Red Dead Redemption Catch-all

It doesn't count unless you present the clip in a convenient YouTube video embedded in your post.

So there.

(Insane video, btw...and I'm not even much of an online gamer.)

Ha, finally beat you on the draw Aaron!
Multiplayer video.

Another very interesting video. Damn I wish this was on PC. I don't have a XBL gold account, and I won't be buying one just for one game. Maybe I'll pay for 1 month of gold if that's an option at the time.

It will be. 6 months later. With a horrible frame rate and a awkward-ass control scheme.

Each new thing I learn about this game makes me worry less about the various controversies it's had. Good thing, that.

I say we settle this dispute on may 18th, noon with pistols!

You're on pad'ner.

The posse mode was what I was hoping for.

I'm currently Netflixing my way through Deadwood, so this has really got my interest. Amazon has a $10 credit on another game for pre-orders of this.

I'm so interested in this game, but so nervous it will not excite me once I start playing it. GTA4 was my final straw that got me to buy the 360, but I only played about 5% of it before getting turned off by the controls, etc. Maybe it was just my newness at dual stick controls, but it never grabbed me as much as I hoped it would (I loved Vice City on PC).

Combine that with the weird stuff you keep hearing about the development and promotion of this game, and I'm not sure I can convince myself to pre-order. It probably wouldn't take much more than a good deal and a friend or two pressuring me to get it.

And I just finally finished AC2, so my open world spot in my gamer's queue is ready to be filled with either this or Just Cause 2...

Unless someone whose opinion I trust comes along and says the controls in this are as good as some of the better shooters out there I'm passing.

It looks amazing, but I'm not falling for Rockstar's pre-release stuff ever again. They got me on not one, not two or even three or four, but five GTA games. I completed less and less of each release before quitting after getting annoyed with the controls and annoying characters.

I finally learned my lesson before GTA4 and at least only rented it from Gamefly.

That's the best this will get unless I hear amazing things.

And if there's even one character akin to "Brucie" or whatever the heck his name was in this, they don't even get a rental.

I'm too psyched to not day one this one. Heck, it evn got me to change avatar.

Man, I thought Brucie was a freakin' riot.

Gotta agree. The promise of MORE cutscenes with Brucie was one of the few things that spurred me to keep going in GTAIV!

If anything, overall tone in Red Dead looks like it might be a little too *serious* for my taste. I love the whacked-out Rockstar characters like Ryder in San Andreas and Gary in Bully.

Same here, I love exaggerated stereotypes.

At first blush, I'm not super excited about the multiplayer. While riding horses through this vast landscape sounds great on paper, in reality there's nothing less fun than wandering around with nothing to do. Can I warp to these sudden bandit fights with other players? Do we have to agree to meet somewhere to fight? Is hunting really going to be fun when it's just hordes of wolves running at you? Will the gun play be good enough to make these random AI battles a good time?

Glad they're trying something new, not 100% sure it's the right call.

I think the open world multiplayer is one of the modes from what I've read. Sounds like there may be some more "directed" MP yet to be announced.

Look a few posts up. The directed modes have already been leaked. Variations on the standard. Deathmatch, steal the gold. CTF variant.

Lead and Gold chose a bad time to come out.

I'm aware of those. Standard deathmatch games don't do so hot if they're not of the Halo or Modern Warfare variety these days. I can't say CTF or deathmatch really lights my fire much anymore, either. We'll see how it turns out, I'm in for the single player regardless.

Lead and Gold is a totally different beast, I think. It feels more like TF2 with a western theme, and it is also $15 on PC.

Brucie was my favourite character in GTA:IV -- seemed most like past GTA characters. Everything else got hit with the serious stick.

Regardless, RDR is a must have for me from the looks of it.

Euphoria physics + the Wild West = Win!

I think of Lead and Gold like a dragon, and Red Dead as a hydra. Sure, they're different beasts, but a Few of Red Dead's heads look like Lead's one head. It's a Lead and Gold versimilatude plus a whole bunch more.

Hopefully those Red Dead heads don't eat each other.

Red Dead Redepmtion is looking quite amazing. One of the things I love about a lot of my most favorite games is their ability to draw me in with a thick, all-encompassing atmosphere and RDR looks like it'll have that in spades. Even if the single and multiplayer are inherently boring (which remains to be seen), I can see myself sinking in tons of hours just wandering the countryside soaking it all in. From what i've seen, the strife at R* San Diego at least looks worth it.

From Kotaku

John Hillcoat, director of The Road - and more importantly The Proposition - has helped developers Rockstar put together a 30-minute machinima based on Western adventure Red Dead Redemption, which will air next month.

Aside from the fact it will run on Fox on Saturday, May 15, we know little else of the project aside from, Rockstar tells us, the fact it will be animated using in-game assets. Making it essentially the world's longest video game commercial. Only with a top-shelf director pulling the strings.

Calendar marked.

I like the potential for games to expand into other uses like this. Hope the execution turns out well.

Cool.

New Multiplayer trailer, competitive.
Edit: well, I tired. Still haven't fixed the underscore thing?

Man, I was not even paying attention to this game, but then I got really interested when I watched the first Multiplayer Trailer a couple weeks ago.

Holy crap, they have cannons in multiplayer.

This game is starting to look like a whole heap o' fun.

OK, this a day 1 for me I wasn't interested in the free roaming but this looks AWESOME.
