GWJ E3 Slap & Tickle in LA! (Weds, 7PM June 16th)

Pages

Ok folks!

First of all, thanks for the patience. We are booked for BJ's Brewhouse in Burbank! The link misterglass provided is indeed accurate(http://www.bjsbrewhouse.com/location...), so go there to get a lay of the land. If I remember correctly, parking is free and plentiful.

It's right off of the Olive Ave exit if you're on the I-5 going North. It's also not too far from a transit hub.

I will try to rally the troops and get there early. 7:00 is the official start time, but if you'd like to be there early (around 6:30) to get a look at the menu, that's ok too

VERY IMPORTANT!
BJs provides only ONE CHECK for large groups, so please try to have cash on hand.

I figure we can chargeify it to my card and I'll collect moolah at the end of the night to cover the meal. I quoted a minimum of 15 people, with up to 25-35, so we (fingers crossed) should be good.

Apologies for the out of place-ness. The next one goes to the Westside. Hope to see you there!

I'm in!

If I can get a ticket, I'll drive down and see you all again! It's been too long!

Word is, Certis is bringing a Canadian Mountee uniform for me to wear while I drive him around.

Come meet me! It'll be the most awkward thing ever, internet person!

Meet the MAN WITHOUT A TAG!

Will Cory get drunk and hit on someone?

The Wheel of Fate has decreed. This shall come to pass.

Is there some sort of grandfather clause that would allow me to get a tag for time served?

In other news, I'll try to dig up CEJ, but he's not returning my phone calls.

Finally, the joke of the month is Certis and Canadian Mounties. Let the Photoshop-fest begin.

Is E3 open to the public again this year?

Nope. Never has been, has it?

I should be there if anyone wants to get together for dinner one night..

I guess Certis better pack his Pillow of Heterosexuality.

What about you, Skippy? You gonna drive down and prove you exist?

They toyed with the idea of making it public one year. It may have actually happened and it was a circus (more so than usual).

I know that I'm having to jump through hoops to get my pass. This will be the first year I actually have real life clients at the show.

I live around LA so I'd be down to meet some of you. As far as where, I'm not often downtown. L.A. Live, what they wanted to be the "Times Square West" is less than a year old and has lots of shops and mostly restaurants. That's also where the Nokia Theatre is if anyone goes to see the Video Games Live concert during E3.
It's a very nice place compared to downtown LA, but expensive and of course would not have the atmosphere that other places might.

Alright! I submitted my credentials as a Game related Educator which may or may not qualify me for a free ticket. I should know shortly if I'm going.

So who was there last time we all got together?

I remember there being Certis, Elysium, Pyro, CrawlingChaos, EdgarNewt... Did we take photos?

I'm up for driving up if my schedule allows. (I don't see why not, it's not like I have *that* much of a life)

Schedule's kind of tight that week. That and I loathe LA considerably.

That's really all you need to say about it.

Sadly (for me) E3 is not in the cards, but I do so ever wish to go to PAX this year. Oh please Santa! Even if the Demiurge is the only ConfCall mega-star to attend this year, I trust there will be a host of GWJer love there.

In. I have been waiting years for another GWJ E3 SnT! Bring it on!

Given its proximity to the convention center, LA Live may be the place to do it, but it will likely depend on whether the out of towners are staying.

Spaz can name his neighborhood better than I, but we're actually not super far from the convention center.

I LOL'd at "mega-star." Seriously, I'm gonna start dressing like Lady Gaga during recordings to live up to that title.

But dude, come to PAX. You'll get three ConfCall mega-stars for the price of one, plus all the flu-spreading goodness of Penny Arcade! It'll be a blast.

He doesn't exist!

I'll keep this on my radar, might be able to make the trip up there.

If I go, I'll be staying in Irvine.

Yeah, for reference, I'll be holding hosting the guys in the Los Feliz area. We'd have downtown, Glendale, and Burbank within reach.

Just a few places that I know of:
BJ's Brewhouse in Burbank - Pizza, Pasta and Beer!
Manna Korean BBQ in Koreatown - pricey, good for eats, but not so good for the drinky-drinks
La Guelaguetza in Koreatown - legendary Oaxacan (mexican) food, strong drinks. May have a live mariachi band playing.
The Yardhouse in Downtown LA - Kind of a bar/pub vibe, with decent-looking happy hour prices.
And there's always Shakey's Pizza Parlour!

I'm not well versed in get-togethers, since I'm a reclusive nerd... but these are spots that at the very least have decent food. I'm open for traveling a bit (say, if we wanted to go to the Dave & Buster's in Irvine, get Demi blotto and watch him play DDR).

Anyone have any suggestions so I can look into reservations?

I may want to go, let me know if you want to car pool.

If we can pin-point the day, I can make it out to LA to see everyone. I'm not intimately familiar with LA, but its not impossible to get anywhere via the metro out there. Tuesday through Thursday is the worst possible time for me to take off of work though, so i'd need a bit of advance warning on the day, unless of course I try to take the whole damn week off.

I will have a rental car if some peeps need to be picked up and driven to the gathering.

As I am coming from the westside of LA, I prefer downtown to Burbank/Glendale, but truth be told, would go any of the three places for the chance at GWJ S&T goodness. As I recall our last E3 get together was a bar on Melrose....

I should be able to attend.

BJ is good. If we are considering Korean BBQ, I recommend Tahoe Galbi instead. Same deal as Manna's but the quality and service is much better.

Well when you put it that way, with all that flu-spreading tastiness, how can a fella say no?

I am Elysium's overdeveloped sense of jealousy.
