What classic game would you like to see remade?

Those who are looking for a remake of Masters of Magic should keep an eye on Slitherine''s Spartan. It''s not really a fantasy game, but influenced by MoM nonetheless.

I think the guys from DOAX Volleyball should remake Custer''s Revenge.

/obscure?

Yeah, or Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing!

System Shock on doom3 would be the greatest game ever conceived. It would be truly awe-inspiring.

Other games, hmm. Skyroads would be cool. Cyberstorm doesn''t really need a graphical update. Maybe a code update to get the game to run on XP without needing to go to 256 colours..

I''d say NetHack/Angband, or the other roguelikes.. but.. no. I thought about hacking Quake/2 to do it, but that would require realtime VIS and lighting, which would be .. costly.

Hmm let me see...

there was a hentai dating game called ""Happy Forever Lucky Good Joy and Happiness and Luck"" that could definately benefit from a full 3d contemporary upgrade.

How about Resident Evil 1 or 2 for PC, using Q3, Lithtech, or the Source engine?

Mavis, that dirty, dirty Hoe! lol

Lemmings!

I played that game on my Amiga so much that my eyes bled.

Or that other Amiga game where you flew around on a Magic Carpet and blasted enemy wizards.. I forget the name but it was a blast. I guess it was simply called ""Magic Carpet"" but that doesn''t feel right to me.. Damn senility anyway...

I believe that Lemmings are avialable in 3D for quite some time now.

I just wish that you didn''t have to make a custom machine/setup in order to play some old games... I''ve been itching to play Noctropolis again but I can''t since it won''t run under XP and when I was using Win98, it wouldn''t run even when booting into DOS when using the Sb16 emulator that came with the SbLive!

Maybe someone can make a DOS->DirectX emulator for these sorts of games

You can try DOSBOX, which does DOS->OpenGL (or is it SDL, I can never remember)...works for some games.

I think it''s already in development, but I would love a fresh and exciting remake of Sid Meiers Pirates. Ideally I envision a bit of what Sea Dogs II(Pirates of the Carribean) should have been like, with fleet management, and worthy groveling to the appropriate Monarchy.

Well, I''ve been looking around, and there are a hella lot of open sourced gaming engines out there, and not just those that powered Quake and Homeworld. Seems to me that some of these games constitute abandonware, so someone enterprising enough could update some of these titles relatively quickly (its not like you have to code the engine from scratch).....

Kid Icarus especially conjures pangs of Nostalgia, as I''ve recently been reliving it on my GBA SP with PocketNES.. how I cursed that 1-3! Still, I made it to 1-4, which finally rewarded me with the music I''d been humming for the past year and couldn''t remember where it came from.

Kid Icarus
Master of Magic
System Shock 2
Gemfire
Pirates!
Scarecrow

You''re right it is in developement. http://www.gamespot.com/pc/strategy/...

hmm I see they're making a new Warhawk, so now it's down to Jumping Flash, Cobra Command, Stun Runner, NiGHTS, and some version of the Sega games Space Harriers, Gunblade NY, Scud Racer, or Star Wars Trilogy for a console.

ANY console.

closest they had was the cancelled Space Harriers for Dreamcast.

now, where's the old Pac-Man game that shows his legs?

Also Fantasy General. I loved the turned base general series and thought Fantasy General was the best of the bunch.

Hell yeah! I LOVED Fantasy General, still do, actually. I listen to the soundtrack all the time. Fantastic game.

Add Panzer General. The replayability on that one was nuts. You would replay missions until you unlocked the bonus missions (invade Britian, Invade the US, etc.)

I would love to actually play this one. When it was out I had a Mac and they never ported it.

How about the SSI Mech Brigade or Kampengrupe games? I loved Mech Brigade.

Throw my name in for Crusader No Remorse/Regret, Fallout I or II, XCOM would be a blast if it were to be re-released.

Amen my brother! Amen! This title needs to come back. If need be, someone should grab Chris Taylor and lock him in their basement until the design of this one is complete. They could then release him into the madness that has become Gas Powered Games.

I burned way too many hours playing Pigpen in this one. Three to four hour marathon games beating each other up with Brawlers etc. Hell, it forced at least two system upgrades on my meager finances at the time. Great modding community back then so lots of custom maps and units.

Shadowrun

Oh hell yeah. I loved that game.

Bioforge

Neuromancer

X-Com: UFO Defense

Shining Force from the Sega Genesis

Redneck Rampage, of course!
And Wizardry + Bard's Tale.
Ooh, and Wizard's Crown! And Phantasie!

But most of all, M.U.L.E.

Duckilama = Old

Edit: Never mind - I'll read the rest of the tread next time.
Anyway - Wasteland would be cool. Hope they do Fallout 3 soon.

SPEEDBALL!!!

Oh, and M.U.L.E.

It's going to be interesting to see what Bethesda does with Fallout 3. I'd say it's a while from completion, though.

X-Com: UFO Defense

A 3D battlemap, a la Silent Storm, and finding a happy medium between X-COM Apocalypse and UFO Defense would make me the happiest man in the world. The only things i'd ask for is to stretch the game out a little. Perhaps give me the ability to have more men and bases around the world, five or six elite teams on average, with a few more weapons, aliens, and more time to rumble with the Mutons and Sectoids.

They are still in pre-production. Probably around 2007 at the earliest (in my opinion).

No one's yet pointed out the major Night of the Living Thread here? Over a year, and not by a site n00b.

Updated, internet Warlords. There's Airburst for the Mac, but they won't ever port it due to libraries. If any of you own Macs, check out the demo for Airbust, it's totally sweet old-school arcade fun.
