? Are those cartridges antique? Usually only really old lead oxidizes like that.

Thanks.

Nope a year or so old Just check the ammo can, and they are all nice and clean not sure why it oxidized so fast.

Fang, I'm definitely enjoying the program and would love to get better. Most of what I came up with was an accident as I'm too lazy to read a manual or instructions to figure stuff out

I definitely love the program 100% more than ZBrush. I tried it awhile back and got so horribly confused I gave up.

Another quick tip: for more even strokes, especially if using a mouse, make sure the "lazy" text is highlighted up by the brush settings.

Also the H key is invaluable. If you hold down H and left click drag a box, it will hide everything in that box (it will just show the points and hide the polys). If you hold down H and right click drag a box it will hide everything outside that box. Ctrl H unhides everything.

Sometimes symmetry can get in the way or cause errors if you are too close to the symmetry axis. So in these cases, turn off symmetry and sculpt to your hearts content, and then turn symmetry back on and it will make the object symmetrical again. It is important to note that it will mirror the changes from object left to object right. So if the object is facing you, when you turn symmetry back on, the sculpting changes on the right will migrate to the left.

Here's the deck I built with my father-in-law. Took us about 3 weeks. Finished construction and got the staining done last Saturday, but I figured I'd wait for Wife to get all her furnature set up before I posted pics:

Thats awesome! My parents are thinking of putting a deck out back similar to this... do you work for cookies?

tch...some people just can't help waving their deck around in public

Currently working on a deck myself:

sadly not for me.

We just started on this one should be done some time next week. Its 700sq feet with an arbor and a screen room. I dont think we are going to build the screen room though.

this one I built basically by myself, and I am rather proud of it... but yet again not mine

Here's a bit of fan art I sent to Rebecca Mayes just for giggles.

IMAGE(http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i183/stevenmack/New%20Art%202010/gnome.jpg)

An explanation may be required...

I wanted to make it games related but put her into the game - so the FIRST idea was just a plain old photoshop job of a cover of No One Lives Forever with Rebecca as Cate Archer.

As she (very nicely) pointed out to me afterwards, in hindsight, perhaps puting her face on the body of a super-sexy super-spy pointing a gun at people was possibly NOT the best choice for someone who is not a fan of either of those things. Something that is glaringly evident in her songs. Woops! (A practical lesson in why NEVER to do things like this when you can't sleep at 2am in the morning)

Anway, I'm GLAD she pointed this out to me, since it gave me the opportunity to go and make the above as a replacement, when decidedly less sleep deprived.

I might have gotten a little carried away - but I think it turned out pretty good and she seemed to like it so...success!

***

For the record, I started with this...

IMAGE(http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i183/stevenmack/New%20Art%202010/starting_point.jpg)

...and a picture of her from her website and then built up the rest of it with random photo's (thank you Google), textures and a wee bit of 'painting' in photoshop to tie it all together. It's far from perfect (don't get me started on the left hand) by a long shot, and I was basically making it up as I went along, but I'm quite chuffed with how it turned out.

I did actually consider a goblin, but I went with the Gnome insted

Alas, my creations are of the marginal Photoshopping milieu. The first one all started because Elysium had dropped off the face of teh Internets, as chronicled in this thread. Then, a certain so-and-so suggested:

Here is Saturday's project, a worktable for my drill press. I still need to get the fence put together but I'm going to wait until I get my router table set up because it'll be a pain to route the dado for the t-track otherwise. The circle is a replaceable insert; actually on the right side you can see a few of the replacements I cut out. I had planned on leaving it square cornered and wrapping it in oak to protect the edges, but for crotch safety I decided to round the corners off.

its around 750 square feet with an arbor and a screen room (that might not happen this year).
also reorganized the documentation of my book makes experience:
