Release date: March 31, 2010

Some videos of multiplayer M&B:

And yes, there is going to be a single player campaign as well, seems like the full deal.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WIR9_...

What Warband will have over the original M&B:
Multiplayer of course
Improved models with higher quality details and textures
More graphics! HDR, FSAA, DoF, soft particles, tone mapping, etc.
Ability to upgrade your companions to vassals. This should make for some more interesting and varied gameplay.
Ability to marry, either for romance or for political gain
New animations
Improvements to the combat system

Let me know if I missed any.

Welcome to the new thread! Discuss!

Edit:
Launch Trailer

Who's pre-ordered? I'm thinking about it.

And thus, Citizen86, you go down in history...

I'll have to pull the trigger on the Steam sale when I get home. I'd say Taleworlds has definitely earned it.

My stake is made.

I'll miss the old thread. Oh, the times we had...

But yeah, I'll probably pre-order. For the $20 or so dollars I paid back in .6, I got $547.62 of play out of M&B. I figure I owe them another $27 or so.

Heck, I only paid $9 in January of '09 and more than got my money's worth out of it. If they were charging $40 or $50 for it, I'd still buy it at that price and not bat an eyelash.

How do you calculate that?

I've been in the single-player beta for a while and I can tell you, it's practically a whole new game. The core of Mount and Blade is there, and it's the same basic objective (rise to power, be awesome) but everything has been reworked and revamped. New map, new faction, kingdom management, diplomacy, politics, marriage, boats, completely overhauled combat system, and much much more. And added to that there's the awesome multiplayer.

If you liked Mount and Blade, you really can't miss this.

I'm kinda on the fence on this. My question is what will Warband single-player do that can't be modded into the original?

marriage, boats

Honeymoon cruise! Of course, with some looting and/or pillaging sprinkled here and there; don't want my combat skills to dull.

"Single-player campaign" here means "bigger and better sandbox", right? M&B with a plot I didn't make up myself would just be weird.

It seems like I can't go 6 months without giving Taleworlds some of my money. They must be doing something right.

An entire overhaul of the engine, actual new gameplay and not just a variety of modded in scripts, AI, animations, visuals, ect.

Yes, basically.

I really wish more of you had gotten more into the beta, it was a great way to find out all the new features in the game and everything that's been changed and improved, best demo I could've asked for. It's difficult to explain all the exact changes and everything but trust me, it feels like playing a whole new game.

What more would you want in a M&B game?

Fedora, you mean the SP beta, right? Well chances are, when it's released or soon afterwords they'll do the same demo they made for the original M&B. That's a guess though.

So the single-player beta is still closed then? Not included with the beta if you own M&B that is.

SP beta is still closed, yes.
And I meant both multi beta and SP beta. The SP beta really wasn't that hard to get into and most the the multiplayer regulars got in.

Fedora I'll add you via Steam. I just got the updated beta for Warbands, I'm willing to play a bit before I cave and buy

So you can rape and pillage now, instead of just pillage?

Question, if it is being released on 3/31, what the hell am I downloading on Steam now?

I'll definitely be picking this up. I played the original to death! Got my cousin into it too, and he's convinced he's now better at it than me. So being able to take him down a peg or two in multiplayer will be most welcome.

I don't know, I only got a hundred and some hours of gameplay out of the first one...

I'm going to wait til it goes on a sale. Not because I don't think it isn't worth full price (I paid $30 for the original, and don't regret it at all), but I'm still playing though the Prophecy of Pendor mod, and I figure I've got a couple weeks until I'm done with that, and then I've got such a backlog of games that I can easily wait a couple months. Also the multiplayer beta didn't impress me that much, so I won't miss not getting in on the ground floor with it.

Actually you get in on both Betas right now if when you purchase. I've started the single player and although it is very much like the original, it has a glossier coat of polish and new features (like the new faction, marriage, etc.).

I'll be jumping on the pre-purchase. M&B is one of the games I'd take onto a desert island.

In that case, I'm definitely pre-ordering.

I'm in the MP beta, but not the SP (which is where I get my money's worth).

And I calculate the value of the game through complex mathematics involving hours played, heads split and followers accumulated, with battles won/battles and the log of Khergits cursed.

Yeah I'll definitely preorder this.

Someone write this down, it's a world first! I'm in on the preorder.

I'll be picking this up sometime when things mellow out for me (money and gaming time). One (not so) big question. Do cow hearding missions still exist in Warband and if they do, do the cows follow you or do you still have to herd them?

Not sure...I'm still Ronin-esque so I'm still hunting down Sea Raiders and Forrest Bandits. From what I've seen, the gameplay is virtually identical, but the UI for army orders is more robust, the graphics are much better, and you marry. That's all that I've really seen that is new. Oh, and it costs money now to promote your troops (which kinda sucks).

Everything you wanted to know about romance and marriage, but were afraid to ask. Looks like the Khergits throw one hell of a party.

Ahh, it seems like just yesterday that I was slaughtering thugs hired by my girlfriend's mother on my way to her house to ask for her hand in marriage and inherit her huge tracts of land.

All right, what the heck happened to couching your lance?
