Welcome to Gamers With Jobs Radio for the week of October 24th, 2005. This Week, Segment One takes over the show as Fletcher and Certis discuss the dizzying deluge of delightful diversions which have descended upon their domiciles. Certis in one corner, with his breathtaking array of new release titles. Fletcher in the other with his musty, old collection of the titles from yestermonth. Together the duo tackle The Warriors, Shadow of the Colossus, F.E.A.R., Quake 4, Fire Emblem, Thief: Deadly Shadows, Arx Fatalis and Jet Set Radio Future. Enjoy!

UPDATE!: Watch this space on Tuesday, November 1st for a GWJ Radio Special Bulletin in honor of the Gamers With Jobs Donation Drive! The next full, brand-new episode of GWJ Radio will be released on November 8th. Stay tuned!

You said finger-butt.

Heh.

Awesome.

Once again great show...!

Corn Pops -> mouth shredding. The Man speak truth. (Also bad is Captain Crunch; those f*****s are sharp...)

Awesome show, as usual. Is Sanjuro ever coming back? (Not that Certis is bad - maybe a threeway?)

I know that perhaps its an unwelcome thing to say, but I think the quality of the show is beginning to slip.

Coming from a guy who didn't like Serenity, I'd take that as a compliment. (tongue in cheek)

Sword...in his pooper...genius.

Awesome show, as usual. Is Sanjuro ever coming back? (Not that Certis is bad - maybe a threeway?)

I hope so! Last I heard his motherboard died so he hasn't been on the site too much, he's working on getting it replaced.

Praying to the all powerful spaghetti monster isn't going to replace his motherboard though. I hope he thought that through.

It was pointed out to me that my comment on the quality of the latest expressly doesn't provide any details as to be high-handedly unconstructive. Feeling pressed to elaborate, I shall.

I never tried to produce anything similar to that show, but I get a general understanding of energies and time commitments involved. Generally, Fletcher and lately Certis are doing it on their own personal time to amuse us. Admittedly, they also must have a whale of time doing it, but still, is is us the audience who stands to gain from the fruit of their labor in terms of net results. Thus, it would seem that indicating any sign of displeasure amounts to spitting into a well from whence you drink.

So why am I doing it? Because I do believe that Episode 4 (second from last), the first one recorded by Fletch and Certis, was far superior to this.

(Can I say it in this terms? Episode 4 is better than Episode 5 and 6? NOT Episode 6 is worse than 4? Is it bening and constructive enough? Great, thanks. So onwards.)

From Episode 5 to Episode 6 progressively, I there is more filling and yet less taste. The discussions skim on the subjects for awhile and slide comfortably into towel slapping and Fletch and Certis havin' good ol' time. At times it sounded like a chatter at a local Gamestop. Which, granted, it is supposed to sound like, but I am not sure that this is the level at which this sophisticated show aims. Maybe hilarities about awesome fingerbutts and homo beatings strategically sprinkled here and there is indeed what it is all about, but then why would it take so much effort to produce it? I do understand that it may be not so trivial a task to come up with new witty sh*t every week, but at least it would help if the guys stayed on the ball and discussed games more. Not, indeed, as if there wasn't anything to discuss this week.

The recorded attempts in the middle and towards the end of the show to come up with something original made it feel way too much like DuckiDeva's "I don't know what to write about" column from awhile ago. Need this has been recorded?

I kind of eagerly waited for Fletch's "the audio-extension of the GWJ.com, home of the original wiener bomb" kinda punchline or what have you, sort of the way you smile and wait what will be opening scene in a The Simpsons episode, when the opening credits finish and they all sit down in front of a TV. And today, just like in Episode 5, Fletcher so betrayed me!!!

Thanks for the comments, Rilla. Perhaps I'll be able to win back your trust some day. Some day ...

Anyway, your autographed (by interns) photograph of Certis is in the mail.

I think that employee profiles should be combined with radio shows. It could be a three-way discussion between 'the presenters' and 'the employee'. In the front page piece (here) we'd get the standard employee profile questions, then in the radio show the three people would talk as normal.

That way if it's boring you can blame the guest.

I liked this episode; I found it more engaging than last week's. Plus, the sword ---> butt thing was pretty darn funny. Good job guys.

This is true. His buddy is currently tooling around with his rig, trying to get it up and running. Also, it looks like we might get kicked out of our apartment and his finals are coming up before too long. I wouldn't expect Sanjuro to make a huge impact on the site for atleast another month or two, until he gets settled.

Is there any way we could louden up certis? I listen at work and have to up the volume to hear him and all is good.. Then fletcher starts laughing and the windows rattle.

The sound thing is something we're working on, Fletcher said something about Phantom Power but I think he's making stuff up to sound mysterious and smart.

Actually I think I've been going about this the wrong way. I'm asking myself "What Would Certis Do?" The answer: find someone else to do the work. Volunteers?

I thought you guys did a decent job. Keep 'em coming!

Couldn't find thief 3 in a single damned store... Wah.. I don't wanna buy it off the damned internets. Daaamn.

I actually thought this week's episode was easily the best as far as volume balance between the two people speaking.

But I listened to it in headphones so there's a good chance the volume difference didn't matter as much for me.

Honestly? I don't really hear much difference in sound between the TWITcast and GWJcast.

Another great show. I really love listening to these shows at work through my headphones, although every now and then I let out such a chuckle that people have asked what I'm listening to. I usually just say "Weiner Bomb" and they leave me alone. It takes me a day or two to get through a show with all the interruptions...damn work always gets in the way of my fun.

I definitely want to pick up Thief:Deadly Shadows and Shadow of the Colossus. But I'm staying away from the Corn Pops, who knew something so round and smooth could be so dangerous?

Why is it in slow motion when I use my mp3 player?

That's just Certis.

Why is it in slow motion when I use my mp3 player?

I've encountered that with some other podcasts in the past, not sure why that happens to be honest. I'll do some digging.

Listening to it now and on my system Certis' volume is much lower than fletcher's. Not too bad, but to hear Certis better Fletch and the music get little too loud. Just a little.

Hey, good show and did I hear some new Podunk material in there? Good stuff.

Got to run now, my oil derrick is spewing black gold all over my cows again. Yeeehaw!

Tell him to hire cheap Chinese laborers.

At this point, just the main theme is mine. I keep promising Fletch more material...maybe at some point I'll actually have the time to deliver on that.

It's a pretty versatile theme though. I use parts of it throughout the show.

Is it any wonder that Podunk wrote the theme as:

Bom bom bom ba dun, bom bom bom ba da da dun

It's awesome!
