I kind of see this dude as "fabulous"!

The whole hands on the hip thing. Although, I would kill for the feathered hair.....actually that would look horrible.

I saw it. I think I need to see it again when I'm not drunk. It didn't connect with anything inside my head.

I don't think the movie was particularly deep in any aspect. It was just a fun action movie.

I should remember things though, right? Like... stuff? Events?

Oh, yeah...that was a waste of 12 bucks (or whatever tix cost)
I would would go see it then.

Took me forever to put together that the main love interest for Kick-Ass was Ted's daughter from the future in How I Met Your Mother.

The first step is admitting you have a problem.

I just saw this. It was really disappointing. I was expecting a fun, cheesy superhero movie and got a pretty depressing story which was serious far to often. One big scene which put me off was when BD and HG crushed the guy begging for his life. Killing someone in a gun fight doesn't bother me but handcuffing them in a car, crushing it and then laughing about what a wimp the guy was is just sadistic.

Rented this last night. Loved it for the entertainment it is. (Stop analyzing so deep people... it's... just... a... movie!) Although the title should clearly have been "HIT GIRL" not "KICK ASS". I loved the birthday discussion where she asks for the puppy.

So I take it you have no idea what the story was supposed to be about then.

Yeah, I don't think it was ever billed as a cheesy superhero movie.

Nope. I watched the trailers - all of which had a lot of humor. When Red Mist jumps off the dumpster and hurts his leg, when they are driving in the car rocking out, when the little girl says she wants a puppy then lets dad knows she is kidding, etc.

The bit you left out made it pretty clear that the humor is going to be of the dark kind, not cheesy kind. I haven't even seen it yet, but I know it's not "HA HA! Silliness!" but "HA HA! That's sick!"

I agree the trailers portrayed more of cheesy action movie.

If you knew the original work it was even a bit more darker. Mark Millar tends to look at the baser sides of humanity.

Yes, from the same kind of vile advertising guys who made us think Sideways and Did You Hear About The Morgans were comedies.

I pretty much only watched the red band trailers.

Maybe try checking out this movie, the trailer looks pretty fun:

I think they may have also been responsible for this one:

Man, was I disappointed.

Do you guys think this movie is worth a buy? I enjoyed it in theaters but I'm on the fence between a buy or rent.

And ruining your favorite childhood movies.

@SAM

I will be purchasing this movie as soon as I have two nickles to rub together.

Agreed. Some movies just cant be analyzed too deeply. Just enjoy them for what they are.
I just got this in today from Netflix....I've got my expectations set appropriately and can't wait to enjoy it. Looks like a really fun movie, in a very sick & offensive way, that you can just turn your brain off and enjoy.

Netflixed it. Loved it!

I loved the film, thought it was very clever and well worth watching. Definitely snagging the DVD.

Just watched the movie.

Amazing. Really, really good. Pretty much what I expected.

Was also pretty touched by the scene in the warehouse.

Spoiler:

Good night daddy

caused me to tear up just a bit.

Definitely a highlight for the movie.

I loved the scene where ...

Spoiler:

At the end where Kick Ass and Hit Girl are rampaging through the crime lord's lair ... big bodyguard walks into the office ..."Don't worry boss, everything is under control" as he reaches for the bazooka.

Finally saw it....Loved it!
I do agree tho that it could have been called Hit Girl, she definitely stole the show. Looks like a Kick Ass 2 is in the works. Cant wait to see where they take it.

Just watched via Netflix. I thought it was a fun movie, too bad the advertisements were so bad that I didn't want to see it in the theaters and my girlfriend still doesn't want to see it.

You sir, are an asshat for watching this without me. I keel joo!

Watched it last night, loved it, and now I'm going to get the comic book for it. My wife on the other hand was immediately turned of by everything once Hit Girl showed her true colorful dialog.

I think my single favorite thing about it was that...

Spoiler:

They didn't lightly step around the Origin stories for the heroes & villains. There is something incredibly powerful about the warehouse scene with Big Daddy saying goodbye. You never got that emotional depth when Batman's parents were killed. And I cared more about the Red Mist walking the line between friend & enemy and ultimately becoming a supervillain than I did the entirety of Spiderman 3.

Also, huge potential spoilers from Mark Millar on Kick-Ass 2 here. The non-spoilery stuff is that the new comics are coming in December and filming of the sequel will start in April. I cannot wait to see more of this.

Now I just need to go see Scott Pilgrim and then buy those comics as well.

Just be aware that the comic books are WAY WAY WAY WAY WAY different than the movie. The movie is better in my opinion.
