Name a Band / Song We Should Know About

You can listen to a song from Janelle Monae's upcoming album Archandroid. It features Of Montreal. I'll definitely be picking up this album to compliment my Metropolis vinyl.

I was liking the album fine, but it wasn't until this song popped up that I started loving it:

I don't really get the correlation, but okay-- Gaslight Anthem's pretty good too.

no correlation at all, just felt like contributing.

Christ almighty that performance was something else! Magnificent!

Delorean hails from Barcelona and their 2010 debt album sports electro-pop sensibilities.

I can't figure out if the vocals are inspired more by Erasure or Oasis, but either way they kick ass. The entire album has surprisingly strong continuity.

Follow-up single follows: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kfrvp...

From Barcelona we fly on to Ontario, Canada listening to Caribou.

Anybody like Band of Horses, but haven't got their new album, yet?

gimme a few then check your private messages. I got a free MP3 download with the vinyl.

If Tuffalo doesn't bite, I will But I'll be getting the album either way, so no worries.

I got it. Will be buying the vinyl too eventually.

Pomplamoose... they're an indie duo that does a lot of covers along with their original work, and both are pretty fantastic. They offer a lot of their covers for free download on their website as well.

other stuff from them that I <3:
If You Think You Need Some Lovin
I Don't Want to Miss a thing (Aerosmith cover)

Sounds quite nice and reminds me of some of Lamb's and Moloko's early stuff. Her voice also sounds a little like Roisin Murphy to me. Thanks for posting this.

^^^ That was...interesting.

Do you like The Twilight Sad? Have you heard their newest album? Do you want to? Its nowhere near as good as Band of Horses, but it ain't bad, either. (if you like Scottish accents) *consolation prize*

In the realm of bands that must be heard at least once: Van Canto.

(Cover of Wishmaster by Nightwish.)

(Cover of Fear of the Dark by Iron Maiden.)

This thread delivers, by the way. Just picked up Monáe's Metropolis and The ArchAndroid from iTunes. Awesome stuff.

Never heard of them, but I'll give it a try

Loving this thread.

Holy f*ck
"Red Lights" from the new album "Latin"

These guys are touring and put on a great show; for those who like smart, get-the-ladies-dancing, experimental, electro-gadgetry goodness.

I'd just like to point out that the long awaited Deluxe Remaster of The Cure's seminal album Disintegration is now available on iTunes for 12.99$

You get over 40 tracks: the 12 original songs remastered, 20 demos and unreleased tracks from the time they were working on this album and a Live rendition of the album played in 1989 in the order the songs appear on the CD. BTW this album will sell for close to 30$ on shelves when it's released on CD format the 8th of June.

And for the posterity, here's the album intro.

HUGE fan of Pomplamoose. In fact, I think someone here might have been the person to turn me on to it.

Crystal Castes released a new album, not sure what I think yet. But I still really like their first one.

Sleigh Bells is something new and I would greatly recommend (if someone hasn't already)

Didn't know who they were but it did remind me of Horse the band:

The music is rather catchy and good, but the VIDEO makes it for me. So well done! It's a great combination of cheese factor and professionalism.

Probably a band well known, but I started listening to the Editors a few days ago and am really in love with this band. Sadly no money to order a CD right now, but YouTube is a godsend in that regard.

And while we're at it, M83 has a lot of good, melancholic stuff too.

Another great way to listen to music is grooveshark. Just type the band and pick the songs you want in a playlist and away you go.
