Frozen Synapse "The Ultimate Tactical Game" from Mode 7

So who here is participating in the beta? We need a list so we can issue challenges.

I'm on as Certis although the computer is absolutely slaughtering me so far.

tals in game. Always up for a challenge

I'm drdoak in there, but I keep forgetting to take my turns. I'm a bad get-shot-guy.

$26 is too steep for me to make an impulse buy, but $13 is not. If someone wants to split the pre-order and the free copy with me let me know.

Just picked it up yesterday, since it scratches a persistent itch. Still learning the nuances via ai matches, but feel free to match up.

I bought this! Totally sweet, but I'm pretty incompetent at it.

I'm grobstein on there.

I picked it up too - I sent an email asking for the mac client and they sent me a download link immediately

I'm lactose in the game if anyone wants to play - still going through the tutorial so I'll need some time

The latest episode of Three Moves Ahead, which features our own Julian "rabbit" Murdoch, focuses on Frozen Synapse:

I'm going to pick this one up probably tomorrow.

Colour me interested

Great show! Glad I could break the story.

And I bought it... Such a interesting game

Using this as a subscription method to this thread. I'm definitely interested in knowing more about this game, as soon as I have the time.

Just picked up the game. Haven't played it yet but it looks exactly like the kind of game I have always wanted. I spent more time in Rainbow Six setting up mission plans and having the AI run it without me than actually playing the game.

I was just going to post that! It was apparently enough to push me over the edge of just considering it.
I like it so far (I've just played the tutorial and a random skirmish).
It feels new and different. It's about time we've a wego type game, the only other one I've played (or seen for that matter) was Combat Mission.

Should I feel bad about this? A discount on the beta that I paid full price for? The main reason I bought into the game was to give them some funding up front to help insure it gets completed--a bit of a leap of faith I'm not normally one to take. I was under the impression that the pre-order beta offer was already a discount on the finished game.

Ultimately, I guess it's Mode 7's prerogative, but I think it's unusual since the game is a beta and has only been out a short time. Anyone else have mixed (or unmixed) feelings about this?

I believe this is some sort of a joke or somehow related to something happening with the elections in UK. Don't really know and it's a 24h offer. Don't feel bad. Get one of your buddies to buy it too while it's a bit cheaper

I'm up for splitting a set of keys with someone. With the 20% off the evening, that makes it, I believe $20.80 USD total.

Anyone looking to go in for US$11 ? sold, my 2nd key is taken.

I jumped on the discount too even though I don't know what I just bought. Waiting for word back from my brother, but I may have a spare key if he passes.

D-man, I'm kind of mixed about it too. It's one thing to do this kind of discount shortly after the release of a title, but to do it three weeks after the opening of pre-orders is kind of strange. Basically, you're screwing your core audience who's aware enough of the game to give you money for it as soon as possible.

I split the cost with someone too, so I'm not going to write them to complain, but I definitely won't be pre-ordering their next game at full price. Not the best thing to be doing right out of the gate with a new title.

I bought it too but the Windows version won't start on my iMac (XP on Bootcamp) because I only have OpenGL 1.1 and 2/3 is required. I emailed to get a copy of the Mac beta and got a response that somebody would help me tomorrow.

If anybody's interesting in joining in on another Election Day split ($10), shoot me a PM.

(PM received.)

I'm interested in going in with someone to buy this. If anyone is interested send me a message.

I don't know why, but "isomorphic" is like nails on a chalkboard for me. If only Certis had been there to mock rabbit for not knowing what an isometric perspective is called.

Anyone else got a second key from the sale?

I think the sale just ended, since it's 2:17 London Time, and I can't find a spot to put in the coupon code.

Tkyl and I played a couple of games last night and while it was fun, it's got a couple things they can improve on.

I fell that they need a timer for each turn or something that says your opponent submitted his move. If Tkyl and I weren't on vent, then I wouldn't know if he went afk or not. If they wanted to make it that way then this should have been a browser based play by email type.

After getting through the tutorial and getting some games in, it starts to really get fun. The interface and command list is a little intimidating but once I got the hang of it, I enjoyed it. I still don't fully grasp the game but I do want to play it more.

The game is actually a play by email game. They just hide that behind the fancy interface. That is why there is not chat window besides the game's IIRC channel. That is why it is constantly asking you to play with some other dude, because you can have multiple games going on.

It works, but it is very unclear to the end user.

There is a chat option now and while in the game it shows where the other user is - offline, in other game or main menu.
I'm liquid in the game, very new to this so keep that in mind if you want to play some games.

I don't see why this isn't browser based though. It screams for it. They can also reach a wider audience if it was.

It's not like the graphics are so demanding because it's simple and very stylized.
