Heh, a guy just sent cash and tech to D-Pad and I saying we're the last hope to resist red and purple. Too bad we'll use that stuff to fight each other

Nice! I'm in as...wait for it...hubbinsd.

I'm enjoying my other game so far. It is a great combination of the old school BBS Risk-type games and Diplomacy.

the game is afoot. well, almost.

Against my better judgement, I'm in...

One spot left.

And with my entry... No spots left.

Good luck all!

This will be epic.

Does anyone have objections if I write a little something about our game for the forums? I thought about 3-7 days delay, so it will still allow for heavy scheming.

Edit:
"We just received news about the fan, lord Gage!"
"What? What fan? What are you talking about, boy?"
"It has been hit by feces, my lord."

Teal didn't stop at Ras Alhague as I had hoped. He's targeting Baten Kaitos and even if I would get two ships produced there, his five ship fleet will take it. I immediately turned around my other fleet to meet him, but I won't reach the star before him, so he will be defending with two ships, which will reduce my five ship fleet to also two ships, before I will be able to defeat him. I think Sadalsuud is save for the next 24h, since his second fleet is going for Altair first. Which means he'll meet at least two ships when he gets to Sadalsuud.
In the west yellow popped up as my fleet on Ascella was sent off towards Botein. The fact, that both of them are expanding in my direction first although every other player surrounding them is inactive leaves a bad taste in my mouth. I think my realm will face a two front war soon and I better get to fortifying my border stars and researching the weapons upgrade with todays budget.

Crap I missed the game! Don't suppose there will be another GWJ game starting soon huh?

I have a bunch of credits. When the GWJ Beatdown game is finished, I will probably start up another free game. May be a few weeks though. I think there are three GWJ games going right now, One with 8 players, one with 10 and one with 12.

Little note to people looking forward to playing arranged games with Goodjers or friends:
As long as you haven't bought any credits, you can only join TWO free games at a time. The games people can create for 50 credits, that don't cost other people any credits to join, count as free games. So don't go jumping into more than one free game. Otherwise you'll have to get another Google account and switch between them, if you want to keep playing on both of them: That will turn you into a nerve wreck one or two weeks into the games if two games get messy at the same time.

I logged in the other night and found that the few credits I had earned were gone and there was no record of my playing any games... have you checked recently to make sure your credits are still there?

Holy crap!

Log onto the GWJ game and find fully half my systems gone. That's wild.

At least I'm doing well in the other two games.

I would like to write further updates about my free game since things are looking good right now. But then again I am in the 12 player Goodjer game and way to paranoid about people reverse engineering my brain.

*sigh* Sometimes you can tell I've been reading the Something Awful forums for too long.

I think this sort of game just cultivates that level of paranoia. I had that a lot when doing a lot of the play-by-email Diplomacy back in the day. There we were actually anonymous so that we didn't *really* know who was playing France, those bastards. It would eventually be fun to run a Goodjer NP game where we agree to create new aliases and not share them until the end.

I'm definitely in for that, although I do like how, regardless of relationships, the randomizing of starting points forces people into a relationship, regardless of if they hate each other, love each other or never met.

You should submit that as an idea to the developers of NP. Just make it a triggerable option for arranged games and implement a decent name generator. Something like "[adjective] [creature] of [catchy abstract word]". Would result in stuff like "illiterate kitten of glutony" or "empathic seacow of demise". People already take the game with a dash of irony when speaking about themselves based on the character picture. A little more hilarity in the advent of friends betraying each other couldn't hurt.

:'(

Everyone wants a piece of me....

Bring it, Female Doggoes.

By the way -- I want to thank IUMogg for setting up these games, and apologize to him for his downfall (largely) at my hands in the first game...

Agreed, thanks to IUMogg, although someone annihilating the host is a little rude.

Next time, try not to taste like BACON.

Oh I just took back what was once mine... with a little interest.

You I don't blame, I totally asked for it. It's the others who decided that my rump looked ripe for smoking that hurt my feelings.

Anyway, going down in a blaze of glory.

I concur.

I told you firesloth was getting too big for his britches! Of course then I attacked you.

At least I got to play cat and mouse with firesloth for a day or two. That was fun.

I want too make it clear I'm perfectly fine with a third place finish...If any nation in the region wants a partner who just wants too survive and learn to the game, I'm more then willing to negotiate an alliance.

I really did not have the intention of attacking you when you asked. It was only later that you got so plump, juicy, and tempting. And you did do a great job of keeping me busy for quite awhile. No I've got to deal with the 'too big not to fail' syndrome that the remaining folks seem to have caught.

Well I guess the honeymoon is over as I see firesloth decided to finally break our alliance by turning his ships on me.

That's what I get for moving ships off our mutual border this late in the game to try and oust MrDevil from his new summer home on my former planet of Al Giedi (amongst other places in my territory of late).

Sorry!! You couldn't see the 1000+ ships aligned on my eastern and northeastern borders. I figured the only way I could avoid being crushed by them was to take the systems I needed as quickly as possible. Latrine is bouncing around like a pinball amongst my inner planets. I'm just really chasing him and my tail as he destroys my economy.

So, I guess the point is that with the end in sight, I'd do what I had to do... We'll see. It's still going to be a near run thing.

EDIT: You're also one of a distinguished line of folks I've taken systems from as this fight winds down (hopefully).

Tried to log on to see my suicide horde laying waste to SaintFaucet's systems and I see the game is over.

Gratz firesloth

Nice game, folks. That was great fun. Now I'm looking forward to getting stomped in the other Goodjer game.

I definitely liked that this one was on a faster time scale.
