Wait a second... no Cortexefan trials in the other universe... so how the hell did they get back with the Alternate Olivia? Olivia was the key to opening the dooryway and the only reason I didn't resuspect that the switch had happened (when Bell woke up I assumed it was the alternate version) too much before the reveal.

Now that is a very good question. Plot hole? Hmm..

Unless William Bell injected himself with some, which would explain how he got there.

Yeah, but they heavily stressed needing Olivia to open the crack.

According to io9, DC will soon be releasing all the alternate covers they did for the episode.

I liked the picture of an old JFK on Walternate's desk. Still President? No term limits on the other side?

When Olivia first crossed over, she saw a news article indicating that Obama was president in the alternate reality, though it's possible that JFK wasn't assassinated (other events seem different prior to Peter getting abducted, such as the Lindbergh baby never getting kidnapped). I was definitely getting a Watchmen vibe from how things are in that reality.

Just went back and noticed Walternate shaking hands with Obama next to the JFK picture.

My wife and I were asking this question as well.

Also, Alternate Olivia really kicked the sh*t out of Olivia until the lamp came into play.

Wonder what the deal is with the tattoos.

The alternate comic covers are up.

I was confused too, however weren't they talking about using a crack she already opened and using the door jam to keep it opened while they went through?

My question is what did Bell mean when he was talking to Peter. "Your holding up better than i thought." "Whats a little universe hopping between friends?" "Thats not what i meant." Peter gives him this questioning look and then they move on...is there something MORE about Peter??

Well there is the whole, finding out there are multiple dimension, that you were kidnapped by a man that isn't quite your father, meanwhile your real father is planning on using you to destroy another universe. Oh and by the way your mother who commited suicide, is just fine and dandy.

I think the 'holding up better than I thought' is a reference to the whole atoms becoming destabilized when one travels from one universe to the other. They demonstrated it with the coffee cup last week vaporizing when tapped with a pointer and Bell referenced it again last night with the "I've gone back and forth so many times I'm ready to derez" line. Also, all the other team member died within a few hours of travelling to the alterverse, so I think that Peter is also some sort of exception when it comes to maintaining his atomic stability when passing back and forth.

As for Olivianate not having the cortexefan powers, my take is that in the alterverse, the effects of Walter kidnapping Peter were visibly more damaging, and as Bell explained created lots of cracks. They also straight out said that they would need more power than Olivia could generate and Bell said "every particle of my body is the equivalent of an atom bomb" so I think his sacrifice more than made up for the lack of Olivanate's abilities.

To all of you: Pay attention!

Holla got it close. The crack was them coming over in the opera house. Olivia couldn't have reopened it on her own. So they fixed up that device to prop the door open.

And William was the power source for the device. His sacrifice opened the door. Nothing needed to be done by Olivia. The device + William was enough to reopen the crack for them to get back.

As to the other discussion, yet the comic covers were awesome. I saw the Red Arrow/Lantern ones last night but forgot to mention them. Very cool.

Fringe: Tales From The Fringe 6-issue miniseries comic book

I'll have to go back and watch again to be certain, but I believe they were using the future tense when refering to Olvia opening the doorway again.

Last year's six book miniseries came out as a trade paperback in November. I wouldn't be surprised to see it again come holiday season. But I may not be able to wait, as I am looking for some Fringe stories to get me through the summer.

Issues look to peer back at some of the character origins, at least #3 seems that way as it regards Astrid.

Man, I can't wait til the new season.

The last image of the finale left us with Olivia curled up in the corner and frightened to death, almost in the same exact way she was in the video as a child.

It's most definitely going to induce/develop her powers, which have been known to evolve when she's confronted by fear/love (when she was frightened to death as a child, when she was staring straight into a giant bomb, and when she couldn't find that building or whatever and also almost smooched Peter). And now, there's definitely both a boatload of fear (the isolation room) AND love (Peettter) pressuring the crap out of Olivia.

My question is, is Olivia's current predicament something that Walternate is knowingly placing on Olivia, or is it something that's gonna come back to bite Walternate in the ass in the new season?

Btw, I am gonna call that Nina Sharp is totally gonna turn out to be like Walternate in that she'll have the same ruthless philosophy of 'if it's not us, it's gotta be them.'

Lastly, I really, REAALLY, hope they don't pull a 'xx years later' horsecrap for the return of the 3rd season.

Edit: Wow, uber-Tannhausered. Anywho, this was in response to Nosferatu.

I'm reasonably sure there's no plot hole.

Spoiler:

They discussed it happening the other way around early in the episode, but when the sequence happened, the "doorstop" device opened the crack, and it was Bell, not Olivia, who powered them through.

I bet they are going to use Olivia's sister and niece to soften alt-Olivia. In the end alt-Olivia will realize the team from the other universe is not so bad at all and will find out that she was being manipulated by Walternate. She will help the team somehow and sacrifice herself "to right some wrongs". You read it here first!

It was the device that opened that already existing crack, and that device was powered by Bell, not Olivia, so they didnt need her to cross back. That`s why they went back to the old theatre.

edit: man, this thread is too rapid for my pace.

Happy FRINGE d... Oh, snap...

At least I'll have Supernatural to get me thr... aw, sh*t.

I hate summer.

Are any of those USA cable summer shows watchable? A friend said Burn Notice was cool. Wondering if I should bother with any of them?

Burn Notice starts up next week - and it is a great show. Also, Leverage starts up on the 20th

But they are not FRINGE...

Burn Notice is fun, as are Leverage and White Collar.

And Justified is still going!

i enjoy the show "Warehouse 13" not as serious as Fringe...but it does give me my sci fi fix.... second season starts July 6th!

Eureka will be starting up shortly too.

Just saw this interview, had some good stuff and some hints at what the next season holds! Especially in the second video!!

Great stuff. It might be a bit spoileriffic for some folks.

Spoiler:

It's interesting to think about Olivia meeting her alt-mom. You have to wonder what the context will be for that.

And I have to agree with them that if they can achieve that balance, which I thought they did to some degree last season, it's going to make for a hell of a season.

I think the biggest thing that concerns me for the next season is whether the monster of the week episodes are plausible anymore. Having gone to the other side, I'm thinking a shift in how they approach all of it will be inevitable.

Still, can't wait for the premiere

Well, if the goal is to start viewing the other side without prejudice, one great way is for Folivia to work some cases, and become part of the team. I think it would allow the audience to view her as an independent character with legitimate needs and desires. I think it will be a challenge, but it is encouraging to see that the writers are being proactive in this area.
