Just Cause 2 Catch-All

Seems to run well on the PC at 1900x1200.

Looks crazy. Haven't figured out all the devious stuff yet, though.

The demo was pretty cool, but aside from the grappling hook, did little that Red Faction didn't do last year.

With FFXIII and the new Dragon Age expansion coming out in the next two weeks, among other things, I think I'll be waiting for some price cuts on this one.

I'll be grabbing the demo later today. Hope there's more than tricks up this game's sleeves.

Sold. Running well on triple monitors and it looks fantastic. PC version for me!

I was listening to an interview with the developer on digital cowboys recently. I don't remember them addressing the PC version, but they stated that the PS3 version constantly records the previous 30 secs of gameplay and allows it to be uploaded to youtube from in game. You can also manually set it to record longer videos and upload them. This is absent from the 360 version.

Has anyone figured out how the "fighting mini-game" when you attempt to hijack a helo in the air works?

It just says use the movement keys but I end up scuffling with the pilot for 15 seconds and then getting dropped out to the skids, again and again.

Being able to "ride" a gas canister one minute into the game - priceless.

On 360 you hit the left stick up to climb the side, and a little QTE commences to tussle with the pilot.

Ahh, this may be a issue with running in 3 screens. I am likely not seeing the key prompts in the QTE because of an FOV issue. Thanks.

I'm having serious mouselag. GTX280 with latest drivers. Anyone else suffering this? Makes it damn near impossible to play.

I had it to start with. I got rid of it by playing with the video options. I'm not sure what exactly got rid of it though, sorry.

This game is concentrated man fantasy. (mantasy) I played the demo for over an hour, and I don't think the gameplay will get stale anytime soon.

I did play on both the PC and the PS3. The PC controls are a lot harder to get used to than the PS3, but the PC makes it look a lot better and will probably have mods. Tough call.

I'm gonna go put my pre-order down on the way home from work tonight. I messed with the demo for about an hour and half last night (on the PC) and my first play through was a little painful, but the 2nd and 3rd were an absolute blast.

I played it both on the pc and 360 yesterday. I was thoroughly impressed. Especially with my second play through when I started to get the hang of some of the systems, like controlling the parachute and learning that if you grapple things while the parachute is open you use that to sling shot your self forward. On my way home today I was thinking about what I might play and then I remembered I had this demo to mess around with some more. It's been a long time since I've looked forward to replaying a demo.

Yes, I have played through 10 times now. I never do that with a demo. It seems like a perfect game for when you want to invest very little. Like those times when you just channel surf instead of playing a game because you are mentally spent from the day. Perfect game for my current busy life.

Excuse my parenting skills, but the best part was my kids gathered around me asking me to drive motorcycles off mountain cliffs and such.

I only wish there was a little more persistence and customization. I want a garage and an armory. And a nice coat.

I wonder how much of the lack of persistence and customization is the demo? I took out the communications complex up above the point where you start out and it did affect response times of the military dudes in other areas for my remaining 20 minutes of demo time. Also, there seems to be a lot that could affect an island wide economy, and it will likely be disappointing if these things do not mesh. But, this is always a trade-off with open world games like this and I am willing to accept some inconsistencies.

I know nothing about a nice coat but I would be surprised if the full game lacks a garage mechanic.

Looks like the slowdown was related to either shadow settings or GPU based water. Runs like a dream now

Is anyone else having technical issues with the demo? The game freezes shortly after the timer starts. Also I'm getting a staggering 20 FPS after I tinkered with a few of the graphical settings, as I was initially at 9 FPS.

It runs like a buttery dream for me. Best open world game I've ever seen. I did narrow down my performance issues to GPU based water, make sure that's disabled!

Wow, this one was completely off my radar... until I played the demo 5 times back to back! I can see that MAYBE all the mayhem will get old after awhile, but I also love the exploration element. Curious if there's any kind of compelling story missions at all...

I played and watched people play this for about 5 hours last night. It is endlessly entertaining, even if you're just watching. This is definitly a day 1 purchase for me, but I can't decide if I want it on a console (group activity) or the PC (better graphics).

I find the console controller a bit easier to use for GTA style games - somehow the switching between running, driving, and shooting gets me twisted around with a keyboard and mouse.

I don't know if it's the jungle/desert terrain, or the endlessly respawning soldiers, but this reminds me of Far Cry 2 in some ways. I just wish there was a pair of binoculars to admire the island from afar!

It's definitely time for me to buy a new PC.

The 360 demo was fun, but I enjoyed the original on the PC and I have a feeling that's where it needs to stay for me.

I've played through the demo maybe 6 times now, can't wait for the full version. I've ridden a propane tank into the stratosphere, destroyed a pipeline, blew up a missile silo grappling out just in the nick of time, and much more. March 23 can't come soon enough.

I've tried doing this but the guy drops off a second after he clings to a tank.

You have to grapple to the top of the propane tanks, and only the big ones.

"He got me with his wire thing!" Great dialog.

By the way guys, there's a radar base at the end of a windy mountain road not too far from the starting point. On the way to that base there's a security checkpoint. In that security checkpoint, a vacant tank.

Both of those things were upgraded by nVidia techs for the PC version. If you're using an ATI card it might not work as nicely? I don't know if they're keeping it proprietary or anything.

GTX 280 1GB Ram. I think that it takes so much processing power to push the crazy good looking water (and it does indeed look crazy good) that it does some goofy sh*t with the input. It doesn't feel like the framerate sucks, it's just the mouse lag. Maybe that'll be fixed in a driver.

I can live without flowy-looking water. The Explosions are great!

Yeah me and my son have been having a blast with the demo just goofing off. It's a perfect game to pop in and play for a few with very low commitment, hand the controller off to someone else for a bit, etc. It really is a sandbox title in every sense of the word.
