Fringe: Why It's One of Our Favorite Shows

Fringe has gone from being a guilty pleasure to a legitimately awesome series over the course of its first two seasons and into its third, and we don't think enough people are talking about that. If you're one of the many still in the dark about this fantastic show, these are the reasons you should try giving it a shot now.

Last night's episode was magnificent!

Also, do you have a link to a larger version of the awesome pic you posted? I'm using a cropped version of the following for my current desktop wallpaper.

This weeks episode was just amazing. I this show doesn't get a season 3 I will cry myself to sleep for a month...

I agree. This was my secret guilty pleasure. Now that the plot has gone from a MoTW series into a really good plotline, its become a must see for me. Reminds me.. Tivo is calling!

I just started watching this, I'm a few episodes into the first season. It all seems pretty far fetched and cheesy. Does it continue on like that, or at least come to terms with it's unbelievability in a way that's satisfying?

Part man
Part machine
ALL COP

The first season starts out weak and gets better. The second season starts out awesome and gets awesomer.

Season one gets better as it goes along, for sure. Season two has really knocked it out of the park. It is well worth investing the time into the show.

edit - went to tuck in the wife and got beaten to the punch!

Fox has already ordered 22 episodes for season three.

No, I just used one that I found. It is pretty cool, though.

Finally watched the last episode on Hulu and...aside from Walter's plea to Robocop and ultimately what happened to Robocop, I wasn't really feeling it. Like too many serialized science fiction shows these days, this week's Fringe only gave you a few crumbs to follow along between last week's episode and whatever happens next.

You, sir, just made my day. No, week. Thank you!

On a side note- Anna Torv is branching out. Anyone watching "The Pacific" on HBO?

Just picked up the first season at our local FamVid. Much like Lost, I missed some key episodes, so I'll be starting over.

Just for clarification, here is the press release.

“FRINGE tapped into a deep creative mine this year that built momentum throughout the season and helped give us our first real foothold on TV’s most competitive night,” said Kevin Reilly, President, Entertainment for Fox Broadcasting Company. “The entire FRINGE team – from the producers and writers to the cast and crew – has taken smart storytelling and top production quality to a whole new level. The rest of this season is mind-blowing, and we can’t wait to get started on the third installment of this amazing journey.”

Not only is Fringe coming back, but it is enthusiastically supported by the network.

This season, FRINGE improved FOX’s performance in the time period (Thursdays, 9:00-10:00 PM) by 11% among Adults 18-49 and by 33% in Total Viewers. In fact, together with its BONES lead-in, FRINGE helped boost FOX’s Thursday average rating during the fall among Adults 18-49 by 52%.

They will have to really screw this up for it not get even more seasons. As a fan of Millennium, I understand just how easily a third season can tank a show, though. But I feel pretty confident that Fringe is going to be a long time keeper, as long as the key actors want to remain a part of the show.

I caught that. Took me a few minutes of doing the "How do I know this actress?" game.

Yep, and I don't even really watch that mini-series. Figured out who it was before they got on the freight elevator. Was kind of glad to see her playing someone that has a little more fire to their character. Agent Dunham is just so bland to me.

Happy Fringeday everyone!

I think after tonight's episode we can understand why Walter's acting so whacky in the next one.

Spoiler:

Putting the "I know where I am from" clip in the preview for this episode last week is my only issue. It would have been much better not knowing that going in, because by the last scene, you totally know it's coming.

I'm subscribing to this thread. I'll be back with thoughts on last night's episode once I've watched it.

Haven't watched last nights episode, but last weeks episode was absolutely amazing. The ending was just perfect.

Although, I have to ask -

Spoiler:

why the drawing of the tulip?

Spoiler:

He did that to give Walter 'forgiveness' for what he did as if from god. It's explained before hand what it means when Walter and Robocop are talking and Walter mentions a sign from god "like a white tulip"

Speculation related to the end of this weeks episode:

Spoiler:

Does anybody think that this "secretary" character is alternate universe Walter. It kind of looked like him in the gas mask thing at the end.

I absolutely think that:

Spoiler:

It's why the dying shapechanger's last words were "I'm sorry" to Walter.

Teaser pics for next weeks episode.

Yep. I've actually been thinking that for a few weeks.

Haven't seen last night's episode yet, but loved last week's.

Sidenote: I just saw Leonard Nemoy in Vulcan (Alberta). He's in Calgary this weekend for a convention, and just took a side trip here to unveil a bronze bust of Spock, in celebration of Vulcan being named "Star Trek Capitol of Canada".

It was pretty cool.
