Yep, joined on Andromeda. Will give it another bash now.

Nope, no dice. Could you try searching for me? MrDeVil909

No go. And just to be thorough I did a search on just 909, it comes up with James909 and marcelo909, but no MrDeVil909.

Edit: For further clarification, you're on the USA version of Andromeda, right? Because in an effort to maximize international confusion, there is a different version of Andromeda for the UK, and I assume all the other countries too.

Ummmm, only one Andromeda on the list. I guess I've ended up in a Euro one. That is confusing.

If you got in from the MMOGame portal, look either in the upper right corner for a drop down with a flag/country, or look next to the OGame launcher, should also have a flag. If you're in UK and want to go to USA, switch from the drop down in the upper right corner.

Hmm, I see that the maximum number of games you can play is 3 unless you buy credits.

So far I'm having fun.

There are some great things about this game...like when an enemy sends a fleet toward one of your star systems, but can't see far enough to know that you have a giant fleet that will arrive before his. (Anecdote from pubbie game not involving any Goodjers...)

I bought some credits to support the devs. I'll start the next game after I get crushed at the hands of ________. I don't wanna say something that makes people think any particular player has an advantage!

Pass is 'stan'

I'm in.

Me too. One spot left!

This better not start while I'm at work

I'm doing all right on two of my games, but the goodjer game I've just been smashed. Taught a lesson: Industry is IMPORTANT.

It's all important, I neglected science and I'm on the back foot now. Should be able to recover though.

The 12 hour pay cycle really makes the game feel a lot quicker, it's great.

*edit*

Dango, I thought you weren't even playing. Did you try any diplomacy? It's also pretty important.

Well. Been playing for 5 minutes and have already made my first major mistake =)

You upgraded science on your homeworld where it's most expensive, right?

Damn, missed the window for the GWJ game. Must remember to check the thread more often doh.

Goodjer Beatdown game is full and started. Good luck everyone.

This should be fun. Only my second game, but I feel that I am better equipped this time having read the entire Pride and Falls on RPS and in the knowledge that I'd better start capping planets before the game is 3/4 over...

w00t. Won my first battle, in the non-GWJ game.

I just discovered this game after listening to Idle Thumbs this week. I'm going to try a pub game first, but I'd love to try a GWJ game as well. Any more in the works? Do you need to pay to create a private game?

Lost the goodjer game. Got some revenge by giving my enemy's enemy's level three speed tech.

I think you do have to pay to create a private game. There are plenty of pubbie games about. I don't know who else is thinking of creating a game. I'll do so once one of mine finished. That may be awhile, though.

There are free games. People can create premium games for 20 credits and then everyone else needs to pay 10 credits to join. Or people can start a premium game that's free for others to join for 50 credits. The lowest amount of credits you can buy is 200 for $20. I still have 150 credits, so I plan on starting a few more games. Just waiting to see how the two I'm playing in pan out.

You can also join a pubbie game that is empty and get some Goodjers to jump in with you. Then you can unite against the rest of the galaxy.

*edit*

I hope that a certain person I attacked in our game isn't going to hold it against me in the other where we have an alliance.

It's nothing personal, I just needed stars and he was the only place to get them.

*edit again*

Ha, that's funny. In the first game I joined, playing without any Goodjer support I'm in the lead. Having a territory at the edge is helpful.

"Curse your sudden but inevitable betrayal..."

I'm not petty enough to hold something from one game against someone in another. However you would have gotten a lot more of my planets if you had waited 2 days more since I was planning to assault Laarrs' last stand on Alcor with the force now built up against your expanding border.

Curses!

Patience really is a virtue in this game.

I suspected you were going to attack Laarrs' last planet, but it seemed like a risky move to make with defenders bonuses.

This is going to be fun. already much more communication going on in our game than in the pubbie game a played a while ago.

The pub game I'm in is actually going pretty well. I'm working with a guy on the other side of the map from me, between us is yellow who seems a bit aggressive. We're figuring he's going to attack on of us and when he does that he's gonna get hit from both sides. I'm in a pretty good spot, in the bottom right corner so I've got a good portion of planets to work with. On my left side is yellow but there's a large gap between him and my outer planets (which I could easily scoop up before he could get them due to the gap) and to my north is red who seems alright. We had a bit of a border issue as we're really close, but quickly resolved it and set up a line. (I told him he could have a certain area but didn't realize I still had a ship waypointed to go to it and it raided and took the planet, I pulled back and offered him a planet of mine as an 'I'm sorry' and it was cool). I don't like how your ships auto raid any planet that isn't yours, if you ally with someone, you can't move ships through their teritorry or go to reinforce them. There should be some sort of option to set certain people so that you don't attack them when moving ships through their space.

I'm pretty sure you don't attack if you move the fleet straight out.

Will find out for sure in a couple of hours.

I reckon I'd be enjoying this more if I wasn't already doing a Civ turn every morning. As it is it's feeling like my job queue starts before I even get to work.

I'm getting a little of this. I have to say (and this has NOTHING to do with my being a terrible Civ player, NOTHING I SAY!) that I think I'm actually enjoying this a little more. I know it has the potential to last as long, but it feels a little more whimsical somehow and I find the endless 'diplomacy' in NP a great source of amusement!

I guess I'm just not up for diplomacy before I've had my second cup of coffee.

I usually do mine over my morning coffee. somthing I wish wish this did have was forwarding of your NP inbox to your email (you have to log in with google, so it shouldn't be too hard). Even if you couldn't reply it would be a nice way to keep track of things without having to go into the game.

That was my problem too... more of my fault that of the game.

Just started playing a free game. Finally a strategy game I can wrap my head around! And perfect for slacking at work given the long turns. Looking forward to joining (and losing) a GWJ game when this is over.
Does anybody know if there's a single player game that's kinda like this?
