NFL 2010 Draft + Offseason Thread (also, humiliation!)

McClain? Really?

Really?

I was more shocked that it wasn't Pierre-Paul or Campbell. McClain is a decent pick.

Did Faulk just say Al Green? hahahaa

McClain is a good pick. A better pick at around 10-15 but he's no DHB.

Bills take Spiller. That's a surprise.

Holy crap. I don't think anyone saw Spiller going to Buffalo. Looks like another year of mediocrity in upstate NY (or Toronto).

I did hear Spiller mentioned for the Bills leading up to the draft, but most talk was about offensive line and QB. Clearly Clausen isn't impressing people.

Spiller is an idiotic pick. YOU HAVE NO OFFENSIVE LINE. Fred Jackson and Marshawn Lynch are absolutely serviceable. SHouldn't you want to be able to block somebody?

Alualu? Reach?

From PFT's Twitter:

When did Al Davis buy the Jaguars?

First trade! SF making some moves, though I'm not really sure what for yet... who do they want that they don't want DEN or MIA to snipe ahead of them?

I made the exact same joke over at Football Outsiders, somebody is stealing my stuff.

I think so. Alualu seems like a high 2nd round talent, sort of like Ron Brace last year.

But I don't think that's as bad as what San Francisco just did. Trading up for Anthony Davis?

Davis? You've got to be kidding me! Is Singeltary having delusions of coaching grandeur? He seems like Andre Smith Redux.

That is, as a Hawks fan, great move by SF!

Only if the Dolphins wanted him at 12.

So far I'm looking forward most to Legion's take on the Jaqs pick.

Only if the Dolphins wanted him at 12.

But then you can get Bulaga at 13, probably a better RT or LG... I'm going with Singeltary believing he has extreme coaching skillz.

Now SD moving up to take Williams or even Bulaga is a great move, assuming they don't have to give up too much.

Why does anyone other than Mayock talk?

Wow. Mathews.

Holy crap. The Chargers gave up a 2nd and 4th.

Serviceable? They are the best 1-2 combo that has NO LINE. Look at Jackson's yardage and ff points last year. He held them down. Bills are loosing my ability to think of them as plucky Northerners and quickly becoming the canadian raiders.

Matthews? Wow. Just wow. The CA teams are making the draft interesting, at least. And a 2 and a 4?

Looks like the Eagles are moving on up. Thomas?

I didn't say it was a good pick, just that the Niners might have feared he'd be gone (for whatever reason they wanted him) and made the move.

So any SD fans out there have any idea what the Chargers are going to be doing at NT? Switch to 4-3, perhaps?

Alualu is a good player. He's one of those high motor, super hard working guys that plays beyond his apparent physical talent.

Do you take that guy at #10? Man, I don't know. After the awesome pick of Terrance Knighton last year, though, I hesitate to bash the pick. Terrance Knighton was by far the best DT taken last draft, and it was in round 3 from Temple.

The Broncos are cleaning up in this draft. McDaniels is redeeming himself a bit.

It'd be hard to do that with the linebackers they have.

Graham at 13? What does Andy Reid see that I'm not seeing? Don't they already have almost the exact same player in Daryl Tapp?

I think it's an excellent pick.

Graham is one of the best pass rushers in the draft. But he is too small for most 4-3 teams, and he would be a conversion project for 3-4 teams.

The Eagles, however, make their living on undersized pass rushing DEs. It's what they use in their scheme. Graham fits like a glove.

As I edited in later, though, they already have Daryl Tapp. He seems like the exact same player.

SEA on the clock. I would LOVE to see Bulaga here. Walter Jones + Hutchinson reloaded.

I think it's an excellent pick.

Graham is probably the best pure pass rusher in the draft. But he is too small for most 4-3 teams, and he would be a conversion project for 3-4 teams.

The Eagles, however, make their living on undersized pass rushing DEs. It's what they use in their scheme. Graham fits like a glove. His size won't be a problem and he won't have to drop and cover like he would as a 3-4 'backer.

#10 is what I don't get. I think they clearly could've traded down and still gotten their man.
