Transformers: War For Cybertron Catch-All

Why am I just hearing about this now? No Michael Bay, no humans; just robots blasting the sh*t out of each other (and Peter Cullen as Optimus Prime). Sounds like it could be a fun rental, at least. Hopefully it'll do for Transformers games what Arkham Asylum did for Batman games.

That's asking a lot.

I can literally see nothing bad about this. I may have to go and have a little lie down.

This is a day one purchase but I am a transformers fanboy

The clown at Gamestop was babbling some nonsense about a "legit" Transformers game coming out sometime this year. I dismissed him; perhaps I shouldn't have.

Perhaps not. It's not day 1 for me (i'm still saving up for Blur) but I remain on pins and needles for more reviews to pour in and see what's what.

The Gamestop commercial featuring Shockwave was hilarious

EDIT:
Here it is

I'm kind of excited about this game. The co-op multiplayer story mode would be fun to play with my kids. The PC version is the one I'd like to get for multiplayer but if the PS3/360 offer split screen that would be cheaper for the multiplayer. Pre-ordering from Amazon gets you the character "Demolisher" for the PS3/360 versions but the PC version doesn't seem to have that bonus.

Don't fret the preorder characters too much. Not only are they multiplayer mode only, it sounds like they're only playable in just one of the multiplayer game types.

That seems like a big waste of time. Put characters in that only a few people can use then restrict when they can use them.

I'm actually really curious about this since I've always wanted to see a Gen1 sort of game made. I figured because of the movies and constant anime revivals that was impossible, but it's looking like I'm wrong.

Still unsold on the game. I'd rather wait for a demo to come out first and find out.

Looks like a winner and it is out for all consoles and the PC.

PC version is $36.99. Over $20 less than the 360/PS3.

Looks like I'll finally be able to convince my cousin to play co-op with me. He grew up with Transformers and was crazy about it. And if it turns out great, that's even better.

They talked about this on Rebel FM, and the multiplayer sounded really cool. I'll probably grab it, as it'll fit nicely into a period when there's not a whole lot coming out.

Those of you who are getting it, what platform are you grabbing and why?

PS3, I have prior commitments with my brother and a friend to three player co-op this thing. I'd probably run it on PC due to the lower price point, but I don't have a high performance PC or look into 360 due to the larger online user base.

This came out of nowhere.

Multiplayer demo is up on the 360

Transform and roll out!

gamedealscanada (a twitter account I follow) mentioned a rumour that this game might be released at Walmart for around $39, similar to what they did with Batman: Arkham Asylum last year. If so, that's an instant purchase from me.

It's not on Steam's Coming Soon. Hopefully I won't have to purchase a box copy. I'd love to see a 4pack if it comes to Steam.

I just pre-ordered this game....I'm crossing my fingers this will not disappoint.

Just finished up about an hour with the demo and....

*Checks to make sure sky isn't falling*

Holy sh*t, we may actually have a good Transformers game on our hands.

It's fun. Even with the limited selections in the demo, it was still easy to pick up to play, and I had blast doing it. Baring no scathing negative reviews, this is a day one purchase for me.

So apparently this game has a horde-type mode called Escalation, and apparently it's in the multiplayer demo?

Can anyone confirm or deny the presence of Escalation in the demo? I'm not one for competitive, but if this has a four player survival mode then I might be sold on it.

No Escalation in the demo. Right now it's a 360 exclusive, only 2 of the 4 classes are available, 2 game modes (team deathmatch and control points) and 1 map. But they do have the persistent leveling and ability unlocks so you get a taste of how that mechanic works.

It's pretty cool I have to admit. Being able to transform with the hit of a button is tres kool. The graphics and sound are great. Only complaints: the on-screen HUD is a bit busy, distracting you from the action at times, and I wish they mapped the transform button to a different one. As it stands, it's currently the L3 button, which can cause you to accidentally transform when in hectic battles. But other than that it's quite solid.

You can swap the transform button in options. It puts transform on Y and change weapon to up on the d-pad.

So what does this game play like? Is it in any way similar to the last "good" Transformers game on the PS2?

That's what it looks like to me. This time with fun levels! (hope)

I didn't realize that there was a "good" Transformers game out there

If I had to compare it to anything (and this is just my opinion) I would have to say it plays like Gears of War.

The game that came out for the PS2 was widely considered to be "good."

Not great, but good.

It had something of a hub system, with relatively large open world mission areas.

Anyone getting this for the PC? I can't resist at 39$ but I want to know I will have people to play with.
