Fallout: New Vegas - Fall 2010

I think they threw the gauss weapons in there specifically to make Small Guns competitive late-game... something with which energy weapons have no trouble, gauss weapons or no.

Has anyone played the Fallout 2 Restoration Project? It kept crashing on my old computer and I'm interested to see what the guy has done.

Have you tried a virtual machine? Virtual PC 2007 is free and works well.

I'm pretty sure it will work on my new laptop. I'm more interested if the content is worth playing through again.

I was more referring to previous Fallout games. I never got to the end of Fallout 3. I will one day. I was going under the assumption that like the previous games small guns kind of loses its luster.

Well even in Fallout 2, I would use the Bridgekeeper's robe and the H&K P90c. On Full burst, that thing ripped deathclaws, centaurs and even super mutants to shreds.

Ah, fun times

I can't figure out what the acronym you have here: Light Amplification Zapped by Enough Radiation?

If that's an over under shotgun it's pretty cool.

Lazers are like lasers but more extreme. Like a laser that drinks an energy drink and does a handstand on the handlebars of his quad as it goes off a ramp made of electric guitars.

Oh man. Somebody please draw that. I would buy three of it on a t-shirt (with a moon).

Hmmm... apparently I was thinking of the Wazer Wifle and Laser Rifle and combined the two. Hate it when that happens.

Yeah, that must've been it.

Interesting to note that GAME (a local retailer here in Oz) is offering a pre-order bonus of this:

Personally I don't really see the point. With all the mods and so forth, I'm sure these "exclusive" items will become available within a day. That being said, I'm going for the PC version, so this may appeal to the console users. Still, leather armour and a shotgun? Really? That's like basic equipment for fallout. At least offer some awesome Laser Rifle or something.

Not me. And I concur, Lazer > Laser.

Lazer eyes > all.

Edit: Does it bother anyone else that you can't put images within spoiler tags on these boards? I like to do that sometimes on other boards when I simply must share something awesome (such as Lazer Eyes) but don't want to spam up the thread for those as don't care.

Have obsidian/bethesda confirmed FO:NV will have an editor? Given the FO3 editor/tools available, I wouldn't put it past the 3rd parties to make their own if an official one wasn't released.

You can always post a link then.

It would be nice to have the dropdown box type thing-a-dohickey that some other forums have. Click, and bam! there it is.

Saves space, but keeps it all in the family.

It looks like it's using the same game engine and I haven't heard it's doing anything that people haven't already modded into FO3. It'd be kind of weird if they didn't just patch the editor unless there's something major I've missed.

Some actual in game footage from IGN can be found here.

Looks promising.

Any chance of saved games crossing over? I figure it's unlikely, but I had to ask. If not I'll be getting it for the PC at launch, if they magically do it's back to the 360 for a couple hundred hours.

Probably not. It's a different character and different story on the opposite side of the continent.

Also known as "Phoning in your publisher-mandated pre-order bonus."

Should've gone with horse armor.

I'm a little concerned that Alpha Protocol has received rather lackluster reviews. Since Obsidian's doing both of them I truly hope they haven't lost their ju-ju.

Yea, that has me a little worried too. But from what I can tell, they have different people working on them. Besides, all they have to do is add content. The engine and framework is already in place. They just need to tweak it and add a new story and it should (hopefully) be good.

Is it wrong for me to hope they improve on the animations? If not, is the hope doomed to be dashed?

Did they ever have any ju-ju?

Ok, trawling over.

I have high hopes for Fallout New Vegas but it's sticking in the wait for reviews to see whether or not its super awesome file. As others have said, a lot of the gameplay additions have been done on PC mods and Obsidian doesn't have a great track record of taking other people's engines and completing games with them, like Knights of the Old Republic 2.

It seems like they are pretty ambitious with things like faction reputation etc, but whether it comes together is yet to see. On the other hand, they did a good job in Fallout 2 with separate town stories with a decent over-arching story. With a focus on many small stories, if some are incomplete, it shouldn't ruin the others. I think the problem with KOTOR 2 was that a lot of these "side stories" tied into the main story and left a lot of questions. Fallout 3 didn't have much of a main story, so focusing on little stories should work well I think.

I think they've hit the limits of what Gamebryo can do tbh. Don't hold your breath.

Well check out what the guys have done with EVE for Fallout 3. They have some awesome death animations. I don't think they are at the limits yet... much more can still be done!

I just want them to fix the damn vending interface!!

For godsake! Can no one implement the inventory system (with tabs) in the vendor screen? Scrolling through a huge, long list only to find out as soon as you've exited the conversation that you've missed that powerfist.... URHG!! It's very annoying and poorly implemented when a good implementation is right there in the game!!!

Sorry to tell you Duoae... but there ARE tabs in fallout 3's vending interface, the < > to either side to the words at the top of the interface. Took me over 6 months before I stumbled upon that little snippet.

6 months? Wait, how could you miss it for that long? Wait, Duoae, how could you still miss it? Guys, it's right there!!!!
